行動分析家にとって、行動科学は、行動を説明・予測するためのアプローチとして、他の様々な科学的または疑似科学的アプローチより優れているものである。したがって、行動分析家がこれまで人間社会の多種多様な場面に行動的な方法論を応用してきたことは当然のことといえよう。近年では、行動的な方法論の応用が、単に学術的な世界にはとどまらず、産業界でもポピュラーなものになりつつある。この論文では、産業界での行動分析学の発展について概観すると共に、企業という環境で、行動マネジメントプログラムを計画・実行するさいの問題点を指摘する。また、行動分析学が組織の中で効果をあげるための戦略についても述べていく。

On Broadway and West End, the new millennium regarded as an era of juke-box and movie musicals. However, there is another trend, including Urinetown (2001), The Producers (2001), Avenue Q (2003), Spamalot (2005), The Drowsy Chaperone (2006), The Book of Mormon (2011), and Something Rotten! (2015). These shows share several aspects that differ from juke-box musicals and movie musicals. This essay aims to reevaluate these musicals as metamusicals: an alternative genre of musical theater that emerged around the 2000s. Regarding this kind of musicals, Kathryn Edney argued that City of Angels (1989) was one of the first "hyper-aware" musicals. In Showtime, Larry Stempel referred to shows such as Urinetown, Avenue Q, and The Drowsy Chaperone as "self-reflexive." Osanai Shin categorized The Producers, Spamalot, and The Drowsy Chaperone as "meta musicals"—along with revivals of backstage musicals such as Kiss Me, Kate (1999) and 42nd Street (2001). Reviews by notable theater critics, such as Ben Brantley, also share this viewpoint regarding these musicals. However, while they mention the possibility of the emergence of a new genre of musical theater, their analyses are sporadic and disagree on some points, such as which shows might be included in this new trend. As the analysis of this essay reveals, these shows are basically musical comedies filled with self-references but not necessarily backstage musicals. Rather, these musicals are saturated with inside jokes, parodies, and self-referential spoofs even though they are not necessarily backstage musicals. In this regard, there is a sharp distinction between the shows produced before and after the turn of the century. As in The Drowsy Chaperone, The Book of Mormon, and Something Rotten!, self-referential jokes are not merely a device of musical comedy to entertain its audience. Instead, they consists the main body of the show. In these metamusicals, characters are aware that they are in musicals. In fact, they are hyperaware of their existence in a musical. They comment on how musicals should be and how they feel about certain songs, and they often complain about the show they are in. At the same time, the plot of the show comments on itself as being a musical. All in all, metamusicals examine the relevance of the conventions of musical in this postmodern world.

This paper proposes an automatic robot manzai (comic dialogue) generation system. In the proposed system, input sentences such as a tale, story, etc. are converted into a manzai script composed of boke (stupid joke) and tsukkomi (comeback). Then, two humanoid robots play the manzai taking roles of a funny man and a straight man, respectively. Their motions are determined from the motion database based on a verb in the utterance. The contributions of the paper are the following three points; a proposal of the novel system for an automatic robot manzai generation which can accept a normal story, convert it to the manzai script and play the manzai: verification of the usefulness of motions in the manzai to make it funnier by experiments: indication of the effectiveness of the proposed system by experiments.

An 8-year-old neutered female Yorkshire terrier with mediastinal neoplasm and subsequent cranial vena cava invasion developed multiple venous collaterals from the brachiocephalic venous trunks to the caudal vena cava. Collateral venous pathways have been described in dogs with obstruction or increased blood flow resistance of the caudal vena cava but cranial vena cava collaterals have not been reported until now in veterinary patients. In this report, the CTA characteristics of such peculiar vascular routes are described and compared to similar findings reported in human medical literature. The recognition of such ancillary CT finding could help radiologists to reach a more accurate diagnosis of superior vena cava syndrome.

A 10-month-old female Japanese black heifer presenting with sudden loss of appetite was diagnosed with extreme extension of the gallbladder. Laparotomy reaching from the right part of the 10th rib to the right flank showed an extended gallbladder greater than 50 cm in diameter. Cholecystectomy was performed as follows: 1) complete removal of the gallbladder distally from the base; 2) flushing via a catheter inserted into the common bile duct; and 3) covering of the hole opened in the common bile duct with a double-suturing method using the mucous membrane and muscular layers of the remaining gallbladder structures. Serum levels of total bilirubin gradually decreased from 7.5 mg/dl preoperatively to 4.7 mg/dl, 1.6 mg/dl and 0.6 mg/dl at 3, 8 and 34 days postoperatively, respectively. The heifer showed 1 month of clinical improvements, grew normally and finally became pregnant. To the best of our knowledge, this represents the first clinical report to describe cholecystectomy in cattle.

The serratus anterior muscle is an important muscle for scapular joint function. It is innervated by the long thoracic nerve, and its function is to stabilize the medial border and inferior angle of the scapula. Generally, exercises that emphasize the protraction and upward rotation of the scapula (wall push-up plus, dynamic hag, push-up plus) have been recommended for strengthening the serratus anterior. However, because greater activation of the pectoral muscles is likely to occur during these exercises, there is a possibility that efficient serratus anterior muscle activity will not be obtained. In this study, a patient was subjected to physical therapy after right long thoracic nerve paralysis resulted in fatigue during shoulder flexion at 120° or higher. General strengthening exercises for the serratus anterior muscle were incorporated, but sufficient effects were not achieved. Therefore, our training focused on improving serratus anterior contraction patterns through facilitation, while reducing the activation of the pectoralis major. These exercises improved shoulder joint motor function and reduced fatigue during flexion better than general strengthening exercises. We consider that it is necessary to focus on facilitation and contraction patterns to improve serratus anterior activation after long thoracic nerve injury.

鹿児島県種子島の西11kmの馬毛島(820ha)で1986年9月トノサマバッタが大発生し,幼虫の集団と成虫の群生,群飛行動を観察した。成虫は群を成して11月まで島内を移動し,群飛や摂食,休息,夜間の静止をくりかえした。馬毛島から他の島への移動が心配されたので,MEP3%粉剤を用いて薬剤防除を実施した。幼虫に対しては10月に2回,成虫に対しては12月から1987年1月にかけて4回実施した。
