A new hemodynamic measurement system was developed by using the left ventricular assist device (LVAD) to estimate the cardiac function of the natural heart. The LVAD was placed between the left atrium and the aorta for the patient with deeply failed left ventricular pump function and driven by the pneumatic drive unit.In the personal computer system, an on-line identification method was implemented to estimate the coefficients of the autoregressive moving average (ARMA) model whose input and output were corresponding to the drive pressure of the drive unit and the pump flow from LVAD, respectively.Two driving modes of LVAD were compared with each other. One is the co-pulsation mode in which the systolic period of LVAD coincides with that of the natural heart, and the other is the counter-pulsation mode in which the systolic period of LVAD is followed by that of the natural heart.This comparison clarified that the capability of cardiac function of the natural heart could be quantitatively evaluated on the basis of the difference between two frequency responses derived from the coefficients of the ARMA model. This implies that the proposed method is useful for making a decision on weaning from LVAD in the clinical case.

緬羊における色の識別能力のうち,特に類似色をどの程度まで識別できるかを明らかにすることを目的とした.供試羊は双子のコリデール種去勢羊を用い,正刺激側のスイッチを押すと飼料が与えられるスキナー箱を自作して2色の同時弁別実験を行なった.草の色を想定して緑を正刺激とし,黄および青から徐々に緑に近付けた計7色を負刺激としてそれぞれ識別させた.各課題とも1セッション30試行とし,20セッションまで行なった.各試行ごとにおける左右のカードの交換は乱数表に基づいて行なった.x2検定により1セッション21試行以上の正解(P<0.05)を基準とし,その基準に3回連続到達した時点でその色を識別したとみなした.結果は,黄から近付けた緑に最も近い色との対比において1頭が,また,青から近付けた緑に最も近い色との対比において2頭ともが,それぞれ識別不能と判断された他は,全ての組合せにおいて識別できるものと判断できた.以上から緬羊の色覚はかなり発達しているものと思われ,色による条件付け学習を利用した管理技術の開発の可能性が示唆された.

Stress distributions in a canine left ventricular wall are simulated during one cardiac cycle by employing 3-dimensional finite element models developed in order to estimate the functions of the left ventricle. The appropriateness of the numerical simulator is examined by comparing the pressure volume relationships of the left ventricle computed by the present system with those obtained by the corresponding canine experiments. The initial geometry of the left ventricle is assumed to be a prolate spheroid in order to facilitate easy estimation of the complex computed numerical results. It is recognized that the distributions of the wall stress, e.g., the circumferential stress, near the equatorial surface are quite different from those of the thick cylinder subjected to the internal pressure and that the magnitudes and the directions of the principal stresses are closely related to both the contractility and the orientation of the myocardial muscle fiber.

複雑さに関する研究とフラクタルの概念をレビューし,フラクタルが複雑さの理想形であること,さらに,フラクタルが形だけでなく,時間変動や分布の解析に対しても有効であることを述べる. フラクタルが相転移の臨界点で生じる性質を議論し, なぜ通常不安定な臨界状態が安定化するのかを説明する.

構造明確ならせん構造を有する高分子の合成法の開発は,新規な物性・機能を有する材料の開発につながるだけでなく,生体らせん高分子が示す精緻な機能の分子レベルでの理解にも役立つ。本稿では,「ナノ材料としてのらせん高分子」に焦点をあて,合成・構造,機能を中心に最近のらせん高分子の進歩と研究動向について述べる。

Despite the increasing sales of black cohosh (the dried rhizome and root of Cimicifuga racemosa L.) in the world herbal market, these products have continuous adulteration issues. The botanical authenticity of the black cohosh products is the first important step for ensuring their quality, safety and efficacy. In this study, we genetically identified the botanical sources of 10 black cohosh products and 5 Cimicifuga Rhizome crude drugs of Japanese Pharmacopoeia grade, and analyzed the metabolic profiling of 25 black cohosh products using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Consequently, we found that C. dahurica and possibly C. foetida are misused as sources of the black cohosh products and in some cases, the extracts of black cohosh were adulterated with the plant materials of C. dahurica. We demonstrated that these three species can be distinguished by three marker compounds in a specific mass range. These results must be helpful in establishing regulations for the safe use of the black cohosh products.

近年,ブログや掲示板,口コミサイトのレビューなどを利用し商品の評判を解析するサービスが展開されている.評判解析の精度を高めるためには,書き手の感情や態度を文章から正確に分析する必要がある.ブログ記事には絵文字が用いられることも多く,これらの絵文字にはモダリティの役割を持つ場合がある.すなわち,絵文字が表す感情を推定することは,評判解析などの際に重要であると言える.本研究では,絵文字を含む大量のブログ記事を収集し,絵文字と共起する感情語を用いて絵文字の感情ベクトルを自動的に作成する手法を提案する.

Japanese persimmon ‘Totsutanenashi’ (TTN) is a spontaneous small fruit mutant derived from ‘Hiratanenashi’ (HTN). To characterize the small fruit phenotype of TTN, we carried out a histological analysis, plant growth regulator treatments, and a transcriptome analysis using Illumina sequencing. The parenchymal cell number in TTN fruit was significantly less than in HTN fruit, and the parenchymal cell size in TTN fruit was also significantly smaller than that in HTN fruit at the later growing stage. However, the fruit size of TTN recovered by cytokinin treatments [50 or 200 ppm N-(2-chloro-4-pyridyl)-N′-phenylurea]. Thus, diminished cytokinin activity in TTN fruits may lead to less cell division in the early growing stage and less cell enlargement in the later growing stage. A large-scale transcriptome analysis was conducted using Illumina sequencing to determine the differences in gene expressions between TTN and HTN fruits. Illumina sequences were processed, resulting in 21,662,190 read pairs from HTN and 23,195,203 read pairs from TTN. After assembly of all sequences from HTN and TTN, 118,985 contigs (referred to as unigenes hereafter) ranging from 201 to 11,954 bases, with an average length of 915 bases, were obtained. Digital expression analyses revealed that the expression levels of 164 unigenes were significantly higher in HTN than in TTN, while the expression levels of 265 unigenes were significantly higher in TTN. A parametric analysis of gene set enrichment using the expression levels of unigenes showed that the biological process Gene Ontology categories of “cell cycle” and “regulation of cell cycle” were significantly down-regulated in TTN. The cell cycle-related differentially expressed genes included D3-type cyclin and Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase Kinase Kinase. Based on the obtained results, the possible involvement of cell cycle-related genes in regulating the small fruit phenotype in TTN is discussed.

Objective: Antiplatelet therapy is essential in neuroendovascular therapy to avoid periprocedural thromboembolic events. The purpose of our study was to evaluate the relationship between platelet aggregation analysis by VerifyNow assay system (Accumetrics, San Diego, CA, USA) and thromboembolic complications.Methods: Seventy-two neuroendovascular procedures were performed between March 2013 and February 2015 in this institution. There were 41 males (56.9%) and their mean age was 69.9 years. Meanwhile, there were 31 females (43.0%) and their mean age was 62.7 years. In all cases, clopidogrel (CLP) was used as one of the periprocedural antiplatelet therapy. All patients were measured CLP response as P2Y12 Reaction Units (PRU) value using VerifyNow assay system (Accumetrics, San Diego, CA, USA) with the whole blood sample collected from the long sheath located at the femoral artery. All patients received diffusion-weighted image (DWI) on MRI at 1–4 days after the procedure. The occurrence of thromboembolic events was recorded and the relationship between CLP response and DWI hyper-intensity area (HIA) positive was analyzed. Appropriate cut-off value to predict thromboembolic events was examined. Results: Symptomatic thromboembolic complications occured in three patients (4.1%), and each PRU value was all over 226. CLP hypo-responder in our study recognized 46 patients (63.8%) as cut-off PRU value set 208. As the result of cut-off value defined as CLP hypo-responder, with regard to PRU more than 208, a significant difference appear in DWI HIA positive or negative, but with regard to PRU more than 230, a significant difference is not recognized.Conclusion: In our study, CLP response measured by VerifyNow assay system is well correlated with the periprocedural thromboembolic events in neuroendovascular procedure. The cut-off value of PRU in neuroendovascular therapy is not still defined, but CLP hypo-responder defined PRU value more than 208 might be meaningful in neuroendovascular therapy performed to Japanese. We should make the custom-made periprocedural anti-platelet therapy according to personal response.

遺伝子組み換え植物である,グリホサート耐性遺伝子組換えダイズ(Glicine max)(モンサント社のT. MON2)を用いて遺伝子拡散と土壌微生物相への影響について検討した。2004年の圃場試験では非組換えダイズとしてタンレイを用いて距離80cmまで0.115%の確率で,2005年の圃場試験では非組換えダイズとしてタンレイ,スズユタカを用いてタンレイでのみ距離140cmまで0.018%の確率で花粉の飛散による遺伝子拡散が認められた。遺伝子組換えダイズの土壌微生物相への影響は希釈培養法で検討した。細菌一般,糸状菌,放線菌数において非遺伝子組換えダイズと組換えダイズの間で有意な差は認められなかった。
