This paper focuses on the nature of knowledge learned at business schools. Combining the practical knowledge in business with the academic knowledge in universities can result in knowledge that enriches both worlds, but in order to do so it is essential to understand the whole picture of the nature of knowledge according to its levels of abstraction. This paper shows five levels; (1) pure science, (2) applied science, (3) clinical science, which are developed by scientists or scholars, (4) scientific explicit knowledge, and (5) practical explicit or implicit knowledge, which are developed by people in practice. The differences among them are not only who develops the knowledge, but also who judges its relevance and effectiveness.

The purpose of this article is to clarify the merit and demerit of junior high school entrance examination by comparing the conscious and behavior of SJHSE (students who enter school through junior high school entrance examination) and SHSE (students who enter school through high school entrance examination). By the analysis of survey data for 11th grade students who belong to Tokyo private combined junior high and high school, three findings were acquired. Firstly, in the upper and middle rank schools, SJHSE is a little dull in academic achievement. Secondly, the statement that SJHSE is easily adapted for school life is supported in the upper and middle rank schools. Thirdly, the tendency for SJHSE not to feel social inequality is seen very slightly.

This paper looks at the first-ever tours in the general Japanese tourism market to see the 2009 total solar eclipse. Of the different tours which were organized to take participants to the Nansei Islands to view the eclipse, here we focus on those to Toshima Village where the eclipse was going to be longest. Situated to the south of Kyushu, Toshima Village has seven inhabited islands which are both isolated and lacking in infrastructure. The large-scale eclipse tours to these small remote islands threw into the various observation prerequisites for tourists on the islands that had not been considered before. Analyzing the measures needed to meet these conditions, we are able to present a framework model for establishing tourism to small remote islands.

コンピュータグラフィックスの普及に伴い 高品位な画像をより高速に生成することが要請されている.我我は 視線探索法を用い 並列処理により画像を生成するシステムLKNKS-1を試作し 数多くの実験を重ねてきた.この結果を基に 飛躍的な処理速度の向上を目指し 新たなシステムを設計した.本システムのユニットコンピュータ(UC)は LINKS-1のUC と比較して 演算能力と通信機能が大幅に強化されている.本UCは 32ビット浮動小数点演算を並列処理するデータプロセッサ アドレス計算を行うインデックスユニット 通信を制御するチャネルプロセッサ等主要ユニットが非同期に並列パイプライン動作する・メモリアクセス競合を削減し データ転送を並列化するため 各ユニットはクロスバースイッチにより 4ウェイにインタリーブされたデータメモリと結合されている.これら主要部分は カスタムVLSIを用いて実現した.その結果 本UC1台の画像生成速度はLINKS-1の約50倍に達する.また 並列処理効率についても改善が認められた.本論文では その高速化の手法について述べ シミュレーションによりその効果を明らかにする.

就職活動の対策の中でも,企業研究はその方法を他者に評価される機会が少なく,学生の独善的な内容に陥りやすいという問題点が挙げられる.そこで本研究では,就職活動における学生の企業研究の促進を目的とした,『企業紹介バトル』による新たな企業紹介動画コンテンツの作成手法を提案する.本提案手法は,ビブリオバトルの推薦システムを取り入れた競争型の企業紹介セッションを実施することで,企業研究の成果を学生同士で相互評価し,相互作用を図るものである.作成された動画を就職活動前の学生が視聴した結果,新たに興味を持った企業について自分で調べるという,企業研究のきっかけにつながる行動を起こしていたことが確認できた.

福島第一原子力発電所事故が起き、多数の人が被曝した。政府や被曝医療専門家、メディアは、法令で定められている「被曝はできるだけ減らす」という基本を無視して、被曝を話題にすることさえ過剰反応として抑圧し、被曝回避を軽視する対応をした。大規模な放射能汚染にあたって、政府や行政、医師やメディアは、被曝を回避させ、国民住民を守るために言動すべきであった。

公共図書館が,住民から多様な資料需要に的確に応えるためには,中核館としての県立図書館と市町村立図書館が,有機的な機能協力をすることによって,ひとつの資料提供システムを確立することが大切である。滋賀県立図書館では従来からの協力車による市町村立図書館への巡回活動に加えて,全県的な保存図書館活動を展開するために資料保存センター機能を備えることになった。市町村立図書館における除籍資料で県立図書館未所蔵のものは,新たに県立図書館の資料として受け入れられ県内の市町村立図書館で共同利用できるようになった。平成4年度は約6,000点が受け入れられた。

声質変換とは,ある話者が発した音声を別の話者が発したかのような音声に変換する技術であり,任意の音声を合成する音声合成システムよりも少量の学習データで実現可能である.従来の声質変換ではスペクトルをガウス混合モデル (Gaussian Mixture Model; GMM) でモデル化し,非線形に変換する手法が広く用いられる.しかし,F0 の変換に関してはスペクトルとは独立に線形変換が用いられることが多かった.これは,F0 が有声区間のみで定義されており,無声区間では値を持たず,系列全体を通常の連続分布や離散分布でモデル化することが容易ではないためである.本報告では,多空間上の確率分布 (Multi-Space Probability Distribution; MSD) に基づく GMM (MSD-GMM) を用いたスペクトルと F0 の同時変換手法を提案する.提案法では,F0 の非線形変換が可能になるだけでなく,有声から無声や無声から有声への変換も可能となる.さらに本研究では,F0 の時間方向の変動をモデル化するために MSD-HMM への拡張を検討する.

「ローカルヒーロー」と呼ばれる活動が日本全国で行われている。本稿ではこれらについて,特に活動内容と運営母体の変化について検討する。ローカルヒーローの活動は,地域振興を目的にボランティアで行われると認識されている。しかし実態は地域色を薄めた「ローカルヒーローの地域離れ」が進行しており,また企業や公共機関が活動母体となる例も増えていることが確認された。ローカルヒーローは変化しており,またテレビ番組の模倣ではない,オリジナリティの模索が開始されていることがうかがえる。 The activities called "Local Hero" are performed at almost of all regions in Japan. I study the changes of these activities in the governing body of staffs and the contents of them. Many "Local Hero" activities are carried out at volunteers, and jobs of them are promotion of locality. But recently they are changed. They are often lost the locality. And recently many companies and government offices are carrying these activities. "Local Hero" activities are stopping the imitation of "Major Hero" of TV programs; they begin to put the originality.研究ノート

Experiments exposing Aedes aegypti to winter conditions were conducted at Narita International Airport, Japan during December 2012 to March 2013 to evaluate the possible overwintering of the species. Four and 2 study sites were selected inside and outside the terminal buildings, respectively, and air temperature and relative humidity were recorded hourly at each site. Eggs were placed for 91 or 63 days at each study site, respectively, and the hatching rate and adult emergence rate were examined in March 2013. Under outdoor conditions (daily average of 5.2°C and 57.3%R.H.), 6% of the exposed eggs hatched but no adults emerged. Eggs exposed to indoor conditions (daily average of 14.3–19.4°C and 34.3–36.8%R.H.) showed 2 to 8% adult emergence. Exposure experiments using larvae were conducted for 1 week every month, and their development and survival rate were observed. Under outdoor conditions in January and February 2013, all the exposed larvae died within a week. Larvae placed inside the terminal building developed well and the threshold temperature for larval development was estimated as 10.6°C and 11.6°C for hatched larvae and 4-day-old larvae, respectively.
