宇宙空間から惑星内部にわたる多様な惑星形成・進化の場には,極低温から高温,また真空から超高圧までの,あらゆる外場条件が存在する.氷はこの多様な条件に対応して,自由な陽子の急速な拡散を始めとする多様な性質を示すことが理論的に予想されているが,その実験的立証はいまだに行われ ていない.このような実験を行うためには,従来の高圧実験技術を活用しつつも,さらに新しい手法をその上に作りあげる必要があった.筆者がそのために開発してきたダイヤモンドアンビルセルNMR の手法と成果を解説し,また将来への展望を述べる.

学校での音楽教育において,読譜指導の欠落により,学校生徒たちの読譜能力が低下している問題が挙げられる。楽譜が読めない事は,音楽から興味を無くす原因の一つである。基礎の定着を図らなければならない小学校から中学年までの期間での積極的な読譜指導の導入が重要となるのである。しかし,教育制度の変更に伴い,音楽の授業時間自体が削減され,読譜指導に割ける時間も少なくなったのも事実である。これらの問題を解決するためにも,授業に効率的に導入できる読譜指導方法が必要となる。そこで,楽譜認識を活用した演奏支援ソフトウェアのプログラム作成を試みた。

The research on the relationship between the environmental conditions of the habitat and the speci.es and the individual number was made in respect to the frogs which inhabiting in the Kashima and Tegri River, watershed of Inba Marsh, Chiba Prefecture. The field-survey was carried out from May to July in 1997 and 1998. Walking on the paddy field ridge, the number of the frogs, the walking distance and the environmental factors of the surrounding area were recorded. Then the relationship between the individual density of each species and the environmental conditions was analyzed by means of Hayashi's quantification theory I. As a result, the major factors which would affect the individual density were clarified: The underdrainage of the paddy field, the landuse of the slope, the irrigation system and the arrangements of the canal. Another fact was also revealed that the reformation into well-drained paddy field which is promoted by the farmland consolidatuin tends to have the negative impact on the inhabiting of the Japanese brown frog while it does not have much affect on that of the Japanese tree frog.

Rituals of kingship in some parts of Nigeria represent the main social reality for many people, providing meaning amidst clashing and ineffectual ideologies, and promising security in a politically unstable time. In the Benin kingdom the Oba's power is less than in centuries past, but the ideas underling kingship persist, through myth and ritual, as a general cognitive model. By exploring the meanings of Benin kingship rituals and the contemporary contexts of royal ceremonies this paper shows how court performances and other legitimating icons such as cement statuary give the Bini a sense of stability by tying them into a larger imagined tradition of greatness.

In seinem bekannten Hauptwerk Die Struktur von iki (「いき」の構造 (Iki no Kōzō)) bemüht sich Kuki Shūzō um eine phänomenologisch-hermeneutische Analyse des ästhetisch-moralischen Konzeptes iki in der japanischen Vormoderne. In diesem Aufsatz versuche ich, indem ich mich auf die Gedanken Heideggers und Aristoteles’ berufe, Kukis Einsicht deutlich zu machen, dass iki, insbesondere die Koketterie (媚態 (bitai)) als zentrales Moment des iki, sich auf den sinnlichen Genuss von Bewegung zurückführen lässt. Auf der Grundlage dieser Einsicht analysiert Kuki konsequent auch die vielen konkreten Ausdrücke des iki - etwa die Neigung der körperlichen Haltung oder die Längsstreifen als modische Musterung des vormodernen Japans - und zeigt den Kern der Liebesbeziehung auf als sinnliches Miteinander-anwesend-sein durch die Bewegungsempfindung. In diesem Aufsatz versuche ich zudem zu zeigen, dass dieser Kern, als eine uns im Allgemeinen gegebene Möglichkeit des sinnlichen menschlichen Lebens, auch heute oft von uns selbst gelebt wird, wenn auch in einer ganz anderen Form als im iki. Zur Illustraton führe ich eine Szene aus einem japanischen shōjo-Manga (Comic für Mädchen; heute in Japan auch für Jungen und erwachsene Frauen und Männer), nämlich Tanikawa Fumikos Prisma (プリズム (purizumu)), an und lege diese aus als eine sehr geschickte Darstellung eines auf Bewegung gründenden Miteinander-anwesend-seins.

The scientific basis of the adverse, or at times lethal, effect of ingesting durian (Durio zibethinus Murray) while imbibing alcohol has not been established. Symptoms are reminiscent of the disulfiram–ethanol reaction (DER) arising from the inhibition of aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH). Cognizant of the inhibitory effect of sulphur compounds like disulfiram on ALDH and the rich sulphur content of durian, the influence of durian fruit extract on the ALDH-mediated oxidative metabolism of acetaldehyde was investigated. We report a dose-dependent inhibition of yeast ALDH (yALDH), at most 70% at 0.33 ppm (mg extract/l assay mix), by dichloromethane:pentane extracts. Sulphur-rich TLC fruit extract fractions that eluted farthest from the origin effected the greatest inhibitory action. yALDH assay using diethyl disulfide as internal standard further supports the role of durian’s sulfury constituents in the fruit’s ALDH-inhibiting property. Insight into the etiology of DER-like symptoms felt upon simultaneous durian and alcohol consumption is hereby presented.
