Recreational use of dog walkers in urban open space is one of the concerned issues by managers. There are complains from other visitors, such as unpicked feces, unleashed dogs, or threatening children. In this study, three different types of urban open space were chosen, then dog walkers' behaviors and their attitudes were surveyed. In the public park, dog walkers and other visitors were sharing same space and time. In the dog run, dog walkers took their dogs a few times a week, and let them run freely. In the exterior of one public facility, dog walkers took their dogs frequently to let them run freely. Consequently, this public space was used as if a dog run. To prevent the conflict between dog walkers and other visitors, manner training and some rules are needed, and besides various types of open spaces should be offered.

アサ会は、1930年代、独立伝道者であった田中遵聖(たなか・じゅんせい、本名種助[1886-1958]、以後田中)によって始められたキリスト教運動で、現在の日本バプテスト連盟の前身にあたる日本浸礼派教会西部組合(以後西部組合)に大きな衝撃を与えた。西部組合とは、当時九州に点在していた南部バプテストの流れを汲む諸教会が伝道協力のために組織した団体である。アサ会の存在は、いわゆる「アサ会事件」として教会関係者の間で憶えられているが、その影響は実に西南学院にまで及び、第三代院長G.W.ボールデン(以後ボールデン)の解任を惹き起こした。これについて『西南学院七十年史』は「院長となったボールデンを決定的な窮地に追いこんだのは、『アサ会』事件である」と記し、ボールデンの院長辞任をアサ会との関係で伝えている(『西南学院七十年史』上巻612頁)。本学神学部卒業生のバプテスト史研究者枝光泉は、この「アサ会事件」を「1930年代の初頭にあって、『一教会の独立を認め、他の誰にも干渉されない(バプテスト派の)原則』からは離れていた西部組合が、ミッション依存の体質から抜け出し、歩み出そうとしたときに起った象徴的出来事」と説明している(『宣教の先駆者たち』、240頁)。枝光が指摘するように、「アサ会事件」が優れて教会関係の出来事であるならば、なぜそれが西南学院院長の辞職と結び付けて語られるのだろうか。アサ会に関する研究は、ほとんどなされていないと言っても過言ではない。関連文献も皆無に等しい。強いて挙げれば、田中の息子である直木賞作家田中小実昌(1925-2000)が、『アメン父』で田中とアサ会についてノンフィクション風にその様子を伝えている(因みに、小実昌はこの本で1979年の谷崎潤一郎賞を受賞した)。研究文献に値するものとしては、辛うじて、『日本バプテスト連盟史1889‐1959』(日本バプテスト連盟)、『西南学院七十年史』、枝光の『宣教の先駆者たち』(ヨルダン社、2001年)のみであろう。特に枝光の研究は、現存する唯一の邦文学術研究として貴重である。本稿ではこれら文献から学びつつ、ボールデンの自叙伝(英文、未刊行)、複数の宣教師による活動報告、個人書簡、日記、当時の高等学部教員波多野培根が残した文書を用いて、ボールデンの院長解任から見えてくる西南学院とアサ会の関係を探り、そこから透けて見える学院史の一端を見てみたい。

A translation test is one of the most common reading test methods in Japan, although its reliability and validity have been quite controversial. This study investigated the reliability and validity of translation tests as a measure of reading comprehension in Japanese university entrance examinations, with a particular focus on two research questions: (a) In terms of reliability, what types of translation materials cause difference in rating severity? (b) In terms of validity, what types of sentence can make great differences between translation and comprehension tasks? In order to examine the first research question, four experienced teachers scored English-to-Japanese translations made by 102 university students. Results showed that rating divergence is attributable to raters' different points of scoring (holistic vs. partial), and raters' leniency for inappropriate Japanese expressions or careless mistakes. The second research question was examined by administering 18 sets of translation and reading comprehension tasks to the same participants as above. Results showed that 4 out of 18 English sentences used in Japanese university entrance examinations were considered to be inappropriate as materials for translation tasks when examinees' reading comprehension was intended to be measured.

本稿では機械学習手法の 1 種である Support Vector Regression (SVR) を用いたコンピュータ将棋の Move Ordering (MO) を提案する.MO はコンピュータ将棋の探索を効率化のため可能手をなるべく良い手から順番に先頭から並べかえる手法である.MO では可能手を 1 手ごとに探索して評価関数を適用すると処理に時間が必要であるため効率化の余地が大きい.そこで本稿では可能手から特徴を抽出して SVR で手の優先度を求めて評価関数を用いずに実行できる MO を考案し、MO を高速化して探索を効率化する手法を提案した.本手法の MO をした後にプロが指した手の MO による平均順位を測定したところ既存手法に 2 手ほど及ばなかったが既存手法と近い結果を出した.また速度が速かったため SVR に評価関数を用いた探索の代替手段となりうる可能性が示唆された.しかし,本手法の性能を確認するために 200 回対局を行ったところ,86-111-3 という結果を得て有意に負け越してしまった.This paper proposes Move Ordering (MO) of the computer Shogi using Support Vector Regression (SVR), which is one sort of the watching learning technique. MO is the technique of arranging moves in the order of value of them to increase efficiency of search of computer Shogi. There is room for further improvement in efficiency of MO because it is time - consuming; the move search is performed and the evaluation function is applied one by one. So this paper proposes MO using SVR to speed up MO and enhances efficiency on search. It extracts features of possible moves and gets the priority of moves using SVR. The average rounds of the professional player's moves were checked to evaluate the method. It showed the MO using SVR can alternate move search and evaluation function in the future because the average \difference of ranks was only two and it is faster. However, the move search and evaluation function an outperformed MO using SVR significantly when 200 games were performed. The result was 86-111-3.

This paper tries to analyze the structure of Collective Intelligence (CI) systems from the viewpoint of cognitive science. We regard linguistic communication as a mutual reasoning process, and define CI as system to aggregate and share various interpretations for messages. In addition to we describe how interpretations are shared and affect on "prediction market". Consequently, we argue it is important to aggregate estimations for imprecations by others on degining CI system.

The third generation「Nansei-Maru」is a fishery training vessel of the Faculty of Fisheries, Kagoshima University. This ship was built in November, 2002 to carry out the training for navigation and operation of fishing vessel, training of fishery, observation of ocean environment and investigation of marine creatures. The present paper describes about development of the hull form based on the tank tests. The resistance measurement tests, self-propulsion tests and wake measurements at propeller plane were conducted by use of a ship model of 3.5m long in a towing tank. These tests show the designed hull form is entirely satisfactory for her propulsive performance. Next, rolling measurements were made for three kinds of bilge keels both in calm sea and in waves in order to grasp their rolling characteristics. A ship model of 2.0m long was used in the measurements. From the results, the biggest one shows to be the most effective for anti-rolling and then it was selected as the bilge keels of「Nansei-Maru」. Flow visualization tests around ship bow and stern were also carried out by using the 2.0m ship model in a circulating water channel. It is found that there is no problem for entrainment of air bubbles into the sonar dome and severe turbulence at stern. Finally, sea trial tests by the full scale ship were conducted and it is confirmed that ship speed, turning performance and so on are satisfied for their requirements.

報告では、パプアニューギニア、アベラム社会の婚資の支払いと初潮儀礼における贈り物慣行を分析する。それにより、婚姻後の女性と兄弟との紐帯が弱まり、相対的に女性の位置は夫方親族の方へ引きつけられていると考えられることを示す。あわせて、姻族間の贈り物慣行によって妻方親族へ賠償されるべき身体構成要素(substance)が夫方親族へ留まる傾向が生じていることを示す。
