Isactinernus quadrilobatus Carlgren, 1918, the only species of genus Isactinernus, is characterized by an oral disc with four equally-sized lobes. In 2003 Synactinernus flavus Carlgren, 1918, which is characterized by four large and four small lobes alternately arranged, was synonymized into I. quadrilobatus because the difference of lobe shape was thought to be intraspecific variation, and thus the genus Synactinernus was also synonymized into Isactinernus. However, our molecular phylogenetic analysis of Actinernidae including I. quadrilobatus collected from the Kumano Sea revealed that I. quadrilobatus is genetically distinct from S. flavus. Our morphological comparison between the two species supported the result of the molecular analysis. Consequently, the genus Synactinernus was re-established and separated from Isactinernus. Additionally, during this study, we discovered and described an additional species of the genus, Synactinernus churaumi Izumi and Fujii, 2019.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, non-coding RNA molecules that inhibit protein translation from target mRNAs. Accumulating evidence suggests that miRNAs can regulate a broad range of biological pathways, including cell differentiation, apoptosis, and carcinogenesis. With the development of miRNAs, the investigation of miRNA functions has emerged as a hot research field. Due to the intensive farming in recent decades, chickens are easily influenced by various pathogen transmissions, and this has resulted in large economic losses. Recent reports have shown that miRNAs can play critical roles in the regulation of chicken diseases. Therefore, the aim of this review is to briefly discuss the current knowledge regarding the effects of miRNAs on chickens suffering from common viral diseases, mycoplasmosis, necrotic enteritis, and ovarian tumors. Additionally, the detailed targets of miRNAs and their possible functions are also summarized. This review intends to highlight the key role of miRNAs in regard to chickens and presents the possibility of improving chicken disease resistance through the regulation of miRNAs.

Using special data from the field program of “Impact of Typhoons on the Ocean in the Pacific” (2010) and an ensemble Kalman filter-based vortex initialization method, this study explores the impact of the Taiwan terrain on the uncertainty in forecasting track, intensity and rainfall of Typhoon Fanapi (2010) based on ensemble simulations. The results show that the presence of Taiwan topography leads to rapid growths of the simulation uncertainty in track and intensity during the landfall period, in particular at the earlier landfall period. The fast moving ensemble members show an earlier southward track deflection as well as the weakening of intensity, resulting in a sudden increase of standard deviation in track and intensity. During the period of offshore departure from Taiwan, our analysis suggests that the latitudinal location of the long-lasting and elongated rainband to the south of tropical cyclone (TC) center has a strong dependence on the latitude of the TC center. In addition, the rainfall uncertainty in southern Taiwan is dominated by the uncertainty of simulated TC rainband, and the latitude of TC track can be regarded as a good predictor of the rainband's location at departure time. It is also found that the rainband develop farther to the south as the topography is elevated. Considering the fact that the rainband impinging the high mountains in the southern Central Mountain Range generates the greatest accumulated rainfall, positions where the rainband associated circulation and its interaction with topography appear to offer an explanation on the uncertainty of the simulated rainfall.

The pacific type passenger locometive (type 18900) has been a typical one of locomotives for express trains on the main lines of Japanese Government Railways. In order to meet the requirement for larger tractive power of locomotive, as a result of the introduction or steel cars, causing the increased weight of the train, the three cylinder pacific type locomotive (type C53) has been newly designed, constructed and put in the above mentioned service. In this paper, the writer treats the characteristics and special features in the construction of this new type locomotive.

WolfsonとCarskadon (1998)の科学論文は,たとえば性的思春期,学校スケジュール(始業時刻)そして学業成績などの重要な要因が青年期の子どもの就床時刻と起床時刻の遅れに影響を与えていることを強調し,そうした睡眠習慣の乱れが今度は日中の活動性の低下を招く可能性があるとした。本稿は彼らの研究の意義をわが国の睡眠教育との関連から再考した。まず,彼らの研究は子どもの睡眠習慣の疫学的,発達的アプローチの教育的意義を明確した。第2に,2002年の日本学術会議で承認された新しい学際的な睡眠科学である睡眠学の創設に寄与した。第3に,環境的圧力(学校スケジュール)が青年期の子どもの睡眠に与える影響を批判的に論じた。それは始業時間の遅延や昼休み中の仮眠の効果を実験的に検討する近年の研究を触発している。特筆すべきはWolfsonと Carskadon自らの結果を睡眠パターンと学業成績の1対1の対応関係を示すものではないと慎重に考察している点である。しかし,そうした考察は睡眠パターンを従属変数および独立変数として理解する点においてわが国の睡眠学には十分な紹介がされていないように思われる。もっとも注目される彼らの知見の一つは,学業を適切にこなすには少なくとも7時間20分の睡眠時間が青年期の子どもたちには必要であり,そうでなければ貧弱な睡眠習慣が日中の気分や行動に悪影響を与える可能性が大きくなるという事実である。これは青年期の子どもたちの睡眠をできる限り優先する環境の調節を必要としているということであり,わが国においても同様のことが言えよう。

本研究では,反転授業における学習者のニーズの多様性に対応するために,UDLの理論に基づき,複数の事前学習用コンテンツを提供する授業デザインを構築した。コンテンツの種類として,パワーポイントによる視聴コンテンツと,授業者が映る実際の授業に近い形の視聴コンテンツを準備し,授業を実践した。学生のコンテンツの選択や嗜好に関する調査の結果から,学生は実際の授業に近いコンテンツを好んで視聴する傾向はあるものの,いずれの種類のコンテンツも一定数の学生が選択したことが認められた。この結果から,学生の視聴コンテンツに対するニーズは一様ではないことが示され,反転授業のコンテンツに対してUDLの枠組みが適用可能であることが考えられた。一方で,当該授業デザインにおいてもなお事前学習用コンテンツを視聴しない学生が存在した。それらの学生の内的状態や授業内活動について更に詳細に検討することが課題となった。

In this paper the mechanism of contact- or tribo-electrostatic charging of powder was briefly reviewed.Although it is often referred that ‘electrostatics is mysterious’, but the fact should be noted that the entire system of the electromagnetism, such as Coulomb’s law, is ultimately well established. After this, there are parts of knowledge on electrostatics as well understood, miss-understood sometimes, and questions leftover, and these should be separated carefully. The central question to be answered is how much amount of charge is held by each particle. On this topic, two mechanisms of charge generation and of charge fixation were reviewed and discussed in general.

The development of social capital in an online community was investigated by creating survey data of online game players. The results showed that the frequency of collective communication, the homogeneity of members, and the openness of the online community had positive effects on trust, while the size of community and community hierarchy had negative effects. This shows that participation in online communities can create social capital. Furthermore, the results showed that online social capital influences real-life behavior. For example, reciprocity online facilitated offline social participation, even after controlling for offline social capital and other real-life determinants. These results demonstrate the positive contribution of collective online communication to a democratic social system.

本論文は、イノベーションを機に現れる新規参入企業の戦略について、企業が新技術をどのように評価するかに焦点をあて、戦略決定とその成敗に影響を及ぼす要因を検討する。ディスカッションの中では本事例とChristensen and Bower (1996) の事例を比較し、彼らの議論の精緻化と新規参入企業の採る戦略について示唆を与えている。

九州西部,五木北部地域の黒瀬川帯に分布する整然相砕屑岩類において,上部三畳系の上位を覆う下部ジュラ系が見出された.研究地域の上部三畳系は二枚貝化石によりCarnian階とされており,坂本地域の松求麻層に対比される.三畳系の上位を覆うジュラ系は,放散虫化石に基づくとHettangian階を含む可能性が高い.本研究ではこの下部ジュラ系を平沢津谷層と命名した.平沢津谷層は下部の粗粒砂岩厚層を主とする部分と上部の黒色泥岩を主とする部分から構成される.松求麻層と平沢津谷層の境界には上部三畳系Norian階およびRhaetian階の欠如が認められ,また境界を介して上下の地層の姿勢には差がないことから,三畳系-ジュラ系境界の関係は平行不整合と判断される.
