児童・生徒の自然体験と理科に対する意識について調査を行った。自然体験の多いグループでは,小学生と中学生で共通に,「理科が大好き」と回答した割合が高い。一方,自然体験の多くないグループでは,「理科が大好き」の割合は,小学生でやや高いものの,中学生では低かった。「理科の勉強が楽しいか」,「将来,理科を使うことが含まれる仕事につきたいか」に対する回答においては,自然体験の多少と明確な関係は見られなかった。

国際頭痛学会分類の診断基準を使用した慢性頭痛の大規模な疫学調査が日本でも行われ,片頭痛の有病率は15歳以上の人口の8.4%と多いことが明らかにされた。片頭痛のために日常生活がかなり犠牲になっている人も多く,約74%の人がかなりの支障度に悩まされている。その割に,片頭痛に対する認識度は低く,定期的に医療機関を受診している人は全体の2.7%にすぎない。片頭痛により患者が大きな犠牲を強いられていることは社会にとっても大きな損失であり,経済的損失としても大きい。最近,片頭痛治療薬に大きな進歩がみられている。新しい薬剤を正しく使用するために,医療側,患者側いずれの認識も高まることが必要である。

There is a need for novel drugs for sarcoma treatment. In the present study, to identify inhibitors with potential therapeutic utility in sarcomas, we screened the growth inhibitory effects of 361 inhibitors, including experimental reagents and anti-cancer drugs approved for use in non-sarcoma malignancies and those under clinical trials. The inhibitors were initially tested using 10 osteosarcoma cell lines. The half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of leptomycin B, actinomycin D, chetomin, and staurosporine was <100 nM in all the cell lines. As the promiscuous effects of staurosporine on kinases make it unsuitable for clinical applications, the other three inhibitors were tested in an additional 15 sarcoma cell lines derived from synovial sarcoma, fibrosarcoma, liposarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor, leiomyosarcoma, and Ewing’s sarcoma. The IC50 of leptomycin B and actinomycin D was <100 nM in all cell lines and that of chetomin was <100 nM in all but three synovial sarcoma cell lines. Although the clinical development of leptomycin B, a chromosomal region maintenance (CRM)1/exportin (XPO)1 inhibitor, was discontinued because of toxicity, a previous clinical trial revealed that other CRM1/XPO1 inhibitors, such as selinexor, have anti-tumor effects in sarcomas. Actinomycin D has proven clinical utility in the treatment of sarcomas. Chetomin disrupts the interaction of hypoxia-inducible factor-1 with the transcriptional coactivator p300 and its clinical utility has not been established in sarcomas. Chetomin exhibited growth inhibitory effects on sarcoma cells with different histological subtypes. Library screening is a powerful approach to detect the potential utility of anti-cancer drugs in sarcoma treatment.

The ultrastructure of the secretory endpiece of the rat sublingual gland was examined in samples prepared by rapid freezing and freeze-substitution method, and results were analyzed in combination with 3-D images reconstructed by computer graphics from light micrographs of serial sections. Fixation by rapid freezing followed by freeze-substitution preserved cellular ultrastructures, especially the membrane structure, in perfect condition, and demonstrated the terminal portion of the sublingual gland to be a compound branched tubulo-alveolar gland with serous cells distributed throughout the end-pieces. All the serous cells aligned with mucous cells to surround a common lumen, leaving no demilune structure. In contrast, samples fixed by the conventional immersion method showed distended mucous cells displacing the serous cells toward the basal portion of the acinus to form the demilune structure. The luminal space was also compressed and appeared disconnected from the serous cells. From these observations, the serous demilune that for more than 130 years has been believed to be an actual histological entity was proved to be an artificial structure produced through compression by the hydrated and expanded mucous cells during immersion fixation.

産学官連携のステップを「基礎研究―開発研究―商品化」と置き,それぞれのステップを遂行する機関を当てはめると,アメリカ合衆国とヨーロッパでは大きな差がみられる.アメリカでは大学の活動が開発研究に大きく及んでいて技術移転は容易に行われる.また,そのために起業家教育とエンジェルやベンチャーキャピタルによる資金支援が十分に機能している.一方ヨーロッパでは大学のミッションは基礎研究にあると考えられているため,開発研究には特別なミッションを持った開発研究を重点的に行う研究機関が置かれている.政府の役割は大きく,それらの研究機関の支援,およびスタートアップ企業への支援も行っている.我が国では大学は基礎研究志向であり,また開発研究を行う機関が脆弱であるという弱点がある.

平成16年から死刑確定者数は急増し、死刑の基準の明確化が必要である。筆者は以前、死刑判決の具体的量刑基準を明らかにしようと試みた。しかし、闇サイト事件はこの基準を超えるのではないかと思われる。また、検察側の立証方法が、裁判員制度を意識し過ぎたために過度に生々しいものになっているのではないかとの批判もある。そして、月ヶ瀬村殺人事件のように、無期懲役を甘受しながらも刑務所の中で自殺してしまう人もいる。主観的要素を判断することは非常に難しい。いずれにしても、死刑判決という非常に厳しい情況下においても、裁判員は中立であるように努めなければならない(検察官も同様である)。

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among job satisfaction, job involvement, and work motivation. Two hundred thirty-nine sales people completed a questionnaire of job satisfaction (pay, interpersonal relationship, work environment, and job content), job involvement, and work motivation. The data were analyzed with covariance structure analysis, and the model, which was constructed beforehand, fitted well with relatively high GFI and AGFI. Results of the analysis showed that job satisfaction, in terms of pay and interpersonal relationship, influenced job content satisfaction, which in turn indirectly influenced work motivation, mediated through job involvement. In addition, the data indicated that satisfaction with customer relationship was strongly related to job content satisfaction in the sample of sales people.

公園設計競技における当選者の位置づけと作品の扱いは,設計競技の過程と競技後という2つの段階において把握できる。1983年以降の実現を前提とした公園設計競技の各応募要項では設計者と作品に関する記述に相違がみられた。また競技後,当選案を実現していくプロセスでの設計者の位置づけを設計意図の伝達という観点からみると4つの段階を想定することができ,これらの段階の詳細を事例によって検証した。こうした相違や段階の発生は,設計・施工という実現のプロセスで設計者の裁量をどこまで期待するかという主催者側の判断によるものであり,それはその裁量を造園設計委託の慣例に適合させるか否かを根拠とするものであると推察した。
