Hayabusa, launched May 2003, is the first Japanese spacecraft to explore the small asteroid Itokawa (1998SF36) and touched down on Itokawa twice to sample of the surface material. LIDAR (LIght Detection And Ranging) is an important navigation sensor for the asteroid explorer to measure distance between the spacecraft and the asteroid. Since it is carried in a planetary exploration spacecraft, the weight of LIDAR is very lightweight of 3.7kg. In the rendezvous and touchdown operation, LIDAR supplied the ranging data to the spacecraft navigation system to approach Itokawa down to 50m and its total shots number of laser pulse was more than 4 million. The composition and basic performance of LIDAR are explained and this paper also reports the ranging data at the time of landing to asteroid Itokawa of the autumn of 2005.

再演実行を基礎とする従来の並列プログラムのデバッギング手法では,バグの原因をたどる過程で,頻繁にプログラムの再実行をしなくてはならない.実行の行き過ぎによる再実行の回数を減らすためには,実行途中でブレークポイント設定が必要になり,ユーザの負担が大きくなる.そこで我々は,再演実行手法に基づきながら,プログラム先頭からの再実行をせずに並列プログラムを過去の状態に戻し,そこから実行を再開することを可能にする"巻き戻し実行"機構を提案する.本提案の巻き戻し実行機構では,並列プログラムを構成する任意のプロセスを,任意の受信イベントの時点に戻すことができ,これを基礎にすべてのプロセスまたは一部のプロセスだけをプログラムの途中から実行させることができる.我々は並列言語Orgel に対して巻き戻し実行機構を実装し,性能評価を行った.その結果通常実行に対して,イベント順序保存実行で7%,巻き戻しのための状態保存実行で13%増という,小さいオーバヘッドで動作させることができた.In debugging a parallel program with conventional replay based method, the programmer has to rerun the program repeatedly from its beginning, because the code the programmer wants to examine next might have already gone beyond the breakpoint. To prevent the program from overrunning, the programmer must set breakpoints with much care in the complicated parallel program. Thus we propose a rollback mechanism, which allows the programmer to rerun the program halfway of it. Using this mechanism, the programmer may rollback any process of the target program to any receive event on its event graph. We applied our rollback mechanism to a parallel programming language named Orgel, and evaluate the overhead of logging and rollback. The result shows that execution time of event logging and computational state saving mode for rollback are only 7% and 13% larger than normal execution respectively.

The instrument of chronic deep brain stimulation consists of implantable electrode, implantable receiver and stimulator. There are two systems, one is radiofrequency transmitter stimulating system which has battery at out side of body and other is multiprogrammable totally implantable neurostimulator which include battery. As the radiofrequency transmitter stimulating system is popular in Japan, explanation of the equipment and clinical experienecs for chronic deep brain stimulation are reported in this paper.According to our experience of 71 cases, there is no problem about the instrument and no serious complication with chronic application of this instrument. Then it is thought as a accomplished instruments.In future, multielectrode stimulating system which is controlled by specific delay stimulation will be necessary. And also other type of stimulating electrode which has the function of local drug application may be important.

Daniel Bernoulli (1700-1772) is known for his masterpiece Hydrodynamica (1738), which presented the original formalism of "Bernoulli's Theorem," a fundamental law of fluid mechanics. Previous historical analyses have assumed that Daniel solely used the controversial principle of "conservation of vis viva" to introduce his theorem in this work. The "vis viva controversy" began in the 1680s between Cartesians, who defended the importance of momentum, and Leibnizians, who defended vis viva, as the basis of mechanics. In the 1720s, various Newtonians entered the dispute and sided with the crucial role of momentum. Since then, historians believed that 18th century natural philosophers regarded "vis viva" as incompatible with and opposed to Newtonian mechanics. This article argues that to introduce his theorem, Bernoulli not only used the principle of the conservation of vis viva but also the acceleration law, which originated in Newton's second law of motion. By looking at how eighteenth century scholars actually solved the challenging problems of their period instead of looking only at their philosophical claims, this paper shows the practice of mechanics at that time was far more pragmatic and dynamic than previously realized.

"Documentation Wall(DW)" is an expression that visually records the activity in the workshop on the wall in the event space. The activity is drawn like the picture scroll in order of time by the expression that combines the photograph, the text, and figure. The feature of DW is to be drawn the content of the participant's activity in real time. By watching DW, the participants can reflect and define of their activity on the way or the end of workshop. For the organizer, DW can be used as the example to explain the workshop program, or as the material for upgrade of the following workshop. For the audience who are visiting the workshop, it is possible to be interested in the content by knowing the participant's activity by DW.

脳卒中後のリハビリテーションで損傷部位の脳機能は重要な情報であるが、文献数が膨大で損傷部位の機能を俯瞰的に見ることは困難である。そこで、米国国立医学図書館 (NLM)のPubMed文献データベースを脳局所の用語と脳機能の用語を同時に検索し、文献の有無により機能を解析した。また、前頭前野については、全文献の抄録をダウンロードし、テキストマイニングで解析し、脳局所の機能情報を可視化可能となった。

The time capsule [Biological and Environmental Specimens Time Capsule] aims at the storage of biological and environmental data on contemporary earth until 1000 year future from now on. In order to make the samples kept in the capsule for ultra-long time useful in judging that of biological and environmental degradation of the earth comparing the data with 1000 year time difference, two conditions for the biological contents in the capsule are necessary they are: (1) oxygen free and (2) temperature below -60℃, which should strictly be fulfilled for 1,000 years. The ultra-long-term recorder has been developed which is energized by the stored energy of the materials. The time span [t] is regulated by the torsion creep behavior of pure copper. The pressure [P] in the capsule is to be monitored by a pen cylinder type pressure gauge, and temperature [T] by bimetal. All these three essential key values: P, T, in the capsule and time are to be recorded on the clean surface of metal plate with the scratch of the needles, which follows on each sensor. The extrapolation of the torsion creep data gives approximately 8 rotations on time scale shaft, which leads us to the 40mm transverse motion of scratch needles during 1000 year [3×10^<10>sec] lapse of time.

The purpose of this study is to clarify the effects of parenting during child socialization on the following three points. First, describing the transformation of parents' educational awareness and their behavior toward their children as the child grows. Second, whether parents' educational awareness varies according to locality. Third, how gender problems occur. In this paper, we report in four parts : parents-child relationship, parents' educational behavior, parents' thinking of desirous character for their child's future, and parents' educational experience. We relate these themes with children's degree, their locality and gender. Concerning gender, we analyze differences in parents' educational consciousness or educational behavior according to the child's sex. Further, we show that the mother's consciousness of gender is itself prescribed by her social class and educational qualifications, moreover there are correlations between the mother's educational career and her type of work. In different social classes, if people show variation in their awareness of children's education, whether it will be connected to the reproduction of social class.
