本研究は,固有の地域文化を活用して地域再活性化を図るには,どのようなアプローチが有効であるかを考察することを目的としている。筆者らは,典型的な密集市街地である墨田区京島および横浜市鶴見区において,地域文化の使い方に関わる「まちの家」および「鶴見スタジオ」プロジェクトを実践してきた。それらを調査対象とし,そのプロセスや成果を「文化政策」「空間化」の観点から分析することを研究の方法としている。地域資源として見出された「長屋」「レストラン」「公共空間」「社会関係資本」といった要素を文化政策として扱っていくには,「空間の読解可能性」が重要な要件であることがわかった。

Effect of metallographical factors on the rolling fatigue life of 1%C-1.5%Cr bearing steel was investigated, and the most profitable component for the bearing life was discussed.The results obtained are as follows:(1) Metallographical factors affected on the rolling fatigue life of bearing steel were not amount and size of residual cementite but the chemical compositions soluted in fhe matrix.(2) The most effective factor affected on the rolling fatigue life was carbon content soluted in the matrix and the most desirable carbon content in the matrix was about 0.5 percent.(3) It was recognized that the mechanism of flaking was related to the third stage of the tempering of martensite. This was deduced from the observation of the micro-structure of cyclic stressed area by the transmission electron microscopy and the result of bearing life test of a new type steel with higher silicon of which the starting temperature of the third stage was rised by silicon.

Bin picking robot plays an important role in automated manufacturing in industries. One of the most important techniques of bin picking robot is object detection or pose estimation in bin scene, and recently various methods reported good performance. Some industrial parts have its 3D CAD model that can represent whole shape of those parts; hence these methods are based on comparing the model of target object with the scene measured by camera or 3D sensors. However, almost all foods handled at factory do not have fixed shape against the recent demand of automating pick and place task. Therefore model-based techniques cannot be applied. In this paper, we propose a method of object detection without its 3D CAD model by utilizing target surface area information and concavity of boundaries between respective individuals. We evaluate proposed method against some foods and show the effectiveness of the method.

The Oriental genus Uromedina is revised. Uromedina rufipes sp. nov. is described and illustrated from Japan. Three known species, atrata, caudata and eumorphophaga, are redescribed and illustrated. Females of atrata and caudata are described for the first time. A key to the 4 species of the genus is provided.

Purpose: We aimed to compare the efficacy of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in patients undergoing mitral valve (MV) surgery with or without giant left atria.Methods: This retrospective, single-center, cohort study investigated patients who underwent MV surgery and concomitant RFA from 2009 to 2019. Patients were divided into non-giant left atria (diameter ≤65 mm, n = 1543) and giant left atria (diameter >65 mm, n = 241) groups. Five-year freedom from atrial tachyarrhythmia recurrence and thromboembolic event (TE) rates were assessed with death as the competing risk factor with and without propensity-score matching.Results: Patients with giant left atria had higher mortality (10.8% versus 6.2%, P = 0.008) and readmission rates for heart failure than those without (12.0% versus 6.8%, P = 0.004). Atrial tachyarrhythmia recurrence rates were higher in patients with giant left atria than in those without (49% versus 24% at 5 years, P <0.001), but the cumulative incidence of TEs before (P = 0.944) and after (P = 0.695) propensity-score matching was comparable.Conclusions: RFA effectively prevented TEs in patients with giant left atria, despite significant atrial tachyarrhythmia recurrence. Atrial tachyarrhythmia recurrence did not increase the risk of TEs. A lower success rate should be considered when deciding whether to perform surgical ablation in patients with giant left atria.
