Only a small portion out of –200 steel-makers in the world can produce high-grade steel such as hot-dip galvanized steel sheets and directional electrical steel sheets. For equipment-related industry such as steel industry, technical knowledge is embodied in their equipment; thus, technology transfer and catch-up are somewhat easy. However, for high-grade steel production, steel-makers in emerging countries equipped with large-scale capital investment and state-of-the-art equipment capital investment continued to struggle. The reason for this is when a new process is added to the existing process and not just the added process, the operational parameters of all processes must be coordinated. Thus, when a number of processes increases, it leads to a massive number of combinations of operational parameters to be coordinated, thus requiring time to acquire knowledge patterns.

Recently, online black markets and anonymous virtual currencies have become the subject of academic research, and we have gained a certain degree of knowledge about the dark web. However, as terms such as deep web and dark net, which have different meanings, have been used in similar contexts, discussions related to the dark web tend to be confusing. Therefore, in this paper, we discuss the differences between these concepts in an easy-to-understand manner, including their historical circumstances, and explain the technology known as onion routing used on the dark web.

In extant studies regarding value stream mapping (VSM) and cross-functional integration in Western journals, there is a deviation from the essence of lean production and flow management, which aim at overall optimization by focusing on the flow of the entire value chain as well as material and information flow, and empirical studies based on the actual state of material and information flow have not been sufficiently conducted. To proceed with the overall optimization of the material and information flow in the supply and value chain—with progress in globalization and digitalization as seen in recent Japanese manufacturing companies—it is necessary to return to basics to grasp the “actual state of the flow” by focusing on the entire material and information flow and to conduct empirical studies on factors contributing to these flows.

In closed innovation (CI), each firm does R&D on its own; however, on the other hand, in open innovation (OI), companies use knowledge from external sources when necessary or let other firms use their proprietary technologies. Chesbrough (2003) pointed out the effectiveness of OI. OI is accompanied by (1) outsourcing dilemma that prevents a firm from getting a competitive advantage when rival firms can also gain the knowledge from same external sources, (2) integrator's dilemma, which occur when firms sell parts to assemblers that produce and sell the same product, thus becoming formidable rivals, and (3) modularity trap, whereby when it is necessary to redesign the total product structure due to radical product innovations, the firm which selected open modular architecture and OI cannot respond because knowledge has dispersed among firms. OI is not necessarily the most efficient choice when these dilemmas or traps exist.

Much research has been conducted on the role of the middle manager; however, most of the studies in research on this topic have focused on the middle manager's managerial work. However, upon surveying 2,183 managers at Japanese firms, we found that 87% of managers were actually engaged in nonmanagerial work. Furthermore, in extreme cases where middle managers responded that there was either not enough or too much non-managerial work, team performance was poor, while in cases where middle managers did an appropriate amount of nonmanagerial work, team performance was good.

Engagement as a concept is gaining attention in research and management practices. However, there are several types of engagement depending on whether the focus is on work and jobs or companies and organizations. In this paper, we demonstrate the following three points based on comparative analysis of the concepts of work engagement and employee engagement: (a) Both terms are used with the same frequency in academic journals in the field of management, but non-academic sources consistently use “employee engagement,” while medical and nursing articles use “work engagement.” (b) “Work engagement” may be used in this way because the term originated in research of burnout among nurses working in hospitals. (c) While much research does not adequately differentiate the two concepts, they should be treated as distinct concepts due to their distinct origins and the content they measure.

本研究の背景は,1960年代のアメリカにおける美術批評教育にある。フェルドマン(Edmund Feldman)は,当時の著名な美術批評モデルの提案者である。本研究の目的は,フェルドマンの批評モデルの形成へ影響を及ぼした文献の調査にある。先ず,彼の文献を調査し,批評モデルが最初にあらわれた文献を特定する。次に,先行研究において指摘された批評プロセスへの影響を考察する。第3に,1960年代のフェルドマンの文献へあらわれた批評プロセスの性質について考察する。最後に,影響を及ぼしたとみられる文献を考察する。

ややもすると、改作は原作よりも低く評価されがちであるが、必ずしもそうとばかりはいえない。改作がなければ原作そのものが今日にいたるまで伝えられなかったといえる。そこには明らかに原作に対する改作者の作品解釈があり、その当時の観客の感性や思考が直接、間接に影響をおよぼしているはずである。それをもういちど評価しなおしていくことは今後の浄瑠璃研究にとっても重要な課題のひとつと考えられる。改作をそのように理解したうえで、そこに示されている改作の原作に対する作品解釈を手掛かりにして、原作の作劇法について考えてみたいというのが本稿の試みである。具体的には『傾城反魂香』を手掛りにして、その改作『名筆傾城鑑』との比較考察を試み、原作のドラマを推進する女主人公としての、みやの造型に迫る。

The use of Tris (2-ethylhexyl) trimellitate (TOTM) as an alternative to di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) as a plasticizer in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) medical devices is steadily increasing. Four types of administration sets are available : general-type sets made of PVC using DEHP (DEHP-PVC) or TOTM (TOTM-PVC) as a plasticizer, pump-type sets made of DEHP-PVC, and those made of polybutadiene (PB). Since the elution of plasticizer from administration sets when specific drugs are passed though them is a matter of concern, in the present study, we compared the amounts of plasticizer eluted from these 4 types of administration sets after passing fat emulsion through them, for different drip rate.The concentrations of plasticizer eluted were lowest for the TOTM-PVC administration set, followed in ascending order by the general-type DEHP-PVC and pump-type DEHP-PVC sets. Neither DEHP nor TOTM was detected for the PB set. For the general-type administration set, the maximum concentrations of TOTM and DEHP eluted were obtained with a drip rate of 10 mL/hr, which were 0.38μg/mL for TOTM and 10.32μg/mL for DEHP, respectively. At a drip rate of 80 mL/hr, the maximum concentration of DEHP was 0.97μg/mL but TOTM was not detected. These results indicate that TOTM is less easily eluted than DEHP and that TOTM-PVC is an excellent material for administration sets in view of its low elution characteristics, though care needs to be taken with regard to drug adsorption.

本研究の目的は,21世紀の情報環境の特性を踏まえ,美術教育における質的探究のモデルを再考することにある。本研究は,探究学習のモデルの一例として,フェルドマン(EdmundFeldman)の批評プロセスに焦点をあて,彼の批評行為の実演部にみられる解釈を中心に考察する。本研究は,学習者が,2つの探究間に揺れ,質的ジレンマ(葛藤)学習を提案し,21世紀のメデイア環境の時代における批評教育としての意義を位置付ける。

This study deals with the landscaping heritages on BENTENJIMA resort areas (MAISAKA, SHIZUOKA) .The aim of this paper is to make clear the relation between landscaping heritages and changing process of land use. By the study some knowledge was acquired as follows. 1) The sustainability of landscaping heritages related to keeping site largeness. 2) The group of heritages have the sustainability to make highly. 3) The large site keep trees if the site change its use. 4) In reclaimed land, urban spatial planning influenced that sustainability.

This paper examines whether elementary school students’ understanding of parallel and serial connections of dry cells was improved by teaching the concept of electric voltage.Students in the experimental group were taught the concept of electric voltage for 20 minutes using analogy of water flow, such as, the dry cell is like a water pump to uplift water and the voltage stands for the height of uplift.The experimental group, who was taught electric voltage, showed a significantly higher achievement score than the control group in the post test. Moreover, the way of thinking about the brightness of the miniature bulb differed between groups on the circuit in which three dry cells were connected parallel.On the other hand, students in the experimental group showed more scientific answers to a descriptive question about electricity compared to the control group. The concrete understanding about phenomena regarding electricity may promote a scientific way of thinking.The results of this study imply that we can introduce the concept of electric voltage to elementary school science class if we exercise ingenious ways of teaching, even though the concept is not being taught under the present elementary school curriculum in Japan.

In 1935 the Forth Fleet of the Imperial Navy encountered a typhoon in the occasion of the naval grand maneuvers in the Pacific Ocean off the northern coast of Honshu Island of Japan, and many naval vessels of the fleet were damaged. Destroyers “HATSUYUKI” and “YUGIRI” lost their fore bodies being splitted in front of bridges with 51 crews on board. They were designed on the basis of the theories and experiments of those days ; they had long forecastles with large flare for high performance in rough seas, and their section moduli were designed to be in proportion to the estimated longitudinal bending moment for the reduction of hull weight.In this paper the authors attempt to analyze the disaster of the two destroyers theoretically with the aid of the knowledge available today. The wave bending moments acting on the destroyers are calculated for several wave conditions by TSLAM based on the nonlinear theory of ship motions, and they are compared with the ultimate moment. It is shown from the calculated results that the sagging moments are increased by slamming to the flare and buoyancy of the long forecastle dipped into a wave. If the longitudinal strength were designed in such a manner that the section modulus had an almost constant value sufficiently far towards the fore body of the vessel, the disaster of the two destroyers could have been avoided.
