We find out the Japanese emotion in mediaeval times with one's architectural space, as the result of analizing and considering the architectural terms in KOKINSYU and SHINKOKINSYU. In KOKINSHU,in the terms represent house, YADO is superior to other terms. And it find out the pessimism is related life from poet that include SUMAU. In SHINKOKINSHU, YADO is ordinary used, and IHO is appeared. These mean that the aesthetic of temporary and WABI residence are developed in emotion of this age. And we find out that emotion of architectural space grew variety from the terms represent part increased.

Both calcined shell calcium, which was recently reported to have bactericidal effects on Escherichia coli O157 : H7, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus, and calcium oxide, which is the main component in calcined shell calcium, were examined as a bactericide against Legionella species. A calcined shell calcium solution of 0.025% or above reduced L. pneumophila counts from the original 7.0 × 106 CFU/ml to less than 300 CFU/ml after an incubation period of 1 hr. In water samples taken from the cooling tower of a prefabricated house, a calcined shell calcium solution of 0.05% or above reduced L. pneumophila counts to less than 10 CFU/ml after an incubation period of 1 hr. There was no difference between the bactericidal effects of the calcined shell calcium manufactured from the shells of surf clams and that manufactured from oysters; surf clams and oysters are equally effective. Calcium oxide also showed similar bactericidal effects against L. pneumophila, and thus we believe that the effect is not specific to calcined shell calcium, but rather to effects caused by the alkalinity of calcium oxide. The use of calcium oxide or calcined shell calcium as a bactericidal agent against Legionella species in the cooling tower water of hotels or other buildings is therefore expected.

From 1920 to 1921, Bertrand Russell lectured in China at the Peking Government University, and came to Japan in July 1921. His thoughts were received enthusiastically by Young China. Russell also loved the Chinese character and culture deeply. On the other hand, he was ill-impressed by Japan, and had difficulties with the police and newspaper cameramen. Consequently, his contact with Japan was not as intimate as that with China. But doubts can be raised as to whether Russell’s relationship with China was as deep as it appeared, when it is noticed, first, that some progressive Chinese became angry about Russell’s admiration of the traditional Chinese culture. Secondly, Russell and his lover Dora, who frequently clashed over other points, found themselves in perfect agreement about China, perhaps because they failed to understand China properly. In short, Japan and China, seemingly quite different for Russell, lay equally outside the range of his sympathies. Russell wrote that the Chinese reminded him of the English in their merits. Thus it may be concluded that Russell simply read merits and demerits of his true object of interest, England or the West, into these two Eastern countries.

Terraced paddy fields landscapes are evaluated as typical of the cultural landscape, the importance of the terraced paddy fields in terms of environment and landscape conservation have been described. However, in recent years, the continuation of the conservation of the terraces paddy fields landscape is getting harder with the reduction of farmers due to depopulation and aging in agricultural settlements. This study focuses on visibility of terraced paddy fields landscape and management agent of terraced paddy fields in large areas such as municipalities. Based on its results, this study also considers the conservation strategies of paddy fields on slope land in the future. The visibility of terraced paddy fields landscape are identified by slope angle of the paddy fields, view of the paddy fields from the main roads, and cohesiveness of lots of paddy fields. 17% of the paddy fields with good visibility were managed by the certified farmers. On the other hand, 57% of the paddy fields with good visibility were managed by small-scale paddy fields farmers whose total management area is less than 1ha. From the case studies of selected agricultural settlement, importance of mechanism to continue the agricultural management by small-scale farmers was considered.

Th is study analyzes the location of 164 renowned Japanese gardens in the Kyoto basin, that is the Kamogawa alluvial fan and the Katsuragawa fl ood plain. Th e gardens were mapped using Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. Th e mapped data indicate that physiographic environments constrain the location of the gardens. Rock gardens (karesansui type gardens) are located accross the whole area of the alluvial fan, while water gardens (chisen type gardens) are concentrated along the piedmont spring zones and the artifi cial canals of the irrigation system known as the Biwako sosui (constructed in 1890). In brief, hydrological conditions aff ect the location of Japanese gardens, which is primarily constrained by surface geomorphic units.

Yato (small valley with paddy field) in the urban area is important habitat for rural animals. Yato is a rural landscape made up of coppice forests, grasslands and farmlands. We discussed relations between the fauna and distribution of small rodents and land use of Yato landscape in the southwest Tama hills. As a result, Japanese large field mouse (Apodemus speciosus), house mouse (Mus musculus), brown rat (Rattus norvegicus) and harvest mouse (Micromys minutus) were observed by trappings and finding nests. Habitat utilization by these rodents were recognized as follows. 1. A. speciosus were dominant species in the survey area. They used all elements (coppice forest, farmland, grassland and paddy field) in Yato. It was considered that its main habitat was the coppice forest. 2. M. musculus utilized the farmland as its main habitat. 3. M. minutus were utilized the confined grassland. 4. R. norvegicus were captured only a few individuals at the farmland. When the mean range lengths were considered by the method of capture-recapture, it was clarified that A. speciosus had longer range lengths than any other species. It was suggested that landscape mosaics in Yato were important as rodent habitat. We concluded that managing land-use patterns of Yato is required to effectively conserve the rodents' diversity and their habitats.

『和字正濫鈔』における契沖の仮名遣研究の本質とは、定家仮名遣などの仮名遣書にあるような「どの仮名で書くか」という仮名遣の規範を示すことにあるのではなく、語が本来、「どのような音をもち」、「その音がどのような仮名で現され」、さらに「どのような意義をもつか」という形音義を示すことにあることを明らかにした。『和字正濫要略』は、その題名の通り『和字正濫鈔』の抄出のように見えるが、仮名遣書として仮名遣の規範を示すに止まり、編纂方針に大きな方向転換があることを明らかにした。契沖の『和字正韻』は、契沖が字音仮字遣の研究を行っていた証左となる文献であることを明らかにした。

本研究では,解答解説機能付き微積分ソルバの開発を行った.開発した自動解答ソルバは,主に大学生1年生レベルの微積分学について,教育目的として開発された.今まで,数式処理ソフトは多数開発されてきたが,解説を付与するものは少なく,答えのみを返すものが多かった.そこで本研究では,計算結果を出力するだけではなく,導出過程も出力し,加えて,グラフ描画や,接線を求める機能,Taylor展開や偏微分といった問題にも対応できるソルバの開発を行った.本ソルバでは,本学部1年生の講義「微積分学I」の期末試験の過去問について,70%の精度で解答として通用するものを作成できた.また現在,ソルバで解けない問題に対しても,ヒントを提示するようにして,対処している.
