The pseudo-Gomberg reaction of 1-substituted pyrrole derivatives with substituted anilines was examined. Pyrrole derivatives with electron-attracting groups at the 1-position, i.e., ethoxycarbonyl, methanesulfonyl, and benzoyl groups, were found to react smoothly with nitroaniline, chloroaniline and aniline. In each case, 2-arylated pyrrole derivatives were obtained in good or moderate yields.

The 1-oxido-4-pyridyl radical generated by the reaction of 4-aminopyridine 1-oxide with amyl nitrite reacted smoothly with aromatic hydrocarbons, including five-membered heterocycles, i.e. thiophene, furan and pyrrole, to give the arylated products when acetic acid was used as the solvent. The relative rates of reaction with the 1-oxido-4-pyridyl radical indicated that this radical is electrophilic, and this finding was supported by a comparison of molecular orbital energy levels. 2-Aminopyridine 1-oxide also undergoes a similar reaction.

Synthesis of a 1α, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D2 analog (3), in which the double bond in the side-chain in replaced by an amide group, is described. Condensation of a carboxylic acid (8) with an amine (6) gave an amide (9), which in turn led to 3 via several steps. The analog (3) could not bind to the chick cytosol vitamin D receptor, which indicated the importance of the hydrophobic interaction of the C(22)-C(23) double bond in 1α, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D2 (2) with the vitamin D receptor.

A new synthesis of 24-fluoro-1α, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D2 (4a) and its 24-epimer (4b) is described. Starting with 1α, 3β-bis[(tert-butyldimethylsilyl)oxy]-24-norchol-5, 7-dien-23-al (5), a mixture of 4a and 4b was obtained in 3% overall yield in 6 steps. Reversed-phase HPLC cleanly separated the mixture into the two C-24 epimers. The X-ray crystallographic analysis of the 4-phenyl-1, 2, 4-triazoline-3, 5-dione (PTAD) adduct 11b, which was derived from the ester 6, unambiguously determined the configuration at C-24 of this compound. Based on the X-ray analysis, the configuration at C-24 of 4a and 4b was unequivocally determined.

An alternative synthesis of the title compound 2, a highly potent analog of 1α, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1), is described. Starting with 1α, 3β-bis[(tert-butyldimethylsilyl)oxy]androst-5-ene (8), 2 was obtained in 3.8% total yield through 10 steps. This method provides compound 2 in much higher yield than that reported previously.

Today, it is important to expand the use of untapped energies for tackling the climate change issues. The energy in the shallow ground is one of the most promising untapped energy sources. However, a geothermal heat pump (GHP) system is not well utilized in Japan, especially in the warm areas. In order to investigate the possibility to introduce the GHP systems in the warm areas of Japan, a comprehensive research was carried out choosing the Kumamoto Area, Kyushu, Japan, as the target area. In this study, a suitability map of GHP systems was developed applying a single ground heat exchanger model at several locations of the plain. The suitability map showed that the center of Kumamoto City, Suizenji, and Kikuyo Town were the good candidates of high performance of GHP systems. Moreover, the amount of CO2 reduction with the application of GHP systems was evaluated on the basis of the performance of the system predicted by the numerical model. From this result, the effect of about 80,000-ton CO2 reduction in a year was shown by introduction of GHP systems in Kumamoto area.

Hace mas de cuarenta anos, en la decada de los anos sesenta, la economia japonesa estaba creciendo sin cesar, y el Japon se desarrollaba rapidamente. Sobre todo, en la primera mitad de esta decada, todo el pueblo estaba muy animado preparandose para celebrar los Juegos Olimpicos de Tokio. Se construyeron edificios altos, estadios olimpicos, autopistas y por una nueva linea de ferrocarriles empezo a correr el tren bala. Asi el Japon se estaba convirtiendo en un pais muy moderno cuando llegaron aqui dos hombres destacados del mundo hispanohablante. Uno era Jose Maria Gironella (1917-2003), novelista espanol, y el otro era Atahualpa Yupanqui (1908-1992), el maximo folklorista de Argentina. Jose Maria Gironella vino al Japon en abril de 1963 y permanecio siete semanas en Japon viajando a muchos lugares come Kioto, Hiroshima y Nagasaki. Atahualpa Yupanqui vino al Japon por primera vez en enero de 1964 para dar conciertos en Japon durante varios meses, y volvio al Japon en 1966 y 1967. Ambos observaron minuciosamente a la gente y los paisajes del Japon, y dejaron escritas muchas paginas sobre las impresiones del pais asiatico. Jose Maria Gironella publico en 1964 su libro de viaje El Japon y su duende que tenia mas de 300 paginas y describio las caracteristicas de los japoneses de aquella epoca, sobre la pasion por el estudio, la emancipacion de las mujeres japonesas, la sonrisa japonesa, la religion y la ceremonia, etc. Al principio a Gironella no le gustaban nada los aspectos caoticos de la gigantesca ciudad de Tokio, pero despues se dio cuenta de la belleza escondida del Japon, y empezo a sentir simpatia por la manera de vivir de los japoneses, y al pasar por Dinamarca antes de volver a Espana concluyo que "Dinamarca era un pensamiento, el Japon era una emotion". A pesar de que hay algunos capitulos interesantes y anecdotas conmovedoras, este libro carece de interes y de originalidad para los lectores japoneses, quizas porque Gironella copio demasiado las opiniones de otras personas que tenian conocimientos profundos sobre Espaiia y Japon. La parte mas atractiva de este libro es la description de un estudiante japones que Gironella conocio en Tokio. Gironella observo con atencion a este adolescente lleno de problemas y lo describio como si fuera un personaje de una ficcion. Parece que Gironella dramatize algunas escenas reales. En contraste con Gironella, Yupanqui siempre trato de observar el Japon con sus propios ojos. Yupanqui no vino al Japon para hacer turismo sino para dar numerosos conciertos en casi todo el Japon desde Hokkaido hasta Kyushu. No tenia muchos amigos en Japon como Gironella y despues del trabajo se encontraba solo. Sentia mucha nostalgia hacia su tierra, y siempre se acordaba de su familia que estaba en Argentina, su esposa y su unico hijo. Como si fuera un diario de viaje, desde todas las ciudades escribla a su familia, y confesaba lo que sentia y pensaba a su esposa Nenette. Despues de la muerte de Yupanqui se publicaron estas cartas dirigidas a su senora recopiladas en un libro titulado Cartas a Nenette. Alli podemos leer solo el sentimiento verdadero de Atahualpa Yupanqui. A diferencia de Gironella, Yupanqui no describio el Japon copiando la opinion de los demas. Siempre tomaba una postura natural y observaba el Japon sin ningun prejuicio. Amaba, sobre todo, los paisajes del norte del Japon y encontraba cierta semejanza entre Argentina y Japon, por ejemplo, el campo, las sendas, las montanas nevadas y el ambiente de los pueblos pequenos rodeados de la naturaleza. Yupanqui observo los paisajes japoneses con los ojos de un poeta. "No olvidare nunca este pais, aunque jamas se to conocera del todo". Asi escribio a su esposa desde el Japan en 1964. ?Ahora, en que lugar del Japon se conservaran todavia los mismos paisajes hermosos que contemplo Atahualpa Yupanqui hace mas de cuarenta anos?

本研究の目的は、模擬患者(Simulated or Standardized Patient: 以下SP)養成において、SP が熟達する過程ごとの特徴を明らかにすることである。 対象は、2002 年から2012 年までSP 養成者が作成したSP トレーニング時、SP 参加型授業時のSP の発言・行動記録、SP 養成者の感想および介入の記録である。SP 養成過程は、ドレイファス・モデルを参考に、初心者、新人、一人前、中堅、達人のレベルとし、得られたデータを各レベルに分類し、特徴をカテゴリー化した。 その結果、一般市民であったSP が熟達する過程の特徴として、以下のカテゴリーが抽出された。初心者レベルでは<SP として不確実な自分>を感じ、新人レベルでは<SP として不安な自分>を感じる。さらに一人前レベルでは<SP として自覚が芽生える自分>を認識し、中堅レベルでは<SP として成長を感じる自分>を実感する。そして、達人レベルに到達すると<SPを極める自分>の存在を認識する。

日本沿岸海域に分布する軟体動物の現生種(トリガイ, タマキガイ, ダンベイキサゴ, キサゴ)およびそれらの祖先種4系統のペアについて比較した結果,子孫である現生種の化石記録は,(1)更新世ジェラシアンからカラブリアンにかけての寒冷化期に,(2)分布域北縁付近に現れる;(3)子孫種は温帯性であるのに対して,祖先種は亜熱帯性であり,(4)祖先種に比べて大型である;(5)子孫種は祖先種に比べて沿岸寄りに分布する,という傾向が明らかとなった。これらは,現在,日本列島南岸に分布する貝類の一部がこの気候寒冷化期に分布域北縁付近の沿岸域で種分化したことを示唆する。

地殻変動により地殻から放射される電磁波は地殻変動から発生する地震などの前兆として観測されることがしられている.筆者らは検出法として信号処理による方法を提案しており、更に性能改善の方法について検討した.本稿ではこの地殻放射電磁波に対する前兆を検出するための手法について提案を行なった.観測信号は通常、熱帯地方での大気放電等のため背景雑音を伴っている.全国40箇所以上の観測地点からの得られる地震による電磁波放射データから地殻異常電磁波として検出する.将来の予知システム構築にも有効な聴覚的ディスプレイについても述べる.
