There were two psychologists, Karl Buhler and Alfred Adler, who had taught Popper. Popper rarely confessed his intellectual debt, but he exceptionally said that he owed to Karl Buhler. On the other hand, Popper condemned Adler's Individual Psychology as a pseudo-science. However, as we read Adler, we are surprised to find that Popper was greatly influenced by Adler in various points such as the logic of social situation, optimism, the regulative idea of the absolute truth, the view of science as modified commonsense and so on. Popper accepted Buhler’s psychology of learning. Viewing from these contexts, it seems to us that Popper’s thought was not original at all. However Popper changed the psychology of learning into the logic of scientific learning and proposed falsificationist methodology of science. His originality is found in this point.

2011年4月から2012年1月にかけて奈良公園で死亡した18頭のニホンジカ(Cervus nippon)の死体から頭部の皮を剥ぎ取り,表皮よりマダニ類を捕獲した.マダニ科Ixodidae に属する2属4種(フタトゲチマダニHaemaphysalis longicornis,キチマダニH. flava,オオトゲチマダニH. megaspinosa,タカサゴキララマダニAmblyomma tetsudina)を同定した.ニホンジカ頭部に付着していたマダニの棲息密度は,奈良公園の平坦部で採取されたニホンジカよりも山麓部で採取されたニホンジカで高かった.これはニホンジカが棲息していた植生がニホンジカ頭部に棲息するマダニ類棲息密度の違いをもたらしていたことを示唆した.

This paper focuses on the National Cinema Screenplay Prize, and discusses a screenplay contest that was held in wartime Japan. From 1914 to 1944, the National Cinema Screenplay Contest, sponsored by Department of the Interior and the Japan Film Society, was held with the intention of generating national cinema. The Japanese government tried to collect screenplays written by the people suitable for this new genre. At the 1st contest, people with various backgrounds (in terms of class, gender, employment, and residence) submitted 209 works. Kurosawa Akira's work received the Johokyoku-Sho (second place) and Shindo Kaneto's work earned honorable mention. Most studies mentioning this contest focus only on Kurosawa and Shindo from the viewpoint of their career during wartime; they ignore Koito Nobu and her work Hahakogusa (Jersey Cudweed), even though that was the only work adopted to film by Tasaka Tomotaka after the contest. In this paper, I will focus on Koito Nobu and Hahakogusa in order to examine the complexity of contests held in wartime Japan. The National Cinema Screenplay Prize was based on the national film policy, designed to generate national cinema. Hahakogusa, on the other hand, was a melodrama that depicted the relationship between a mother and her step children, which does not seem to fit the typical image of national cinema at the contest. Considering her career, her favorite novels, and her previous works, it is likely that Koito simply wrote a story that she wanted to write rather than what organizers. This contest was a part of the wartime mobilization efforts by the government, and therefore, Hahakogusa and Koito were used to fit that purpose. The movie Hahakogusa was highly praised as an example of national cinema, and Koito was treated as a female icon that contributed to wartime society.

This paper reconstructs the vigesimal system and the numerals based on that system in Post-Proto-Ainu by comparing three dialects of Ainu: the Hokkaido dialect, the Sakhalin dialect, and the Kuril dialect. In the Ainu vigesimal system, multiples of 20 are indicated by hot, the word for “20,” whose proto form is reconstructed as *gOt. This paper analyzes the structures of the numerals between adjacent multiples of 20, such as the numerals from 21 to 39, from 41 to 59, and from 61 to 79. In the vigesimal system, each interval comprises 19 units. This paper proposes that the former nine units and the latter ten units show different structures. The units in the interval (e.g., 21 to 39) can either be expressed by the lower multiple of 20 (i.e., 20) or the higher multiple of 20 (i.e., 40). Expressing the units by using the lower multiple of 20 is called undercounting (or additive counting); expressing the units by using the higher multiple of 20 is called overcounting. This paper claims that the former 9 units (e.g., 21 to 29) use undercounting, whereas the latter 10 units (e.g., 30 to 39) use overcounting. The undercounted numeral 21 is expressed as “1 more than 20.” The overcounted numeral 30 is expressed as “10 goes toward 40,” and 31 as “11 goes toward 40.” In previous studies, the latter ten units have been explained by different counting methods. The odd multiples of ten (e.g., 30, 50, and 70) have been explained by subtraction (i.e., 40−10, 60−10, and 80−10, respectively). The following numerals (e.g., 31, 51, and 71) have been explained by a further addition of digits (i.e., 40−10+1, 60−10+1, and 80−10+1, respectively). This paper treats these ten units in a uniform manner by proposing an overcounting numeral system for them.

以下の小論においては、主に18 世紀後半から19 世紀前半にかけてのイギリス社会における社会統制のある断面を考察の対象とする。この時期、イギリスは社会や産業の近代化を達成することになるが、そのプロセスの中で労働の様態も根本的に変化し大規模化・規律化されていく。その結果、労働と余暇は時間的にも空間的にも分節化され、労働者にも余暇時間が拡大していく。一方でまたこの時代には、社会的にも文化的にも影響力を強め始めた中流市民層によって、祝祭性を伴うことも多かった民衆娯楽や伝統行事のいくつかが「野蛮」「非文明的」であるとして抑圧され、それに替わって「合理的な」レクリエーションが盛んに推奨されるようになる。大衆の余暇時間の過ごし方に対するこうした抑圧や誘導は、人道主義的な慈善に由来するように見えながら、暴動を起こすなどして社会秩序を乱しかねない労働者を馴致しようという意図に基づいた社会統制であったと考えられる。 This paper discusses how a form of social control was exercised in England in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In the process of social and industrial modernization, the mode of work was also fundamentally transformed in the way work was more and more concentrated and disciplined. As a result, work and leisure were segmented both in temporal and spatial terms and leisure was extended to workers. In this period, meanwhile, some popular entertainments and traditional events which had often unleashed festivity were suppressed as "savage" and "uncivilized" and instead "rational" recreation was strongly recommended by the bourgeois middle class gaining more social and cultural influence. This regulation and induction of how spare time should be used seems, as alleged, to derive from humanitarian compassion but in fact can be regarded as a form of social control based on the intention to domesticate the working class who were feared to disturb the social order by uprisings.
