The present study is undertaken to investigate how mothers felt when they heard the cries of their babies (within one week and one month after birth) and what actions they took.The subjects of this study were 16 women who delivered normal neonates at a private clinic in Ishikawa Prefecture. How these mothers dealt with the cries of their babies was investigated by means of an interview, which was carried out in a semi-controlled method. The interviews were recorded on tape with each mother's consent. The interviews were performed twice (within one week and one month after birth). Qualitative analysis of the mothers' responses to their babies' cries yielded the following results.The responses of mothers to their babies' cries within one week after birth were found to contain the following six elements: emotional responses, cognitive responses, intellectual interpretation of the cries, concrete countermeasures, intuitive understanding of the cries, and evaluation of the baby's character and temperament.These emotional responses were affected by the mother's stability, the mother's awareness of her role as a mother, the babies' temperament reflected in their cries, and the time since the previous lactation.Mothers attempted to interpret the meaning of their babies' cries. This attempt involves two elements (time and features of the cry).This study revealed what mothers felt when hearing their baby's cries and what action they took to deal with their baby's cries at two points after delivery (within one week and one month after delivery). The findings of this study may be useful to nurses when supporting mothers in the care of babies within one week and one month after birth. 本研究の目的は, 出生後早期および生後1か月時点において, 児の泣き声を聞いたとき, 母親がどのように感じ, どのように考えて行動しているかという "児の泣き声に対する母親の反応" を明らかにすることである.石川県内の出産施設で出生した正常な新生児をもつ母親16名を調査対象とし, 児の泣き声に対する母親の受け止め方について, 半構成的に面接を行い質的に分析した.その結果, 新生児の泣き声に対する母親の反応には, 以下の6つのカテゴリーがあげられた.そのカテゴリーとは,【感情・情動反応】,【認知的反応】,【泣きの解釈】,【児の要求を満たすための行動】,【児の泣きに対する思い】,【児の性格・気質の感じ取り】であった.このうち,【感情・情動反応】には, 児の泣き声を聞いたときの『母親の気持ちの安定性』,『母親役割意識』,『泣きの特徴からみた児の気質』,『前回の授乳時間からの時間経過』が関与していた.また【泣きの解釈】には『時間経過』と『泣きの特徴』が関与していた.本研究の結果より, 出生後1か月ごろまでの児をもつ母親の心理的な状況と母親を支援する方向示唆された.

本研究は、近代日本における禁酒運動と教育・メディアとの関係性を解明する。その解明に、日本禁酒同盟資料館の旧蔵史料を活用する。主な内容は次の通りである。①日本国民禁酒同盟(1920年結成)、姉妹団体の日本学生排酒聯盟(1922年結成)の活動に着目し、これらが学生や児童を禁酒運動に取り込みながら運動を展開したかを解明する。②同盟や聯盟が刊行したメディア、『禁酒新聞』、『のぞみの友』、『無酒国』などの編集方針と編集組織、執筆陣の分析を通し、メディアの禁酒教育への影響、各学校の運動家間のネットワークの解明を行う。③未成年者飲酒禁止法の運用、外地への拡張や改正をめぐる論議を、①、②を踏まえ解明する。

To induce artificial mouth breathing on experimental animals has extremely been difficult because of its immediate death following nasal sealing treatment, and we could find only an imitating experiment reported by Butcher et al (J. Periodont. 32: 38, 1961). The purpose of this study is to induce absolute mouth breathing in rats and to investigate histopathological changes of their gingival tissues. Thirty six of Wister strain rats were equally divided into control and experimental groups. To induce absolute mouth breathing artificially, the nose of all experimental animals were sutured using thin wire and metallic buttones. After two weeks of experimental period, animals were sacrificed and materials were obtained.Consequently, we could find much more remarkable hyperkeratinization of epithelial layers in the experimental animals than the control. Inf lammatoric changes, however, were found in both groups of animals, but less in control. As the conclusion of this investigation, absolute mouth breathing may induce hyperkeratinization of the epithelial tissues, but does not initiate gingival inflammation following two weeks of experiment.

本稿は、1970年代終わりから今日までの国際政治理論の系譜を探ることを目的とした。本稿で、主として取り上げた国際政治理論は、ケネス・ウォルツのネオリアリズム、ロバート・コヘインの国際制度論、アレクサンダー・ウェントのコンストラクティヴィズムである。これらの国際政治理論について、存在論と認識論という視点から新たな分析を試み、その上で、アナーキーと国家のインタレストのとらえ方について言及した。

The 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) is a fast, non-invasive, powerful tool to diagnose or to evaluate the risk of various cardiac diseases. The vast majority of arrhythmias are diagnosed solely on 12-lead ECG. Initial detection of myocardial ischemia such as myocardial infarction (MI), acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and effort angina is also dependent upon 12-lead ECG. ECG reflects the electrophysiological state of the heart through body mass, and thus contains important information on the electricity-dependent function of the human heart. Indeed, 12-lead ECG data are complex. Therefore, the clinical interpretation of 12-lead ECG requires intense training, but still is prone to interobserver variability. Even with rich clinically relevant data, non-trained physicians cannot efficiently use this powerful tool. Furthermore, recent studies have shown that 12-lead ECG may contain information that is not recognized even by well-trained experts but which can be extracted by computer. Artificial intelligence (AI) based on neural networks (NN) has emerged as a strong tool to extract valuable information from ECG for clinical decision making. This article reviews the current status of the application of NN-based AI to the interpretation of 12-lead ECG and also discusses the current problems and future directions.

北海道において,植栽されたナルコユリ(アマドコロ属)の根茎から発生した子嚢果について形態学的な検討を行った結果,Stromatinia rapulumと同定した.本種はヨーロッパではアマドコロ属を宿主とするが,日本では従来ツルドクダミが宿主とされ,日本産標本の菌と宿主の種同定には疑問の余地があった.本報告は,S. rapulumの日本で初めての確かな採集記録であり,新たにナルコユリチャワンタケという和名を提唱した.
