This study aimed to investigate whether valproic acid (VPA) pretreatment enhances the therapeutic effectiveness of mesenchymal stem cells derived from bone marrow (BMSCs) transplanted into rats with an acute spinal cord injury (SCI). BMSCs were pretreated with VPA before transplantation and then intravenously injected 1 week after SCI. Before transplantation, levels of CXC chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) expression in BMSCs were tested using quantitative real-time PCR and Western blotting. Stromal derived factor-1 (SDF-1), the unique ligand of CXCR4, was quantified using RT-PCR and immunofluorescence. The locomotor function of rats with an SCI was evaluated using the Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan (BBB) locomotor rating scale. Fluorescence microscopy and hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining were also performed to evaluate pathophysiological changes after transplantation. On day 7 after SCI, the level of SDF-1 expression peaked. CXCR4 expression increased significantly in BMSCs pretreated with VPA. After intravenous transplantation, BrdU-labeled BMSCs were noted at the spinal injury site, and this was especially true for BMSCs pretreated with VPA. More significant functional improvement was observed in rats receiving BMSCs pretreated with VPA than in other groups of rats. AMD3100 partially inhibited improvement. This study demonstrates that pretreatment with VPA before transplantation enhances the therapeutic benefits of BMSCs in terms of greater cell migration and better neurological outcomes after traumatic SCI. The mechanism of this enhancement may be related to the SDF-1/CXCR4 axis. Therefore, pretreatment of BMSCs with VPA warrants further study in relation to the treatment of traumatic SCI.

文部科学省スーパーサイエンスハイスクール研究開発において,科目「科学技術」を開発した。本科目は,理科と工業科とを連携させ,工業科の教員と理科の教員等によるティームティーチング体制をとり,理論と実験実習とを結びつけた科目である。特に,機械科2年生には教科・工業における科目「原動機」をベースとした「科学技術(機械)」を実践した。そこでは年度の前半では,流体力学や流体機械といった流体分野に関する理論と実験・ものつくりを通した体験的な学習を行い,後半においては流体分野に関する探究活動を行った。

本稿では,音楽音響信号に含まれる歌声の基本周波数 (F0) 軌跡に対して歌唱表現 (ビブラート・グリッサンド・こぶし) を転写することを可能とするシステムを提案する.能動的音楽鑑賞インタフェースは,エンドユーザのインタラクティブな音楽鑑賞を実現することを目的とした研究アプローチである.これには既存楽曲の加工支援も含まれ,歌声に関連するものでは,声質変換や歌声分離などの研究がなされている.本研究では,歌唱の歌い回しの加工を扱い,特に混合音中の歌声の F0 軌跡を任意に編集するインタフェースを実現する.ユーザは,歌声の任意の箇所を指定し,好みの歌唱表現を転写することで,歌い回しを自由に加工することができる.また,事前に市販楽曲からプロ歌手の歌唱表現を蓄積したデータベースを作成し,ユーザはそのデータベースから歌唱表現を参照することで直感的に転写を行うことが可能となる.歌唱表現の転写は,対数周波数軸において選択的に歌声のスペクトルのみをシフトさせ,伴奏音への影響を抑圧しながら歌声の音高を操作することで行われる.このとき,音韻性を保持するためスペクトル包絡を用いて音色の補正を行う.実際にユーザが表現の転写箇所を指定したり,F0 の存在範囲を提示するため,Graphical User Interface (GUI) の作成を行っている.実験では,音色補正の有効性やユーザ入力を用いた F0 推定の頑健性などを確認した.

What I try to indicate in this paper is that what Paul Valery called 'pure poetry' concerns the 'physiological' sensation of the body that cannot be conveyed by prose. Curiously Valery found the ideal type of art experience in the physiological phenomena due to the nature of retina-that is to say perception of complementary colors. Complementary colors produced by the eye as antidote against colors that stimulate itself are certainly subjective impressions and imply fear of disturbing objective recognitions. However, Valery regards this pure sensation which is set free from external objects to refer, as a perception of our own body whose functions are normally imperceptible to us. We directly find out about our body only when it doesn't function properly. By using means such as rhythm, rhyme, inversion and surprise, poetry captures and restrains the reader's body and interferes its smooth and automatic that is to say prosaic activity. This is the point where pure poetry and the physiology intersect. Both, guiding our attention to physical disorder, help us to gain the representation of our body, which, according to Valery's idea, is a system consisting of various functions.

Les Grottes de l'Altamira ont ete decouvertes par Henri Breuil en 1902. Les reproductions des gravures et des peintures presentees a l'academie lui ont permis de montrer aux prehistoriens comment it est possible de faire une analyse interne des representations figuratives pour en degager le fondement plastique : la decouverte des peintures parietales auraient du etre le resultat d'une recherche methodique a l'aide d'instruments de mesure. Mais sa vue sera brouillee par l'obscurite de la grotte dans la pratique, car l'eclairage insuffisant dans la grotte (la lampe ou la bougie) transforme les formes et les couleurs des reliefs et peintures parietales suivant les textures rocheuses ou les mouvements des lumieres. Breuil les a donc decalquees directement au contact des parois. Il s'ensuit de la qu'il experimente une comprehension intuitive, fondee sur la sympathie, de leurs intentions esthetiques et religieuses. Cette these essaie de reconsiderer les gestes d'Henri Breuil comme imitation qui s'accordent avec ceux d'un createur, c'est-a-dire comme mimesis au sens de ressemblance corporelle en meme temps qu'elle produit la representation <<authentique>> et, pour cela, d'expliciter son entreprise de releve des oeuvres paleolithiques bien plus qu'une simple technique de reproduction.

「近代化」とは歴史的な概念であるとともに、特定の社会、とりわけ非欧米社会のアイデンティティを問う概念でもある。しかし、それを一次元的尺度とみなすことは危険である。「近代化」には、経済発展や産業化には還元できない要素があるからである。そうした「近代化」の多様性をとらえようとする流れのなかで、近年、「近代化」と視覚などの身体感覚や表象との関連を取り上げる論考が見られるようになった。そこで、本論文では、視覚や表象の近代化に関する議論を踏まえながら、従来からの近代化論のいくつかのタイプ-合理化モデル、主体化=従属化モデル、メディア・モデル-についても身体論的観点から見直し、相互の関連性を明らかにするよう試みた。

Yokoi Shonan (1809-1869), a Confucian scholar and samurai active in the late Tokugawa period, undertook an intensive study of Chu Hsi's Neoconfucianism in his early thirties and formulated the idea of "Sandai"(the Three Dynasties, i.e., the Hsia, the Yin and the Chou in ancient China) as the standard for good government. In the first half of his forties, he recognized through his experiences the great influence of a monarch's spirit on the politics of Japan, for example, the conflicts among the samurai factions in Higo (Kumamoto) domain, and through the historical study of Godaigo Tenno (emperor) and his misrule in the medieval period. He then began to advocate the spirit and behavior of Yao and Shun, the mythical emperors before the Three Dynasties, as an ideal image of a sage monarch. The lives of Yao and Shun are recorded in the chapters of "Nitensanbo," i.e., the "Canon of Yao," the "Canon of Shun," the "Counsels of the Great Yu," the "Counsels of Kaou-Yaou," and "Yih and Tseih," compiled in the Shokyo (Book of Documents). This paper attempts to examine why he emphasized the importance of the "Nitensanbo" chapters as the source of his political thought. Then I considered the characteristics of these chapters. From my examination, I point out that the chapters held universal and democratic principles, for example, open and friendly discussions between a monarch and his vassals, the selection of a monarch based on his virtue and faculty as a leader, and promotion and encouragement of industry for the welfare of the common people. These principles met the necessity for immediate acceptance of European civilization in the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate. Therefore he attached great importance to the chapters of the "Nitensanbo" and emphasized their significance as the source and standard in his political thinking.

After the "Death of Painting," the role of vision in the experience of art has changed entirely. The privilege of visuality in modernism has been superseded by a minimalist visuality, which contains in itself the relation between the beholder and the work. In this light, Nietzsche's concept of Vision (the German word meaning "vision" or "hallucination") assumes a different aspect. In The Birth of Tragedy, Apollonian art is attributed to the dream in which we look away from sufferings in real life, and become absorbed in contemplation of an imaginary world. In tragedy, however, the Apollonian operation is called Vision in distinction from the dream. The intoxicated spectator transfigures actors on the stage into gods and acquires an insight into the Dionysian origin of the world. In his later work Twilight of the Idols, in which Vision as an intoxication of the eye replaces the dream, Apollonian art as well as music arouses intoxication. A transfiguration results from this, with the eyes open. Therefore, Vision is a sort of visuality that exists as a physical relation between the beholder and the work. This concept of Vision provides a new perspective on both Nietzsche's theory of art and contemporary art.
