19 世紀に入って、リバプールは造船・港湾都市として急成長し、世紀中頃には、ロンドンに次ぐ国際貿易の拠点として栄えた。その繁栄の半面、アイルランドの大飢饉を逃れた難民が流れこんできた。彼らは地下室や袋小路の共同住宅に住み、劣悪な環境の中で悲惨な生活を送った。政治家であり資産家でもあったウィリアム・ラスボーンは貧民の救済に尽力した。彼は看護を専門職とする看護師を育成し、貧民家庭の病人を訪問させることを考えた。そのためのアドバイスをナイチンゲールに仰ぎ、指示に従って王立リバプール病院に看護師養成学校と看護師宿舎を創設した。さらに、彼は救貧院施療病院看護体制の改革にのりだし、ナイチンゲールの助力を得て、聖トマス病院ナイチンゲール学校の優秀な卒業生アグネス・ジョーンズを看護師長に迎えることができた。ナイチンゲールの最愛の教え子アグネスは貧民の看護に献身的に尽くし、人道の模範を示した。ナイチンゲール、ラスボーン、アグネスこの3 人を結び合わせたものは友愛と平等であり、貧民救済への熱意であった。その力は堕落した病院の看護体制を刷新したばかりでなく、貧困と退廃に満ちた社会に希望をもたらしたのである。看護が社会を向上させることのできた稀に見る例であった。

    本稿では、社会的養護施設をめぐる2つの論争―ホスピタリズム論争、津崎哲夫vs 施設養護支持派論争―を分析し、「家庭」を支配的なロジックたらしめる言説構造について考察する。分析からは、かつてはあった「家庭」への批判的視角が徐々に失われ、反施設論者だけでなく、施設養護支持派も「家庭」をケアの場の支配的モデルと前提するようになったことが明らかになった。こうしたなか、個別性や一貫性の保障という小規模ケアのメリットを「家庭的」な形態に結び付ける言説構造が維持、強化されてきたと考えられる。以上を踏まえ、考察部では、「家庭」を理想的なケア環境として措定する言説構造が持つ問題と、今後の脱家族化論の課題について議論を行う。

本論文では,カラー画像を用いて複雑な背景から個数,位置,サイズ,姿勢が未知である顔を実時間で抽出するアルゴリズムを提案する.本手法では,まず同じ人種の人々の肌の色の分布が正規分布であると仮定して,肌色を抽出する関数をモデリングする.次に,この関数を用いて抽出した肌色を閉領域毎に分割し,各領域に中心と面積の情報を与える.この情報を用いて,肌色領域内に黒目や眉毛に相当する暗い領域が存在するかしないかを判断し,もし存在していればその肌色領域は顔であると判断する.実験から,この方法による処理が高速でロバストであることが示された.This paper describes a practical algorithm that can robustly detect multiple human faces with unknown sizes and positions in complex backgrounds from color images in real time. Skin color is modeled as a normal distribution among different persons within the 58.1118 race. Detected skin pixels are grouped into regions whose centroids and areas are recorded. If dark regions for eyes and eyebrows are also detected within these regions, then they are regarded as faces. Experimental results show that this approach is very fast and robust.

進化論的枠組みで顔の再認記憶について検討したこれまでの研究は,人は協力者として呈示された顔より非協力者として呈示された顔をより再認しやすいことを明らかにした(Mealey,Daood,& Krage,1996; Oda,1997).しかし,顔を憶えているだけではなく,その人物の協力性までも記憶されているかは明らかにされてこなかった.本研究では,まず60人の実験参加者に,未知顔の写真を1回限りの囚人のジレンマ・ゲームにおける (偽の) 選択 (協力/非協力) とともに呈示した.そして1週間後,元の写真に新奇写真を混ぜてランダムに呈示し,その顔を1週間前に見たか否かと,その人物と取引したいか否かを尋ねた.その結果,顔の再認課題では,先行研究とは一貫せず,協力者と非協力者の写真は同じ程度に再認された.一方,協力者に対して非協力者に対してよりも,より「取引したい」と答える傾向があった.興味深いことに,この傾向は憶えられていた顔に対してだけでなく,憶えられていなかった顔に対しても見られた.この結果は,潜在的記憶が協力者と非協力者を見分けるのに寄与していることを示唆している.

春日井工場のT―4マシンは1993年の設置以来,約20年に亘ってティシュペーパー用の原紙を生産して来たが,ヤンキードライヤー(以下YD)胴面の減肉が進み,蒸気内圧に対する強度的な限界が近づいていた。そこで,YDの延命対策として耐摩耗性に優れる溶射被膜をコーティングする工事を実施した。<BR>YDは直径4.2m,幅5.8mの巨大なドラムで,内部に蒸気を充満させて,胴面に巻き付けた湿紙を乾燥させ,乾いた紙をドクターで剥がす際にクレープ(縮みじわ)を付ける機能を持つが,材質が鋳物の為,ドクターとの摩擦により荒れた面を定期的に研磨する必要があった。<BR>そこで,YD表面に硬度が高く耐摩耗性に優れる溶射皮膜をコーティングしたところ,ドクターとの摩擦による摩耗が非常に少なくなり,YD表面が荒れないようになった。これにより,定期研磨が不要となったため,YDの減肉が止まり延命に繋がった。<BR>また,T―4マシンではYD表面の摩耗の進行に伴って表面に露出した鋳造欠陥(鋳巣)がスクラッチ状に成長し,これが原因で紙面に穴が発生する問題があり,定期研磨前には抄速を落として対応していたが,工事後にはYD表面が荒れなくなったので,この問題を解消する事ができた。YD溶射後は,エネルギーコストの増加はあるものの,メンテナンスコスト削減と生産性向上により,全体としてコストダウンとなっている。<BR>近年はメーカー各社の溶射技術の向上により,鋳物YDの現地溶射は安価で高品質な施工が可能となっており,今回の工事の結果からも,減肉した鋳物YDの延命化策として全面溶射が有効な対応策となる事が確認出来た。

In the late Qing, China entered the capitalist world-system and this brought about a structural change in social form. In this context, late Qing intellectuals felt a double imperative: they had to combat imperialist invasion and economic plunder and therefore they had to establish a nation-state, which presupposed capitalist development. However, on the other hand, they saw the various problems associated with capitalism and as they were developing their narratives of identity, they needed to find conceptual resources to counter Eurocentric narratives of history. Consequently, these intellectuals harbored a desire to overcome capitalism. This desire produced various post-capitalist utopias, which we can see in Kang Youwei, Tan Sitong and Zhang Taiyan. These utopias are especially meaningful today, in an age where capitalist domination is heightened, but hope for a post-capitalist future has greatly diminished. “Equality” is a key word with which late Qing intellectuals mapped out the future. Moreover, “equality” expresses precisely the above doubled movement: on the one hand, it constitutes the condition for the nation state, but on the other hand, it is also a concept that late Qing intellectuals used to imagine a different future. Discussions of equality directly dealt with issues of labor, women, and so on. This essay takes as its focus the Journal of Natural Justice, which was organized by the Society for the Restoration of Women’s rights organized by He Zhen, Liu Shipei and others. This journal published for less then one year, but it was one of the main journals promoting socialism and anarchism. It was also the first to directly discuss “labor,” and it proposed an ideal of equality in which “everyone has work and everyone labors.” Throughout the rest of China’s 20th vi century, leftist and Marxist intellectuals continued this emphasis on labor. But capitalism presupposes that everyone is equal as a free-laborer. In this case, what is the relationship between the utopia proposed by the Journal of Natural Justice, which entails a world in which all work, and capitalism? This essay examines this question in hopes of shedding light on a larger trajectory of Chinese history.

冬期の夜温がキンギョソウの開花特性に及ぼす影響を明らかにするために, 摘心栽培および無摘心栽培で検討した.摘心栽培においては, 夜温が高いほど'初春'と'ライトピンクバタフライII'は第1節以下分枝, 'ヴェルン'では第2節分枝の開花が早まった.採花本数は'初春'と'ヴェルン'は夜温16℃で最も多くなり, 'ライトピンクバタフライII'の採花本数には夜温の影響はみられなかった.無摘心栽培の'ライトピンクバタフライII'では, 夜温が高いほど開花が促進された.供試品種に好適な冬期夜温は, '初春'では6&acd;11℃, 'ライトピンクバタフライII'では11℃, 'ヴェルン'では16℃と考えられた.

A peptide fraction with a delicious taste was isolated from the gravy of beef meat. By successive application of gel filtration with Sephadex G-25, chromatography on an ion exchange resin (Dowex 50×4), and paper electrophoresis, the peptide was purified. The amino acid sequence of the purified peptide was determined by Edman degradation for N-terminal and Cpase A method for C-terminal sequence. As a result, the primary structure of the peptide was proposed as follows; H-Lys-Gly-Asp-Glu-Glu-Ser-Leu-Ala-OH.

In this paper, I tried to confirm the usefulness of a "lie-detector" electrical kit as a tool for quantitative analysis of the electrodermal activity (EDA) in the educational situation of elementary level of the experimental psychology. Participants (n=21) were divided into one of three groups (low (L)-, middle (M)-, or high (H)- anxiety group) based on the points of the Anthrophobic Tendency Scale (ATS) by Horii and Ogawa (1998). They were exposed to twelve times of auditory stimuli (1 kHz pure tone, 1s) and the EDA was measured by a modified "lie-detector" electrical kit, "Makoto-kun". Although the skin conductance response (SCR) of H group was higher than the other groups, the difference did not reach significant level. On the other hand, the skin conductance level (SCL) gradually increased in H group but decreased in L group following repeated exposure to the auditory stimuli and the difference between these groups were significant. The SCL in M group was intermediate level throughout the exposure to the stimuli. These findings suggest that SCL linearly correlate with the points of ATS. Our findings are consistent with a previous study (Lader and Wing, 1964) showing that the habituation rate of SCL in the patients of anxiety is slower than normal control. In conclusion, the usefulness of our system as a tool for quantitative analysis of the EDA was partly confirmed
