[Purpose] This study examined the effects of High Intensity Laser Therapy on pain and function of patients with chronic back pain. [Subjects and Methods] This study evenly divided a total of 20 patients with chronic back pain into a conservative physical therapy group that received conservative physical therapy, and a high intensity laser therapy group that received High Intensity Laser Therapy after conservative physical therapy. All patients received the therapy three times a week for four weeks. For the high intensity laser therapy group, treatment was applied to the L1–L5 and S1 regions for 10 minutes by using a high intensity laser device while vertically maintaining the separation distance from handpiece to skin at approximately 1 cm. A visual analog scale was used to measure the pain and Oswestry Disability Index was used for functional evaluation. [Results] In a within-group comparison of the conservative physical therapy and high intensity laser therapy groups, both the visual analog scale and Oswestry Disability Index significantly decreased. In a between-group comparison after treatment, the high intensity laser therapy group showed a significantly lower visual analog scale and Oswestry Disability Index than the conservative physical therapy group. [Conclusion] High Intensity Laser Therapy can be an effective nonsurgical intervention method for reducing pain and helping the performance of daily routines of patients who have chronic back pain.

劇書。正編2巻2冊。刊記は「寛政十二庚申年」、跋文に「とりの初春」とあるので翌13年(1801)発売とみられる。河内屋太助版。奥付には八文字屋八左衛門の墨印があり、売り捌き店の証かとされる。世代交代期を迎えつつある寛政期の大阪歌舞伎を中心に、絵入りの劇界百科全書をめざしたもの。江戸で刊行された同趣の『羽勘三台図絵』(寛政3年[1791]刊、当館請求記号:245-193)『戯作訓蒙図彙』(享和3年[1803]刊、当館請求記号:W99-21)が知られるが、上方の諸習慣や知識を開陳している点で資料的価値が高い。上巻は道頓堀の芝居行事から稽古の様子を描き、下巻では楽屋や舞台裏の光景をみせる。著者の松好斎半兵衛が絵も担当し、当時の生写し流行を背景に、役者は似顔で描かれている。下巻末に人気役者13名を似顔で描き、自筆短冊の模刻が添えられている。(児玉竜一)(2016.2)

The purpose of this paper is to review the study on siblings of disabilities, and investigate siblings'experience and the trend in supports for them. As a result, two important factors are considered, 1) the role as siblings of people with disabilities were changed with the times, from role as caretaker about people with disabilities into role as siblings who have their own concern and to be supported. 2) siblings have unusual concerns and opportunities, however, siblings must care for their problems privately in Japan. To support them, it is required to participate professionals in support program, and to suit the individual problems of siblings.

The identification of hormones and their receptors in multicellular organisms is one of the most exciting research areas and has lead to breakthroughs in understanding how their growth and development are regulated. In particular, peptide hormones offer advantages as cell-to-cell signals in that they can be synthesized rapidly and have the greatest diversity in their structure and function. Peptides often undergo post-translational modifications and proteolytic processing to generate small oligopeptide hormones. In plants, such small post-translationally modified peptides constitute the largest group of peptide hormones. We initially explored this type of peptide hormone using bioassay-guided fractionation and later by in silico gene screening coupled with biochemical peptide detection, which led to the identification of four types of novel peptide hormones in plants. We also identified specific receptors for these peptides and transferases required for their post-translational modification. This review summarizes how we discovered these peptide hormone–receptor pairs and post-translational modification enzymes, and how these molecules function in plant growth, development and environmental adaptation.

九条家領土佐国「幡多郡」は、建長二年(一二五〇)に九条道家が残した惣処分状に唯一郡名で載せられた家領であり、これまで九条家とそこから分かれた一条家の一円領であったとされてきた。しかしながら、この家領の歴史的性格を明らかにするには、遠国土佐のさらに僻遠の地になぜ家領が形成されたのか、またその構造や領有等の基礎的な個々の問題についての議論が必要と考える。本稿は九条道家惣処分状の検討を主に、家領の性格が国衙領であるのか荘園であるのかが客観的に判断できないにも拘わらず、一門の間ではこの家領が鎌倉幕府からの支給地であり、個々の荘園ではなく「郡」として認識され続けたこと、その一方で家領「幡多郡」が郡域としての幡多郡と同一ではないことを確認した。「幡多郡」は幡多・高岡両郡に点在する荘園と国衙領の一部を抱え込んだ曖昧な領域であり、この家領に対する認識も漠然とした、多分に「観念的」なものであった可能性が指摘できよう。

Recent studies indicate that the view of a general weakening of the monsoon circulation in a warmer climate cannot be simply applied in the Asian monsoon regions. To understand the Asian summer monsoon response to global warming, idealized multi-model experiments are analyzed. In the coupled model response to increased CO2, monsoon westerlies in the lower troposphere are shifted poleward and slightly strengthened over land including South Asia and East Asia, while the tropical easterly jet in the upper troposphere are broadly weakened. The different circulation responses between the lower and upper troposphere is associated with vertically opposite changes in the meridional temperature gradient (MTG) between the Eurasian continent and the tropical Indian Ocean, with a strengthening (weakening) in the lower (upper) troposphere. Atmospheric model experiments to separate the effects of CO2 radiative forcing and sea surface temperature warming reveal that the strengthened MTG in the lower troposphere is explained by the CO2 forcing. On a global perspective, CO2-induced enhancement of the land–sea thermal contrast and resultant circulation changes are the most influential in the South Asian monsoon. This study emphasizes an important role of the land warming on the Asian monsoon response to global warming.

Heavy precipitation fell over Tokyo in the afternoon of 26 August 2011, leading to flooding and major disruptions for the population, businesses, and authorities. Over 150 mm of precipitation was observed over the city center on that day, with hourly accumulations reaching values as high as 90 mm in late afternoon. Numerical forecasts of this case were performed with a 250-m grid spacing version of the Global Environmental Multi-scale (GEM) model in the context of the Tokyo Metropolitan Area Convection Study (TOMACS). Although initialized only from a global 25-km upper-air analysis, results indicate that GEM is able to produce the intense precipitation over Tokyo at about the right location and time. A sensitivity test in which the urban surface scheme is switched off and replaced with tall grass suggests that the urban environment might have had considerable impact on precipitation intensity, but not on its occurrence or its timing. Based on diagnostics from the GEM integrations, the increased intensity of precipitation seems more related to an enhancement of lateral inflow of low-level moist static energy from Tokyo Bay than to augmented surface fluxes of heat and humidity from the city itself. The existence of low-level bands with locally high values of equivalent potential temperature indicates that the additional moist energy is distributed unevenly through the Tokyo area, an aspect of the simulation which is speculated to have directly contributed to the increase in precipitation intensity over the city.

現代の若者は,職場の「いい人間関係」を求め,「人に役立つ仕事をしたい」と願っている.これは人間の本性に基づく正当な要求である.しかし企業の労務管理はその逆の方向に進んでおり,労働者内部の格差拡大,長時間労働,目標管理などによって,若者の思いは水面下に押し込まれて屈折している.これは結果的には日本企業にとって持続的な発展を抑止している.しかし若者労働者は,その困難の中でも自己発達の道を様々な形で模索している.若者は職場の現実を変革する努力を通じて,「いい人間関係」をつくり,「人に役立つ仕事」を目指そうとしている.こうした動きは,先進諸国に共通して現れている現象である.

Si l’on fait le bilan, en 2017 encore, la photographie de paysage reste la mal aimée de l’analyse esthétique. Bien que les monographies, individuelles ou collectives, d’une grande qualité se soient multipliées du côté des ouvrages portant sur les photographes de paysages, les études théoriques sur le genre, elles, restent rares. À moins qu’il ne s’agisse de livres portant sur les techniques photographiques paysagères. Un peu comme si le paysage nécessitait un apprentissage particulier, sans pour autant atteindre à une esthétique singulière digne d’attention. En s’intéressant aux œuvres de Sophie de Roumanie, cet article entend porter un regard critique et théorique sur la question du paysage en photographie, en montrant en quoi ce genre, jusqu’à présent plutôt négligé, n’a rien d’un plat « exercice de style » pour photographe amateur, ni d’un simple succédané de la peinture de paysage qui dominait avant l’apparition de l’appareil photographique. S’il est établi depuis plusieurs décennies maintenant que la photographie représente bien un art en soi, il convient maintenant de regarder le genre paysager au plus près, afin d’en analyser les tenants esthétiques et poétiques.
