This study examined changes in COVID-19 preventive behaviors, including social distancing and hand washing behaviors and related cognitive variables derived from the protection motivation theory and the focus theory of normative conduct. We examined the relationships between preventive behaviors and cognitive variables. We conducted eight panel surveys among Tokyo residents via the internet, each targeting approximately 1,000 people between April-May 2020 and January 2021. The panel survey data indicated that social distancing behaviors decreased immediately after the first state of emergency has been lifted compared to during the emergency period. Moreover, there was no increase in social distancing behaviors during the second emergency period. Hierarchical multiple regression analyses showed that injunctive norms were associated with the social distancing behaviors at all assessment time points. Furthermore, the effect of risk perception was not large. We have discussed the relationship between emergency declarations and behavioral changes.

Liquid water on the surface of the Earth might have frozen entirely at least 3 times during the history of the Earth (650 Ma, 700 Ma, and 2.2 Ga). Assuming such extreme conditions, the snowball Earth hypothesis explains several unusual geological features associated with glacial deposits in the Proterozoic glaciations. Life should, however, have faced serious crises during these glaciations because liquid water is necessary for life. In particular, survival of photosynthetic algae, which are supposed to have appeared before the Neoproterozoic glaciations, might have been difficult if the surface water froze completely. There would have been refugia for life during the global glaciations. Life could have survived if the equatorial ocean was not completely frozen (soft-snowball condition), or equatorial sea ice might have been very thin (on the order of 10 meters). Even if these conditions were not achieved, life could have survived in shallow hot springs around volcanic islands. It would be much more difficult for eumetazoa to survive such severe conditions if they appeared before the Neoproterozoic glaciations as suggested by molecular clock studies. The appearance of eumetazoa after the last global glaciation (Marinoan glaciation), as suggested by the paleontological record, however, avoids this problem.

アルコール性肝硬変症の41才,男性に,突然両下肢の著明な筋力低下と筋痛が出現した. Creatine phosphokinase(CPK)はじめ血清酵素値の高度の上昇と,筋生検にて著明な筋細胞の壊死が認められ,本症例を横紋筋崩壊壊死(rhabdomyolysis)を伴う急性型アルコール性筋症と診断した.アルコール性筋症の臨床病型は,急性型,慢性型および潜在型に分類されており, rhabdomyolysisを伴う急性型は,最も重症で比較的稀とされている.本症例では, CPKの異常高値や独歩可能となるまでに10週以上を要したことより,これまでの報告例に比し, rhabdomyolysisが高度であつた希な症例と考えられた.また今回この症例に阻血試験(ischemicexercise test)を施行し,本症の発生機序に解糖系酵素の活性低下が関与している可能性を推察し,文献的考察を加えた.

We investigated the effect of sulphur spring in bathing and its oral use on fasting blood sugar and alimentary hyperglycemia of 24 healthy adults. Mood sugar were measured by Somogy-Nelson's method and following results were obtained.When the temperature of hot spring water was maintained at 40°C, very few cases revealed the increase of blood sugar immediately after bathing, but on the other hand when it was maintained at 43-44°C, more than half of the cases increased, as the time passes by, however, the blood sugar values in the both groups showed the trend toward decrease and no remarkable differences between were noted.While apparent decrease of blood sugar by drinking tap water was not observed after one hour, by drinking of sulphur spring water 6 cases revealed the decrease, and further after 2 hours in the former no influence was found except only one case, but in the latter 8 cases showed apparently the decrease of blood sugar.No significant differences of blood sugar levels were observed between both groups, one administered glucose dissolved in tap water and the other supplied that dissolved in hot spring water orally.When took a bath after drinking of glucose solution, after 2 hours blood sugar showed same level or decreased, but after 3 hours almost all cases decreased as compared with the value before bathing.Those blood sugar lowering effect was supposed to be due to the action of gas such as sulphureted hydrogen through skin and further in its inhalation and further more due tö the thermal stimulus in bathing.

多群2項モデルにおいて,母比率の間の相違に関しての多重比較検定について論じる.比率の間のすべての差の同時区間推定法が,Hochberg and Tamhane (1987) で述べられている.この手法と同様なシングルステップのTukey-Kramer型検定方式を構築することができる.しかしながら,この検定方式は保守度が未知パラメータに依存し制御することができない.この論文では,逆正弦変換による多重比較検定法を提案し,保守度をサイズの比の関数として制御できることを示す.また対照群との多重比較法に関しては,白石(2009)と田中・垂水(1997)はBonferroniの不等式による手法が述べられている.逆正弦変換により,Bonferroniの不等式による手法よりも検出力の高いDunnnett型多重比較検定法を論じることができる.さらにテューキー・ウェルシュの方法とREGW法を改良する閉検定手順も論じる.

What possibilities can we find in the clinical method of psychoanalysis (dialogic relationship between analysand and analyst) in order to transform routinized sociological practices of social research? This study examines Pierre Bourdieu's theory of practice and Judith Butler's theory of performativity which try to revaluate the performative force of language playing central role in clinical experiences. Although both theory recast the concept of "illocutionary force" in utterance articulated by J. L. Austin, Bourdieu's scheme of habitus/practice turn out to be incomplete with regard to the break of sociology's positivistic assumption because this scheme assume the priviledge of sociologists who can synthesize the "subjective" and the "objective" knowledge on social world. By contrast, Butler provides the concept of agency and performative contradiction focusing on gap between action and its effects. These concepts explain why clinical experiences in analysand-analyst relationship produce curative effects and have great implications for rethinking the role of sociologists.

Rokuro Nagasawa was a student in University of Tokyo under Professor Isao Ijima. He was involved in editing a zoological magazine named “Dobutsugaku Zasshi”, then the official journal of the Zoological Society of Tokyo, but his subsequent life is not well documented. We conducted bibliographic surveys to evaluate Nagasawa’s achievements. He entered the University of Tokyo in 1907 and was in charge of editing “Dobutsugaku Zasshi” from 1911 to 1917. After that, he suddenly disappeared from the Zoological Society of Tokyo and moved to Vancouver, where he worked as an editor-in-chief of Japanese newspapers. He wrote many newspaper articles under the pen name of “Nanbokusei”. Prior to moving to Canada, he also wrote under the pen name of “N.S. Sei”. He returned to Japan before World War II, and worked as a high school teacher in Kyoto. He then moved to Hyogo prefecture and wrote and edited the local history of the area.

本稿は,図書館情報専門職の資格について,国内外の動向を明らかにすることが目的である。かつては,専門職として働くためには資格を所有することが要件となっていたが,今日では学位や資格の質保証の証明が必要となっている。学位・資格に対する質保証制度を検討するために,海外のLIS専門職資格を「教育資格」「職業資格」の2種類に分けて比較する。教育資格の例としてアメリカ,職業資格としての例としてフィリピンを対象とし,LIS専門職の質保証ツールとしての両者の特色を整理した上で,日本の司書資格が,教育資格としても職業資格としても,質保証が十分おこなわれていないことを明らかにする。

長期間放任されたリンゴ園を伐採した結果, 隣接するリンゴ園ではモモシンクイガによる甚大な被害が認められた.伐採の影響は少なくとも50mの範囲に及んだと推定された.放任園を伐採する際, 放任園に生息するモモシンクイガに対して徹底した耕種的防除が必要である.リンゴ用複合交信攪乱剤を利用した殺虫剤削減防除体系を実践するには, 周辺環境について十分な事前調査が必要である.
