The purpose of this article is to grasp people's sitting behavior on streets spaces. Design survey of the spatial apparatus for sitting, observatory survey of the sitting people and interview research for sitting peoples' psychological situation are conducted at the Harajuku area Shibuya-word. Tokyo pref. the conclusions are as follows. 1. Spatial apparatus for sitting on streets spaces are grouped into 18 types using form and function category. 2. Sitting people have preference for choosing the sitting apparatus, which is depending on spatial apparatus type, surroundings atmosphere and purpose of sitting behavior. 3. Peoples who sit on spatial apparatus essentially not for sitting tend to relax and to sit longer than who use spatial apparatus for sitting.

Although many studies have addressed the issue on tactile perceptual space, very few studies have paid attention to individual differences. In this study, we propose a system to visualize individual differences in tactile perceptual space using a map of onomatopoeia. The system visualizes the relationship on the map between onomatopoeic words that can express tactile sensations and basic tactile materials. In addition, it allows users to move onomatopoeic words to locations they feel more appropriate on the map. As a result, the difference in the configuration of the words on the map shows the individual differences of how tactile sensations are categorized. This system can be used for visualizing trends of differences in tactile perception, for example, between young and old people, and between male and female.

The Piano Concerto in A-Minor opus 85 by Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) belongs to the most successful works of this early romantic pianist. Composed in the late 1810s, performed throughout in Europe by Hummel himself, it soon became acknowledged as a masterpiece in this genre, which every young pianist should learn not only as one of their first performing pieces, but also as a guide for composition of their own piano concertos. Given this background it is understandable why the piano concertos of Frederic Chopin (1810-1849), for instance, sound remarkably similar to Hummel's A-Minor Concerto. Post mid-19th century, however, Hummel's opus 85 played an increasingly marginal role in the history of the piano concerto, particularly at public orchestral concerts, where new and symphonic piano concertos began to enjoy popularity. On the other hand, the value of this work as teaching model was never forgotten. At the conservatory in Leipzig, at that time one of the most influential institutions in Europe, it was still in great demand as one of the piano concertos that students should play at their first public performance. Koda Nobu (幸田延), who studied in Vienna from 1890-95, observed the obvious role of Hummel's piece in musical life: piano concerto for debut pianists. And afterwards, as professor of the Tokyo Academy of Music (東京音楽学校), sne introduced it as such. She selected it for the first documented performance of a piano concerto at the institution in 1901, with a second piano as accompaniment. For her first piano concerto performance with a full orchestra (1908) it was again selected. Furthermore it became tradition at the Tokyo academy for her students and their students to play it during (and particularly at the end of) their study. This lasted into the 1920s. It stands to reason that the custom of making students play Hummel's concerto resulted from the efforts of Koda and other European (particular German) guest professors at the academy in this period, who took it upon themselves to import European music culture as a whole. The establishment of this custom was evidence that their attempt succeeded. However, their endeavour and success was overlooked in the following decades, as Hummel's work was gradually perceived as out of date and old-fashioned, even among conservatories in Europe and Tokyo. This signified an end to the historical role of Hummel's Concerto in musical life. Although today's concertgoers do not know this piece, or even the name of Hummel, the performance history of his Concerto in A-Minor reflects the history of piano education. It is a piano concerto for debut performance, which transcended its time and geographical boundaries.

In Vietnam, people must belong to one of the 54 ethnic groups recognized by the state. In the agricultural hilly area in the north, nearly 100,000 people are self-proclaimed Ngai, who speak a kind of Hakka language. Though the state accommodated the new category ‘Ngai’ to pull them apart from China during the Chinese-Vietnamese War in 1979, the cadres in the rural area compelled the Ngai people to register themselves as Hoa, as they regard the people with Chinese-origin as Hoa. According to the Statistics Bureau of Vietnam, only around 1,000 people are recognized as Ngai. In this study, I consider the difficulty faced by one ethnic group to live in country A, which conflicts with country B, to which they originally belong. To this end, I clarify the life histories of the self-proclaiming Ngai. They are publicly regarded as reactionary in nature, but many Ngai cooperated with the Viet Minh and did not leave Vietnam even in 1978-79. As discriminatory policies were implemented without public knowledge, the Ngai faced severe hardships in the 20th century. Recently, however, the young Ngai are pioneering their way to a better life by going to work in China, using the new network that was established during the war.

Based on the descriptive studies of some 3-patterned and 2-patterned accentual systems in Northern Ryukyuan (Amami-Okinawa region), this research report proposes a list of vocabulary classified according to groups of accentual or tonal patterns which are supposed to exist for nouns, verbs, and adjectives in Proto-Ryukyuan. The list contains the vocabulary belonging to A, B, and C categories for nouns, and A and B categories for verbs and adjectives. Labelling these categories as "Keiretsu (categories)" and the vocabulary list as "Keiretsu-betsu goi," the paper argues that the vocabulary list will be useful in future field research on synchronic as well as diachronic studies on accent and phonology of the Ryukyuan linguistic systems.
