大規模集積回路(LSI)は,シリコン単結晶基板(ウエハー)を用いて製造ざれる.これまで,デバイス特性向上の要求に対し,ウエハーの品質は充分なマージンを持ち,大きな問題は起こさなかった.しかし,近年その状況が大きく変化してきている.シリコンウエハーの製造プロセスは,結晶引ぎ上げとウエハー加工に大別されるが,両者に起因したデバイス不良が発生し始めた.そこで,これらの不良をともに改善できるエピタキシャル成長ウエハーが注目されている.ざらに,マルチメディア時代の半導体デバイスを開発する上で,一つのプレークスルーをもたらす薄膜SOIウエハーも本格的に検討され始めた.ここでは,これらデバイス不良の現状を解説し,次にその解決策としてのウエハー仕様の変更と次世代ウエハーの展望について述べる.

Engineering Test Satellite-VII (ETS-VII) is a test satellite to perform in-orbit demonstration of autonomous rendezvous docking (RVD) technology, which will be necessary for advanced space activities in the early 21st century. ETS-VII successfully performed the autonomous RVD by unmanned space vehicle for the first time in the world. For an unmanned space vehicle to perform rendezvous to a manned spacecraft, safe approach is needed. So we paid special attention to designing safe approach trajectory. There are other important points for approach trajectory design, for instance, coordination with guidance and control accuracy, performance of navigation sensors, and operability, etc. In this paper, we introduce the points, and show the result of ETS-VII RVD trajectory design.

ETS–VII is a test satellite to perform in-orbit demonstration of autonomous rendezvous docking (RVD) technology, which will be necessary for advanced space activities in the early 21st century. ETS–VII performed three RVD experiment flights, and verified all technical items. ETS–VII demonstrated first autonomous RVD between unmanned vehicles, and remote piloted rendezvous flight position accuracy at docking was about 1cm, and acceleration was less than 1.5mG (low impact docking). In the second RVD experiment flight, ETS–VII detected attitude anomaly and executed disable abort for safety insurance. We present the results and evaluation of three RVD experiment flights in this paper.

ETS-VII is a test satellite to perform in-orbit demonstration of rendezvous docking (RVD) technology, which will be necessary for advanced space activities in the early 21^st century. ETS-VII successfully performed autonomous RVD in the first experiment flight. But in the second experiment flight, seberal times of Z-thruster misfiring occurred and they prevented for ETS-VII to accomplish docking for three weeks. To verify all technical items, the third experiment flight was replanned on condition that firing Z-thrusters should be minimized. And we modified on-board software to continue approach in case that Z-thrusters misfiring occur. ETS-VII succeeded in the third experiment as the result of these countermeasures. We present replanning of the third experiment flight and its result in this paper.

ブナ林の組成は日本海側と太平洋側で大きく異なり,椎樹バンクは前者においてより発達しやすい。この理由として,日本海側では積雪が野ネズミによる捕食から堅果を保護していると考えた。そこで,春先に消雪速度の異なる母樹の根元付近と根元から離れた場所において,消雪過程と稚樹の分布,および播種試験による堅果の持ち去り程度を観察した。根元周辺の消雪は他の場所よりも1カ月近く早かった。これに応じて,実生は根元周辺で少なく,離れた場所で多かった。野ネズミによる堅果の持ち去りも,根元周辺で多く発生し,残存数は離れた場所と有意な差が認められた。したがって,根元で雅樹が少ないのは,消雪が早いことで春先に堅果捕食が多くなったためと推察された。このことは,積雪は野ネズミの捕食から堅果を保護することで,ブナの更新に有利に働いていることを示唆している。したがって,日本海側でブナの更新が良好なことも,積雪の保護効果が一因ではないかと考えられる。

Previous studies have reported that poor posture can induce various musculoskeletal disorders. Recently, poor posture in children has become a problem. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of sagittal spinal alignment in standing and sitting positions in elementary school students and how spinal alignment changes from standing to sitting position. Moreover, it clarifies how poor posture (hyperkyphosis) in the standing position affects sitting posture. This study was conducted among 83 elementary school students. The Spinal-Mouse® System was used to measure the thoracic kyphosis angle (TKA), upper thoracic angle (UTA), lower thoracic angle (LTA), lumbar lordosis angle (LLA), and sacral anteversion angle (SAA) in the standing and sitting positions. Hyperkyphosis was defined as a thoracic kyphosis angle of >40°. Participants were assigned to two groups: hyperkyphosis and non-hyperkyphosis. Significant differences were noted in all spinal alignment characteristics in both the positions. When spinal alignment was changed from standing to sitting, ΔUTA and ΔLTA correlated with ΔLLA and ΔSAA, respectively. A strong negative correlation was noted between ΔLLA and ΔSAA. In the sitting position, TKA, UTA, and LLA were significantly higher in the hyperkyphosis group than in the non-hyperkyphosis group. ΔUTA was significantly higher in the hyperkyphosis group than in the non-hyperkyphosis group when spinal alignment was changed from standing to sitting. The characteristics of sagittal spinal alignment in the sitting position were significantly different from those in the standing position. The study findings suggest that poor posture (hyperkyphosis) in the standing position affects the sitting posture.

It is required to make risk education popular to improve risk literacy of citizens. Although several kinds of risk education programs have been developed, the effect of the education by those should be evaluated and the method to measure risk literacy was not established. Therefore, measurement scales of the risk literacy have been developed through web-based questionnaire research. As the result, measurement scales have been established consisting of six factors; zero-risk bias, trade-off on risk versus benefit, trade-off on risk versus risk, paradox on risk perception, basic knowledge on risk and risk perception bias. The scales consisted of four questions for each factor express the factors well. The scales are thought to be useful for improving risk education program and risk communication.

本稿の目的は、中小企業経者を対象とした生命保険法人契約(以下「経営者保険」)の需要に関わる決定要因の分析を通じて、中小企業におけるリスク管理やその準備に資する生命保険業界の健全な発展のために示唆を得ることにある。経営者保険の需要は、経済合理的な一貫性を持つ経済準備必要性と、経営者の持つ価値観双方の影響下にある。考察の結果、以下のことが確認された。経済準備必要性は、経営中断リスク対処、退職金対処、予防的対処の3つに分類され、経営者保険の需要に正の影響を与える。価値観については、不確実性の回避と集団主義の影響が確認された。不確実性の回避は、加入者において需要へ負の影響を与え、集団主義は、未加入者において正の影響を与える。本研究から得られた主要な示唆は、価値観やその価値観が表れる顧客企業の経営方針等によるセグメント別コミュニケーション戦略の必要性である。

Nano-dots array whose diameter and interval were approximately 200 nm and 750 nm, respectively, were made parallel to the atomic step edges on sapphire wafers by focused ion beam (FIB) system. Upon annealing a bunched multi-steps structure formed at regularintervals and straight because the steps were pinned at the nano-dots. The step heights andterrace widths were approximately 2.0 nm, 700 nm in off-angle 0.15° and 10.0 nm, 350 nm in off-angle 1.0°, respectively.

The number of lower limb disabled people have lately been increasing because of traffic accidente and aging society. Most of the lower limb disabled people daily live on wheelchairs. Stairs and step are considerable obstacles for the people whose living depends upon wheelchairs. Although stair climbable robots have been developed as robots for extreme tasks, they are of large size, and heavy weight, and too forceful for stairs at home or hospitals. Therefore they are not suitable for welfare purpose at home or hospitals. This study aims at the development of stair clibing wheelchair which offers assistance to the lower limb disabled people. The stair climbing wheelchair has been developed for welfare purpose. The second report described hou to develop stair climbing mechanism of leg and wheel type wheelchair. This report describes how to succeed in automating stair climbing by loading new developed measurement system on the stair climbing wheelchair.

Tics are defined in the DSM-IV manual of the American Psychiatric Association as being sudden, rapid, recurrent, nonrhythmic, stereotyped motor movement or vocalization. We report on the treatment of a patient with tic symptom, a cleft lip on the left side and skeletal anterior cross bite. Clinical record: The patient, a girl with a cleft lip on the left side, was referred to us at the age of 5 months by Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Iwate Medical University School of Medicine, for the purpose of performing preoperative orthodontics.Our plastic surgery department performed the cheiloplasty at the age of 6 months. This was followed, at the age of 6 years, by work on the rhinoplasty and secondary cheiloplasty. From the age of 3 years and 6 months, due to poor upper jaw development and as a result of examination of skeletal anterior cross bite, work was commenced as the maxillary protraction, the upper dental arch expansion, and improvement of the rotated central incisors on the upper jaw.The patient continued to visit the hospital without problems until the age of 7 years and 10 months.At her next half-yearly visit, at the age of 8 years and 4 months, the patient was observed to have symptoms of blinking, facial twitching, coughing, and strange vocalizations. Her mother had considered these symptoms to be nose-related and taken her daughter to an otorhinolaryngologist, but the examination there produced no improvement and she was thinking of going to another hospital. The authors suspected Tourette's syndrome and introduced the patient to a child psychologist. Tourette's syndrome was diagnosed on the basis of the vocal tic and effectiveness of haloperidol. A year later, the multiple tics had continued with changes of place, type and frequency with no apparent regularity of pattern in either transformation or frequency. Minor incidents, increases of anxiety etc. were thought to precipitate change in and expression of the symptoms, but the patient was extremely cooperative with the orthodontic treatment.Discussion: Pediatric patients suspected of having a genetic predisposition towards tics may be liable to develop symptoms in response to triggers experienced in the home or school. In this case, the orthodontic treatment did not become a source of stress and the patient's psychological state was observed to be good. It is supposed that the condition was probably precipitated by a latent feeling of inferiority or stress experienced at school or in the children's home. Close coordination with a medical specialist is essential in the case of tics. It is important for the orthodontist to provide not only occlusion-related treatment but also psychological support.

本研究の目的は,幼児から中学生の子どもを対象にライフスタイル改善教育及び体力向上プログラムを幼児・学教教育に適用し,同一集団の子どもをそれぞれ縦断的に追跡しながら,その有効性を検証することであった.おもな成果は次の3点であった.1)体力向上プログラムに参加した幼児の体力は,小学校1年で極めて高く,体力A評価は50%を超え,持ち越し効果が確認された.2) 低学年児童を対象に基本的動作習得を目指した8時間の授業で,動作の改善と共に,50m走後半の疾走スピードに有意な改善が見られた.3) 中学校での3年間継続した体力向上への取り組みによって,生徒の遅刻回数や不定愁訴が有意に減少した.
