Objectives: Many aging workers wish to continue working as long as they can for a better life in the future. However, symptoms of pain are a key obstacle in the continuation of work among older workers. The impact of pain on work is understudied. Thus, we investigated the relationship between pain characteristics (total site and severity) and aging workers' working life expectancy scale (WoLES) in Korea. Methods: We included 1,979 participants (1,175 men and 804 women) from a well-established survey of a nationally representative population: the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing. A self-questionnaire was used to assess pain characteristics and WoLES. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the lower-WoLES group were calculated using multiple logistic regression models. Results: Compared with the absence of pain, ORs and 95% CIs of the lower-WoLES group were increased, as follows: 1 pain site, 1.75 (1.20-2.55); 2 pain sites, 1.99 (1.32-3.03); 3 or more pain sites, 2.28 (1.51-3.42); mild pain, 1.74 (1.32-2.61); moderate pain, 2.02 (1.28-3.22); and severe pain, 2.12 (1.46-3.08). The statistical trend was significant in both total sites and severity of pain (p<0.001). Conclusions: There was a significant association between WoLES and both total pain sites and severity of pain, even after adjusting for potential confounding factors.

Background:Hematuria is a common and important complication in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients on oral anticoagulation therapy (OAT). This study evaluated the clinical significance of hematuria and its relationship with genitourinary disease in AF patients receiving OAT.Methods and Results:Among 20,456 consecutive AF patients who visited a tertiary hospital from January 2005 to April 2015, 5,833 had hematuria. Of these 5,833 patients, 3,798 were on OAT (OAT(+) group) and 2,035 were not (OAT(–) group). A total of 1,785 patients from each group were then matched on propensity score analysis. The prevalence of cancer and other diseases in the genitourinary tract was evaluated. While there was no difference in the prevalence of genitourinary stones or urinary tract infection, genitourinary cancer was significantly more common in the OAT(+) group than in the OAT(–) group (1.6% vs. 0.7%, P=0.011). Bladder cancer was the most common genitourinary malignancy, and it was significantly more common in the OAT(+) group (1.2% vs. 0.5%, P=0.019). Subjects on warfarin were more likely to have bladder cancers of lower pathologic grade (63.6% vs. 33.3%, P=0.124).Conclusions:OAT was associated with a higher prevalence and early detection of genitourinary cancer in AF patients with hematuria. Meticulous evaluation of the cause of hematuria is necessary in AF patients with hematuria receiving OAT.

Linezolid is an oxazolidinone antibiotic against Gram-positive bacteria. Although thrombocytopenia is a major adverse effect of linezolid, hyponatremia also often develops after linezolid administration. This study examined the frequency of hyponatremia that developed during linezolid treatment and identified its risk factors. In this retrospective, single-center, observational cohort study, 61 hospitalized patients treated with linezolid between January 2013 and January 2015 were analyzed. Hyponatremia was defined as a sodium level of ≤134 mEq/L for the duration of linezolid treatment. Its risk factors were identified via a logistic regression analysis. Hyponatremia occurred in 11 (18.0%) patients, and it was severe in a case (a sodium level of ≤128 mEq/L). Univariate and multiple logistic regression analyses identified the plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) level before the initial administration of linezolid and the concomitant use of a potassium-sparing diuretic as the independent variables associated with the development of hyponatremia. The odds ratios were 1.081 (95% confidence interval [CI]; 1.008–1.158) (p=0.028) and 11.017 (95% CI; 1.869–64.939) (p=0.008), respectively. Before linezolid treatment, the CRP levels of the hyponatremia group were significantly higher than those of the no-hyponatremia group (p<0.001). The frequency of hyponatremia development was significantly higher in the patients who received both the potassium-sparing diuretic and linezolid (p=0.016). These results suggest that the plasma sodium levels of patients with severe inflammation who are treated with linezolid and those of linezolid-treated patients co-administered a potassium-sparing diuretic should be continuously monitored.

[Purpose] To provide data for systematic intervention plans in occupational therapy practice by objectivity showing the value of mirror therapy interventions in children with cerebral palsy. [Subjects and Methods] Medline and EMBASE databases were searched for the key words “cerebral palsy,” “mirror movement,” “mirror therapy,” and “mirror visual feedback.” Nine studies that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were identified. The qualitatively determined level of evidence, period of research, comparisons and interventions, tools used to measure the intervention, and the effects were analyzed. [Results] According to the results analyzed, one (1/9, 11.1%) study showed the same result as the control group, one (1/9, 11.1%) showed a negative effect, and seven (7/9, 77.8%) showed positive effects of mirror-mediated therapy, with meaningful improvement in function, such as hand strength, movement speed, muscle activity, and accuracy of hand matching. [Conclusion] Through this study, the value of mirror-mediated therapeutic interventions in occupational therapy practice targeting cerebral palsy was confirmed. It is expected that this result will be useful in establishing mirror therapy as an interventional program.

Changes in light quality strongly affect several plant anatomical, physiological, morphological, and biochemical parameters of orchid tissue culture seedling growth. In this experiment, ways in which light quality influence plant photosynthesis, growth parameters, and carbon dioxide rhythms of different sizes (stage I, II, and III) of Phalaenopsis tissue culture seedlings were examined. Stage I (Seedlings of 1–2 cm in height with 1–2 leaves and 1–2 roots) tissue culture seedlings were grown under six different light qualities under a T5 fluorescent lamp: White, Red (610 nm), Red (658 nm), Blue (440 nm), Red (610 nm) + Blue (440 nm), and Red (658 nm) + Blue (440 nm). After 5 months, cultured seedlings exposed to the Blue (440 nm) treatment showed significantly higher responses in terms of leaf quantities and chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophyll, and carotenoid content. On the other hand, seedlings subjected to the Red (658 nm) treatment grew more stems and presented with higher fresh weight and leaf lengths compared to the results of other treatments. The number of roots increased under the Red (658 nm), Blue (440 nm) + Red (610 nm), and Blue (440 nm) + Red (658 nm) treatments. Moreover, seedlings subjected to Red light (658 nm) showed significantly higher levels of Rubisco enzyme activity than those subjected to the other treatments. Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase activities recorded during the nighttime in seedlings subjected to Red light (658 nm) were also significantly greater. The results showed that during stage I, the concentration of carbon dioxide rhythm ranged from 1500–1800 ppm and reflected a C3 photosynthesis system. As the seedlings matured, the carbon dioxide rhythm decreased to 400–800 ppm at night and reached stage III (CAM plant). After 5 months of culturing, the carbon dioxide rhythm of the Red (658 nm) treatment seedlings changed from C3 to CAM, while seedlings subjected to the other treatments were still in the intermediate stage (stage II). From these results, we conclude that to enhance seedling growth through commercial production, Red (658 nm) should be applied.

Background:Excess dietary salt is strongly correlated with cardiovascular disease, morbidity, and mortality. Conversely, potassium likely elicits favorable effects on cardiovascular disorders. In epidemiological studies, increased plasma osteoprotegerin (OPG) concentrations are associated with atherosclerosis and vascular deaths. Our study was designed to examine the effects of salt intake and potassium supplementation on plasma OPG levels in normotensive subjects.Methods and Results:The 18 normotensive subjects were selected from a rural community in China. They were sequentially maintained on low-salt diet for 7 days (3 g/day, NaCl), high-salt diet for 7 days (18 g/day), and high-salt diet with potassium supplementation for 7 days (18 g/day of NaCl+4.5 g/day of KCl). High-salt intake enhanced plasma OPG levels (252.7±13.9 vs. 293.4±16.1 pg/mL). This phenomenon was abolished through potassium supplementation (293.4±16.1 vs. 235.1±11.3 pg/mL). Further analyses revealed that the OPG concentration positively correlated with 24-h urinary sodium excretion (r=0.497, P<0.01). By contrast, OPG concentration negatively correlated with 24-h urinary potassium excretion (r=0.594, P<0.01).Conclusions:Salt loading can enhance the production of circulating OPG. Potassium supplementation can reverse the effects of excessive OPG. Our study results may improve our understanding of the roles of salt and potassium in the risk of cardiovascular disorders.

We aimed to assess the prevalence and determinants of herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) mono-infection and HSV-2/syphilis co-infection in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive men who have sex with men (MSM) in China. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 545 HIV-positive MSM in Shenyang between February 2009 and October 2014. Participants received physical examinations and serological tests for HSV-2 and syphilis. A multinomial logistic regression was used to identify risk factors associated with HSV-2/syphilis co-infection and HSV-2 mono-infection. The HSV-2 mono-infection, syphilis mono-infection, and HSV-2/syphilis co-infection prevalence (95% confidence interval) was 48.6% (44.4–52.8%), 34.3% (30.3–38.3%), and 22.9% (19.4–26.5%), respectively. In regression analysis, after controlling within HSV-2/syphilis-seronegative cases, related factors for HSV-2/syphilis co-infection were age (25–50 years vs. ≤24 years, aOR: 4.55; >50 years vs. ≤24 years, aOR: 43.02), having regular female sexual partner(s) in the past 6 months (aOR: 0.43) and age at first MSM experience (>18 years vs ⩽18 years, aOR: 2.59) (all P < 0.05).The high prevalence of HSV-2 infection and HSV-2/syphilis co-infection in HIV-positive MSM indicates high HIV secondary transmission risk. A campaign for detection and treatment of HSV-2 and syphilis is urgently required for HIV-positive MSM in China.

今回、我々は北海道十勝で生産された豆類やジャガイモ、新規作物として栽培開発を行っているチコリから難消化性糖質を分離、そのプレバイオティクス効果について検証した。豆類では、澱粉の構造がレジスタントスターチタイプ2であり、この澱粉が加熱調理加工過程でタイプ3の老化澱粉とタンパク質の被膜が形成されることにより、消化性が低下する可能性が見い出された。その結果、ラットの盲腸内で酸発酵が増進し、短鎖脂肪酸の上昇とpHの低下が認められ、腸内環境を改善させることが明らかとなった。さらに、十勝の特産物であるジャガイモもエステル結合したリン酸基を持つ澱粉であり、レジスタントスターチタイプ2に分類される。この澱粉も加熱調理加工することによりタイプ3の老化澱粉が増加する可能性がある。このジャガイモ澱粉がラット盲腸内で短鎖脂肪酸量を増加させ、特に酪酸の総短鎖脂肪酸に対する比率の上昇は消化を刺激して、糞便重量を増加させることが明らかであり、酪酸の好材料であることが確認された。また、チコリ由来のイヌリンについても、十勝イヌリンがin vivoおよびin vitro研究で盲腸内微生物叢、特にLactobacillusおよびBifidobacteriumレベルを上昇させ、総短鎖脂肪酸濃度も増加させることが明らかとなり、従来の報告と一致していた。以上の結果より、豆類およびジャガイモのデンプンにはレジスタントスターチの作用を有しており、また十勝で新規に栽培したチコリ由来のイヌリンにも腸内改善効果が認められ、機能性糖質としてプレバイオティクス作用を持つことが明らかとなった。This report describes our recent studies evaluating the prebiotic effects of indigestible sugar separated fromtraditionally cultivated beans and potatoes as well as newly developed chicory harvested in the Tokachi area,Hokkaido,Japan. The results indicated that the structure of starches in beans can be categorized as resistant starch type 2 (RS2). Rats were found to have reduced digestibility of beans,probably due to the conversion ofRS2 to resistant starch type 3(RS3,retrograded starch) as well as interaction with denatured protein formed during the heating process. The study also found that intake of beans facilitated cecal acid-fermentation in rats,increased short chain fatty acid levels,and lowered pH. Consequently,intake of beans was found to beeffective in improving the balance of intestinal flora. Potatoes contain starch composed of esterified phosphorusas well as RS2,which is likely converted to RS3 during the heating process. Administration of potato starch also increased cecal short chain fatty acid levels,particularly lactic acid. Theincreased production of lactic acid was found to facilitate digestion,resulting in increased amounts of fecal matter. Inulin derived from chicory harvested in Tokachi area was also found to be effective in improving fecal fermentation,especiallyby increasing Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium levels,along with increasing total short chain fatty acidconcentrations. These results are in agreement with previous findings. Overall,it was found that beans and potatoes contain resistant starch with distinct properties,and that these foods,along with chicory-derived inulin demonstrated a health-promoting prebiotic effect through improvement of intestinal flora.http://www.jsdaa.org/kaishi/backnumber.html

Canine parvovirus type 2 (CPV-2) is the main etiological agent of viral enteritis in dogs. Actually in literature, CPV-2 has been reported with clinical signs that vary from the classical disease, and immunochromatography test and PCR technique have been introduced to veterinary hospitals to confirm CPV-2 diagnosis and other infections. However, the reliability of these techniques has been poorly analyzed. In this study, we evaluated the sensitivity and specificity of veterinary clinical diagnosis, immunochromatography test and PCR technique. Our data indicate that variations in the clinical signs of CPV-2 complicate the gathering of an appropriate diagnosis; and immunochromatography test and PCR technique do not have adequate sensitivity to diagnose positive cases.

A novel joining technique of ceramics to metals is presented, in which depositing Ti on ceramics with arc-added glow discharge is used as a prior metallizing technique and then brazing the ceramics to metals by abnormal glow discharge is carried out. The heating temperature of the base metals is easily controlled by varying the operating voltage and barometric pressure. The ions beam from the glow discharge anode is efficiently able to sputterclean the surfaces of the base materials, which thereby improves better Ti-deposited adhesion on the ceramics and the wetting and spreading properties of the filler metal. The thickness of the Ti-deposited layer is readily adjusted in terms of the actual requirement. The vacuum pressure during brazing can be up to 5Pa. The cost and duration of the glow discharge plasma brazing are reduced as compared with the traditional vacuum brazing process. The joining technique developed holds potential for industrial applications leading to high product quality.

Miyahisaite, (Sr,Ca)2Ba3(PO4)3F, a new mineral of the hedyphane group in the apatite supergroup, is found in the Shimoharai mine, Oita Prefecture, Japan. Miyahisaite is colorless and occurs as a pseudomorphic aggregate (up to about 100 μm in size) along with fluorapatite in the quartz matrix in a namansilite-rich layer of the chert. Its hardness is 5 on the Mohs scale, and its calculated density is 4.511 g/cm3. The empirical formula of miyahisaite is (Sr1.366Ca0.717)Σ2.083Ba2.911P3.002O12(F0.898OH0.088Cl0.014)Σ1.00, which is representatively shown as (Sr,Ca)2Ba3(PO4)3F. Its simplified ideal formula is written as Sr2Ba3(PO4)3F, which requires 23.25 wt% SrO, 51.62 wt% BaO, 23.89 wt% P2O5, 2.13 wt% F, and -0.90 wt% F = O, for a total of 100.00 wt%. The mineral is hexagonal with a space group P63/m, unit cell parameters a = 9.921 (2) Å, c = 7.469 (3) Å, and V = 636.7 (3) Å3, and Z = 2. The eight strongest lines in the powder XRD pattern [d (Å), (I/I0), hkl] are 3.427 (16) 102, 3.248 (22) 120, 2.981 (100) 121, 2.865 (21) 300, 1.976 (23) 123, 1.874 (16) 140, 1.870 (15) 004, and 1.864 (17) 402. The mineral was formed by the reaction between fluorapatite and the Ba-bearing fluid that produced the aegirine-rich layer with hydrous Ba-rich minerals during the late-stage activity.

Background:Previous research has demonstrated that ClC-3 is responsible for volume-regulated Cl–current (ICl.vol) in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). However, it is still not clear whether and how ClC-3 is transported to cell membranes, resulting in alteration ofICl.vol.Methods and Results:Volume-regulated chloride current (ICl.vol) was recorded by whole-cell patch clamp recording, and Western blotting and co-immunoprecipitation were performed to examine protein expression and protein-protein interaction. Live cell imaging was used to observe ClC-3 transporting. The results showed that an overexpression of endophilin A2 could increaseICl.vol, while endophilin A2 knockdown decreasedICl.vol. In addition, the SH3 domain of endophilin A2 mediated its interaction with ClC-3 and promotes ClC-3 transportation from the cytoplasm to cell membranes. The regulation of ClC-3 channel activity was also verified in basilar arterial smooth muscle cells (BASMCs) isolated from endophilin A2 transgenic mice. Moreover, endophilin A2 increase VSMCs proliferation induced by endothelin-1 or hypo-osmolarity.Conclusions:The present study identified endophilin A2 as a ClC-3 channel partner, which serves as a new ClC-3 trafficking insight in regulatingICl.volin VSMCs. This study provides a new mechanism by which endophilin A2 regulates ClC-3 channel activity, and sheds light on how ClC-3 is transported to cell membranes to play its critical role as a chloride channel in VSMCs function, which may be involved in cardiovascular diseases.

Non-neuronal and atropine-sensitive ileal contractile responses to short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are detected in the neonatal stage, and change with age or inflammatory conditions. However, the roles of luminal SCFAs in developmental changes have not yet been elucidated. We examined ileal contractile responses to SCFAs in mice colonized with different SCFA-producing intestinal microbiota under normal and inflammatory conditions. Using conventional (Conv), germ-free (GF), and gnotobiotic mice infected with Bifidobacterium (GB-bif), Propionibacterium (GB-prop), or Lactobacillus (GB-lact), ileal contractions were measured in 1-day-old neonates and 7-week-old mice using an isotonic transducer. Contractions occurred in all 1-day-old neonates, and were significantly desensitized in the adult stage in the Conv, GB-bif, and GB-prop groups, but not in the GF and GB-lact groups. An injection of lipopolysaccharide frequently restored desensitized contractions; however, the contraction rate did not change in the GF and GB-lact groups. The relative mRNA expression of a SCFA receptor (GPR43) or nicotinic acetylcholine receptor α7 was weaker in the GF group (0.3-fold or 0.4-fold expression level, respectively) than in the Conv group. In conclusion, the luminal inhabitation of SCFA-producing bacteria may potentiate the regulation of non-neuronal and atropine-sensitive ileal contractile responses to SCFAs under healthy and inflammatory conditions.

Background: Maternal care (egg-nymph guarding behavior) has been recorded in some genera of Acanthosomatidae. However, the origin of the maternal care in the family has remained unclear due to the lack of phylogenetic hypotheses. Another reproductive mode is found in non-caring species whose females smear their eggs before leaving them. They possess pairs of complex organs on the abdominal venter called Pendergrast’s organ (PO) and spread the secretion of this organ onto each egg with their hind legs, which is supposed to provide a protective function against enemies. Some authors claim that the absence of PO may be associated with the presence of maternal care. No study, however, has tested this hypothesis of a correlated evolution between the two traits. Results: We reconstructed the molecular phylogeny of the subfamily Acanthosomatinae using five genetic markers sequenced from 44 species and one subspecies with and without maternal care. Eight additional species from the other two acanthosomatid subfamilies were included as outgroups. Our results indicated that maternal care has evolved independently at least three times within Acanthosomatinae and once in the outgroup species. Statistical tests for correlated evolution showed that the presence of maternal care is significantly correlated with the secondary loss or reduction of PO. Ancestral state reconstruction for the node of Acanthosoma denticaudum (a non-caring species in which egg smearing with developed POs occurs) and A. firmatum (a caring species with reduced POs) suggested egg smearing was still present in their most recent common ancestor and that maternal care in A. firmatum has evolved relatively recently. Conclusions: We showed that maternal care is an apomorphic trait that has arisen multiple times from the presence of PO within the subfamily Acanthosomatinae. The acquisition of maternal care is correlated with the reduction or loss of PO, which suggests an evolutionary trade-off between the two traits resulting from physiological costs. This prediction also implies that presence of maternal care can be highly expected for those groups lacking behavioral data, which invariably also lack the organ. No secondary loss of maternal care was detected in the present tree. We suggest that the loss of maternal care may be suppressed due to the vulnerability of the PO-free condition, which thus maintains maternal care.

Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), and glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) were three key enzymes in the hepatic metabolism. This study aimed to investigate the effect of homocysteine (Hcy) metabolism gene polymorphisms and serum Hcy and folate level on the hepatic functions in a Chinese hypertensive population. A representative sample with 480 subjects aged 28-75 was enrolled in 2005.9-2005.12 from six hospitals in different Chinese regions. Serum ALT, AST and GGT were measured by using an automatic biochemistry analyzer. Serum Hcy was measured by high-performance liquid chromatography, and serum folate was measured by chemiluminescent immunoassay. Known genotypes were detected by PCR-RFLP methods. The results showed that the MTHFR C677T mutation was related a decreased serum AST level (r=−0.11, p=0.026), whereas the MTHFR A1298C mutation elevated serum AST level (r=0.11, p=0.032). Furthermore, multiple regression analysis showed that folate deficiency was associated with higher serum ALT (β (SE): 0.13 (0.06), p=0.031) and GGT level (β (SE): 0.18 (0.07), p=0.011). However, serum Hcy level may not affect the hepatic functions. Our data suggested that hepatic functions were affected by MTHFR gene polymorphisms and serum folate level. Further studies are needed to confirm these correlations in a larger population.

Two new species of Tortanus (Atortus), T. (A.) ampliramus and T. (A.) nishidai, are described from the northern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, respectively. These new species evidently belong to the recticauda species group in the recticauda species complex. The species group has a distinct distribution in the western Indian Ocean, extending from South Africa. The functional morphology of spermatophores of Tortanus is also discussed. A semelparous reproductive strategy may be employed in some species of Tortanus, whereas others adopt an iteroparous strategy as do most of centropagoideans. The formation of swarms was found exclusively in the subgenus Atortus which inhabits clear waters. Swarms of T. (A.) erabuensis may utilize swarms of another small copepod, Oithona oculata as prey.

In common apple cultivars with white flesh and red skin, it is known that fruit overload lowers fruit quality, and that skin anthocyanin concentrations are reduced by bagging treatment and warmer climatic conditions. In this study, the effects of these factors on anthocyanin accumulation in the flesh of red-fleshed apples were investigated using ‘Geneva’ and ‘Pink Pearl’ apple cultivars. Excess fruiting resulted in decreased anthocyanin concentration in the flesh and the titration acidity of the fruit in both cultivars. Fruit bagging treatments using double-layer paper bags revealed that anthocyanin was synthesized to a certain extent in the flesh under dark conditions in both cultivars. The treatment significantly reduced anthocyanin accumulation in the flesh of bagged ‘Geneva’ apples compared with unbagged fruit, but no inhibitory effect was clear in ‘Pink Pearl’ apples. In both cultivars, the anthocyanin concentration in the flesh of unbagged apples grown in sunlight was higher than that in unbagged apples grown in shade, whereas there was no difference between positions for bagged fruit. In apples grown in either sunlight or shade, no significant difference was found between anthocyanin concentrations in the sun-exposed side and shaded side of fruits. These results indicate that sunlight irradiation partially promoted anthocyanin accumulation in the flesh of unbagged ‘Geneva’ and ‘Pink Pearl’ apples and accelerated its accumulation on both the sun-exposed and the shaded side. A comparison of the fruit quality of ‘Pink Pearl’ apples grown in different climatic regions showed that apples harvested at Suzaka, a warmer region, were lower in firmness, starch index, and titration acidity and higher in soluble solids concentration compared with those from Morioka, a cooler region. The anthocyanin concentration in the flesh of ‘Pink Pearl’ apples from the trees grown at Morioka was more than ten-fold higher than that in apples from the trees grown at Suzaka. Our results suggest that an appropriate fruit load, growth in sunlight, and growth under cooler climatic conditions, may redden the flesh of red-fleshed apples, as is the case for common apples.

[Purpose] This study aimed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of intraoral application of low-level laser therapy (660 nm) to control pain, swelling and interincisal opening following the extraction of mandibular third molars. [Subjects and Methods] Ten patients underwent removal of lower third molars using the same surgical protocol and pharmacological approach. In the postoperative period, all patients received four consecutive daily sessions of low-level laser therapy, beginning 24 hours after the surgery. Intraoral applications using the diode laser with 660 nm wavelength in the continuous scan mode were performed covering the entire surgical area, which was divided into four quadrants, each of 1 cm2 area at a distance of 1 cm. The energy applied at each point was 5 J/cm2 during 8 seconds. [Results] The swelling and interincisal opening returned to normal 24 hours after the first low-level laser therapy application (Friedman test). Moreover, the pain intensity was reduced on the third postoperative day, according to the Friedman test. [Conclusion] Low-level laser therapy (660 nm), at the dosimetry used in this study, was effective in reducing postoperative pain and swelling following oral surgery.
