呼吸器外科領域のカルチノイドは肺原発と胸腺原発に分けられ比較的稀な疾患である.一般的に低悪性度腫癌と考えられているが,非定型カルチノイドには予後不良のものもある.今回,われわれは当施設で切除された肺原発と胸腺原発のカルチノイド各々28例と11例について,臨床的因子を比較検討した.肺原発カルチノイドは28例あり全肺癌切除例3371例の0.83%を占め, 11例の胸腺原発カルチノイドは全縦隔腫癌切除例662例の1.67%を占めていた.性差,年齢差はなく,発見動機としては大部分が実検で発見されていた.発生部位は,肺原発のものでは左右差はなく末梢発生が多く見られた.術前にカルチノイドと診断された正診率は肺原発(18/28,64.3%)胸腺原発(2/5,40%)であった.胸腺原発カルチノイドでは周囲臓器への浸潤が多かった(3/11,27.3%).組織亜型の頻度には差はなかった.胸腺原発カルチノイドの5年生存率は38.9%で,肺原発の5年生存率90.4%と比較して有意に予後不良であった.肺非定型カルチノイドではリンパ節転移がみられた(5/15,33.3%).再発死因の検討では胸腺原発カルチノイドで局所再発による死亡がみられ,充分な外科的切離縁の確保と系統的なリンパ節郭清が必要と考えられた.

大学生の留年問題を取り扱った報告は非常に少ないので,この問題について一石を投ずるために,東京理科大学理工学部機械工学科の事例について筆者の私見を述べる。留年生の数は教師の教育水準と学生の到達度の評価次第である。筆者担当の機械設計(製図)の科目につき「えんま帳」を紹介しながら筆者の教育哲学を披露する。

The pupose of this paper is look at the events surrounding the Yihetuan 義和団 Incident in the light of the communications revolution touched off by the invention of the telegraph during the late Qing period and consider the overall political transformation brought about by this technological breakthrough. During the Yihetuan Incident, communication between the capital and the provinces became very difficult due to the destruction of the telegraph lines around Beijing by the Yihetuan. The speedy transmission of information had taken on utmost importance: for example, in the conclusion of a mutual defense agreement between the southern provinces and foreigh countries, there was fear of contradictions arising from the central government already having declared war on them. This possible conflict of interest was easily dissolved by telegraph messages sent from Baoding 保定 via Shangi 山西. Just after this event, the Yihetuan began to tear down telegraph lines in Shangxi, thus pushing the Qing empire to verge of destruction. During the occupation of Beijing by the allied forces of the eight world powers, the telegraph network was put under their control. 列車ダイヤに乱れが生ずると,たいへん多くのお客さまに影響が生ずる.列車の運行を管理する指令室では,運休や,到着番線の変更など,列車ダイヤに対して一連の変更を加えることで,その影響を最小限にする努力がなされる.運転整理と呼ばれるこの業務を支援するため,各鉄道会社では専用のコンピュータシステムが導入されつつあるが,ダイヤ変更の内容を決定しているのは,実は,指令員と呼ばれる人間である.運転整理の根幹であるこの判断を,コンピュータが自動的に提案することはできるのであろうか.本稿では,この運転整理案の自動作成に関する研究動向と,筆者らの取組みを紹介する.

We have investigated at regular intervals about the water qualities of Lake Biwa-ko for the purpose of appreciating the present state of eutrophication. In this year 1976, the water qualities at the eight to nine specific stations were studied on February 25, May 8 and July 19, and the following results were obtained;1) The concentrations of total nitrogen are high at the three periods and over the boundary line for eutrophic lake.2)Total phosphorus is abundant in May, but low in February, which is about 50% of the results in May.3)A significant relationship is found to exist between the concentrations ofchlorophyll a, COD and nutrients, wherever the horizontal or vertical (St.4) of the lake water. This marked correlation seems to be due to the production of phytoplankton occurs regularly in Lake Biwa-ko. In addition, the above finding in this lake as probably in many other lakes supported to the esults reported in the previous paper.

The body temperatures of anesthetized patients under going operations decrease gradually because control of the body temperature is suppressed and the temperature of the operating room is kept lower than the body temperature. In order to prevent a patient's body temperature from lowering during an operation, a mat with hot-water circulation is often used. However, it has been reported that burn injuries occasionally occur in such cases, even when no defect in temperature setting and control of the mat is found. The mechanism causing this burn injury has not been determined. This report analyzes the heat transfer of a body-mat system simulated by a simplified model to examine the possibility and mechanism of such burn injuries. The analysis discusses the effects of hot-water flow rates, hot-water temperature and metabolic heat generation on body temperature. It is found that burn injury can occur, particularly in the high metabolic state, when heat transfer by the blood flow is negligible and the rate of water flowing into the mat is reduced considerably.

Behind Touchは,携帯電話やPDAなどの携帯端末を対象とした入力デバイスおよび画面インタフェースである.携帯電話は,携帯性が重要視されるため,機器の大きさには限界がある.提案するデバイスは,携帯電話の液晶ディスプレイを大型化することを目的に,本体表面から12キーを廃し背面に位置させる.しかし,背面のキーは,ボタンを直接視覚で確認しながら操作することができない.本研究は,この背面キー操作を触覚デバイスと指の位置をディスプレイに表示することによって,高速で分かりやすく,直接的な操作が可能となる手法を実現した.Behind Touchは,背面キーに触れることでディスプレイに表示されたボタンを選択し,そのままの指の位置で背面キーを押すことで実行操作を行う.PDAやウエアラブルコンピュータ,または家電機器のリモコンなど表示ディスプレイが操作部と離れている場合でも,小型な入力デバイスで快適な文字入力などの様々な操作を提供することが可能となる.Behind Touch are input device and GUI for mobile medias like as mobile phones or PDA. Mobile phones have a limit in size, because portability is significant condition for them. In the proposed device, 12 keys are not arranged on the top but on the backside of mobile phone, in order to enlarge the liquid crystal display. However we cannot look the keys on backside to confirm their position when we operate. This research realizes a method to operate directly and speedily by interface which can help the operation of keys on backside by tactile sense device and Behind Touch's GUI of showing users' finger position. In Behind Touch, we select the button showing on display by touching the keys on backside and operate by pushing them. Behind Touch can offer comfortable text inputting or various operations with small-sized input device not only for PDA, wearable computer, but also remote controls of home electric appliances which their display are positioned away from the operating point.

近年、論理合成の技術が実用的になるにつれ、ハードウェア記述言語は、ハードウェア設計の全工程に探く関わる設計ツールの中心的な存在として認められるようになってきた。また様々な設計ツールが開発されるにともなって、ハードウェア記述言語の標準化が行なわれている。VHDL(VHSIC Hardware Description Language)はIEEEの標準ハードウェア記述言語で、シミュレータへの入力記述や仕様記述のために開発された言語である。SFL(Structured Function Language)は同期回路を記述の対象とした論理合成指向の言語であり、PARTHENONシステムのもとでシミュレーションと論理合成ができる。本研究はVHDLの記述を入力とする論理合成を可能にするために、VHDLの抽象構文木を走査することによるSFLへの変換を設計し試作したものである。そのためのVHDLサブセットを提案し、変換処理を考察する。

論説(Article)本論文は、中近世における欧州諸国の貨幣史を簡単に振り返ったあと、商品貨幣という貨幣供給にかかわる制度的な制約の下で経済発展とともに生じた通貨不足や金銀貨の並行流通に起因する通貨間の換算問題という中近世欧州諸国における貨幣をめぐる諸問題について各国の政府や民間部門がどのように対応してきたかに関する議論を経済学的な視点から展望するものである。その際、貨幣制度と決済という2つの概念を基軸に据えるところに特色があり、その結果、次のような事実が確認された。第1は、対外交易と国内取引との間での決済手段の分離である。第2は、計算貨幣と実体貨幣の分離である。第3は、貨幣以外の決済手段の開発と集中的な支払決済機構の確立である。This paper surveys the discussions on the history of money in European medieval and early-modern times. In these times, gold, silver, and copper coins were used to denominate and settle commercial transactions. As the economy developed, most countries and regions faced the problem of monetary shortages due to the limited supply of gold and silver bullion and the high cost of coinage for copper coins. Debasement of silver coins was adopted as a common measure, and hampered monetary circulation. We found that government and private sector efforts to cope with these problems led to the emergence of (a) the dual currency system, or separation of payment media for overseas and domestic transactions; (b) the use of money of account for bookkeeping and settling large transactions; and (c) the establishment of the central funds settlement institution via exchange bills across the European countries.

長野県軽井沢町で1989年より2006年の繁殖期に105日の定点録音を行ない,鳥類の出現状況について解析を行なった.オオルリとハシブトガラスは増加傾向にあったが,それ以外の種は減少傾向にある種が多く,キジ,カッコウ,ツツドリ,クロツグミ,アカハラ,ウグイス,ホオジロ,ノジコ,アオジは調査開始当初は普通に記録されていたにもかかわらず,まったく記録されなくなった.減少した種の多くでは,一度,記録数が増加し,その後減少するパターンがみられた.増減のおきた時期は周囲で開発が行なわれた時期と一致しており,開発により生息できなくなった個体が一時的に調査地に移入し,その後,消失してしまうため,このような増減が起きたのかもしれない.
