Graft copolymers were synthesized via grafting-through method by the quantitative synthesis of macromonomers via living cationic polymerization using vinyloxy group-containing alcohols as quenchers and subsequent cationic copolymerization of these macromonomers and an alkyl vinyl ether. The quenching of living cationic polymerization of isobutyl vinyl ether (IBVE) using methanol, ethanol, 2-propanol, and tert-butyl alcohol indicate that the primary alcohols are suitable for end functionalization due to the stability of the acetal ω-ends. Thus, macromonomers were prepared by the end-capping method using vinyloxy-containing primary alcohols as quenchers for the living cationic polymerization of IBVE under appropriate conditions. The spacer structure adjacent to the vinyloxy group of the macromonomer is highly important for the efficient cationic copolymerization that proceeded without side reactions. A macromonomer prepared from 1,4-butanediol monovinyl ether was successfully copolymerized with IBVE using an appropriate catalyst, yielding graft copolymers in high yields.

This paper proposes a new auditory filterbank that enables signal resynthesis from dynamic representations produced by a level-dependent auditory filterbank. The filterbank is based on a new IIR implementation of the gammachirp, which has been shown to be an excellent candidate for asymmetric, level-dependent auditory filters. Initially, the gammachirp filter is shown to be decomposed into a combination of a gammatone filter and an asymmetric function. The asymmetric function is excellently simulated with a minimum-phase IIR filter, named the “asymmetric compensation filter”. Then, two filterbank structures are presented each based on the combination of a gammatone filterbank and a bank of asymmetric compensation filters controlled by a signal level estimation mechanism. The inverse filter of the asymmetric compensation filter is always stable because the minimum-phase condition is satisfied. When a bank of inverse filters is utilized after the gammachirp analysis filterbank and the idea of wavelet transform is applied, it is possible to resynthesize signals with small time-invariant errors and achieve a guaranteed precision. This feature has never been accomplished by conventional active auditory filterbanks. The proposed analysis/synthesis gammachirp filterbank is expected to be useful in various applications where human auditory filtering has to be modeled.

Magazine “FORTUNE” had the three special issues on “Japan and the Japanese”, “September, 1936”, “April, 1944” and “December, 1944”, before and during World War Ⅱ. The “April, 1944” issue was based on “September, 1936” article. The “December 1944” issue was based on the “April, 1944” article, but the texts had delicately different nuances. For example, “Japanese” in the 1936 issue was changed to “Jap” in the 1944 issue. Unfortunately, Japan became the enemy of the U.S. and had to be defeated during World War Ⅱ. Irrespective of the fact that it was war-time, “FORTUNE” Magazine wrote reasonably unbiased opinion about Japan and the Japanese against public opinion. These three “FORTUNE” issues influenced Japan’s surrender to the Allied Forces.

本稿の目的は、ジョルジュ・バタイユの普遍経済学における、意識の問題を整理することにある。議論は以下の手続きで行われる。第2節においては、『呪われた部分』における普遍経済学の概略を説明する。第3節においては、おもに『宗教の理論』から意識の問題を論じる。第4節においては、物理的局面と意識的局面における消尽の様相を論じる。第5節においてはこれまで述べてきた普遍経済学の観点から、奢侈としてある意識を明確に捉えなおす。これらの論を通して普遍経済学的視点から見たとき、意識が、奢侈性、物理的生産性への寄与、物理的破壊性への寄与、意識そのもの、および人間の個体性の生産および破壊、という性質をもつことを明確にする。最後の第6節「おわりに」においては、これまでの議論を整理するとともに今後の課題が提起される。

<p>The political thought of James VI has always been associated witn the divine right of kingship. However, the theory of divine kingship is merely one feature of his thought. James primarily developed his ideas under the influence of political realism that he encounterea in his youth. He then incorporated various elements of religious reformers' views and Renaissance humanism into his thought for the purpose of constructing strong kingship, which could not be threatened by any other entity. <br>In this paper, I examine the historical context that influenced the development of James' thought and the characteristics of his thought—the obedience theory, Renaissance humanism, and political realism.</p>

Progress in semiconductor technology has made it possible to buildsmall network clients compact enough to be embedded in credit cardsor wallets. These devices which have severely restricted computingresources are called ``micro-clients.'' We propose an approach forbuilding systems for micro-clients.The requirements of a system for micro-clients are as follows:(? 1? ) It must work with a small amount of memory and a low-power processor.(? 2? ) It must work even while the link is disconnected because of thehigh cost of communication.(? 3? ) It must work with low-quality communication links.We introduce a software system called Tuplink that meetsthese requirements. The Tuplink system on the client node manages acentral data pool to hold user and system information in anintegrated manner. The server node also has a data pool for eachclient and the contents of both pools are kept identical by meansof a communication network. This server-side data pool makes iteasier to build a system in which necessary functions are dividedbetween server and client nodes. One-to-one communication betweenclient and server is abstracted by a synchronization operationbetween the two pools in order to hide link management andcommunication timing from other subsystems. A communication protocolfor synchronization called the Tuplink protocol is used tosynchronize the two pools. Other subsystems such as the RPC file and database systems use the central data pool instead of their ownbuffers. The state of the communication link is hidden from othersubsystems. We call this the ``meta-middleware'' approach.The Tuplink system meets the above requirements as follows:(? 1? ) Use of the central data pool eliminates duplication of buffersamong subsystems and copying of data among buffers.(? 2? ) The system can operate while the link is disconnected byusing the central data pool as a data cache.(? 3? ) The synchronization protocol efficiently handles packet loss byusing the central data pool as a communication buffer.We have built systems based on the Tuplink model and applicationsfor them on several platforms including a smart phone Palm III and Windows CE?@. This paper discusses the approach and findings ofthe system implementation.

【はじめに、目的】股関節は、下肢と体幹をつなぎとめ身体を安定させるのに重要な関節であり、その安定性に関与しているのが股関節外転筋である。臨床において股関節外転筋の筋力低下が生じると、起立動作や歩行、階段昇降などの動作が不安定となるため、筋の特異性からも荷重位での強化練習が必要と推測される。しかし、股関節外転筋強化に関するシステマティックレビューは筆者が知る限り、Paul Macadam (2015)の一遍のみで、動作速度を規定し比較した研究はない。そこで今回、CKC動作における動作速度を規定した股関節外転筋の活動を検討し、効果的な運動方法を明らかにする。【方法】対象は健常男性10例とした。被検筋は右側の大殿筋上部(G-max)、中殿筋(G-med)、大腿筋膜張筋(TFL)とした。北九州地区6病院の理学療法士に臨床で行う荷重位での股関節外転筋運動種目の事前調査を行い、上位種目の中からスクワット、段差昇降、ブリッジ、サイドステップ、フロントランジ、ラテラルステップアップダウンの6つを課題種目とした。各動作は1回を2秒で5回連続して施行し、動作時表面筋電図を計測した。解析には5回のうち間3回の計測データを用いた。筋電図解析方法は徒手筋力検査法の手技に従い、5秒間の最大随意等尺性収縮時における筋活動を測定し、0.5秒毎に移動平均を行い、最大値を最大収縮値(MVC)とした。各動作の筋活動を各筋に0.1秒毎の2乗平均平方根にて平滑化を行い、MVCで正規化(%MVC)した。3試行の最大値の平均を算出し、3筋における各動作種目別の最大筋活動を求めた。統計解析は、フリードマン検定を行い、多重比較検定にはSteel-Dwass検定を用いて各筋の%MVCを比較検討し、有意水準はP<0.05とした。【結果】G-maxの筋活動は、筋活動の高い順にフロントランジ65.9%、サイドステップ53.7%、ラテラルステップアップダウン42.2%、段差昇降35.3%、ブリッジ21.4%、スクワット14.7%で、フロントランジはスクワットとブリッジと比べ優位に高い筋活動を示した(p<0.05) 。G-medはサイドステップ76.6%、ラテラルステップアップダウン64.8%、フロントランジ59.1%、段差昇降49.4%、ブリッジ30.3%、スクワット19.0%で、サイドステップはスクワットとブリッジと比べ有意に高い筋活動を示した(p<0.05)。TFLはサイドステップ118.5%、ラテラルステップアップダウン56.8%、フロントランジ48.6%、段差昇降43.8%、ブリッジ43.1%スクワット10.7%で、サイドステップがラテラルステップアップダウン以外と比べ有意に筋活動が高かった(p<0.05)。【結論(考察も含む)】今回、事前調査の中から選定した6つのCKC動作ではG-maxの強化はフロントランジを、G-medとTFLの強化はサイドステップを、3筋総合ではサイドステップを第一選択とすることが推奨された。【倫理的配慮,説明と同意】本研究はヘルシンキ宣言を遵守し、当院の理事会及び、製鉄記念八幡病院の倫理審査委員会の承認を得て実施した(承認番号17-11)。対象者には文書及び口頭で本研究の主旨及び目的を説明し、書面にて同意を得た。

目的: カナダBC州のバンクーバー, スティーブストン, フレーザーバリー在住の日系人の食生活における日本人としてのアイデンティティーの検索調査時期及び調査対象: 調査時期は1992年9-10月であり, 対象は27-90歳の日系二世および三世225名 (男子19名, 女子206名) である.結果: 1. 行事は, 西洋の行事 (クリスマス, ハローイン, イースター) と日本の行事 (正月, お盆, 雛祭り, 大晦日) が並列に行われており, 行事食は伝統的な形のものが残っていた. 日本の行事食として定着しているのは, 赤飯, 寿司, 煮しめ, 饅頭であった. こんにゃくは, 現在でも手作りされている.2. 正月料理の雑煮は, 丸餅を焼かずに煮込む白味噌または澄まし仕立てであり, 西日本の食文化が主流である.3. カナダでアレンジされた料理には, BCロールがあり, カリフォルニアロールと一緒にレストラン料理として定着している.4. 日系人独特の行事食としてチャーメンが定着していた.
