The nucleosome arrangement in the genome is an important long-standing problem in biology. To address this, we recently developed a new technology for investigating 3D positions and orientations of nucleosomes across the genome. Analysis of the yeast genome revealed that the nucleosome arrangement is composed of two basic structures, named α-tetrahedron and β-rhombus. Further, we discovered that the nucleosome arrangement is distinct at every genomic locus depending on epigenetic regulation. The results provide the molecular basis of transcriptional and epigenetic events on the genome.

In this paper, the effects of oil bodies, coagulant, pH and enzyme treatment on the aggregation behavior of soymilk were reviewed from the viewpoint of a colloidal dispersion system. The applicability of Einstein's and Krieger-Dougherty's theories of viscosity was examined using soymilk samples. The oil bodies in the soymilk behaved as suspended substances, and it was possible to predict the relative viscosity from the volume fraction of the oil bodies. The coagulation of soymilk with magnesium chloride was also investigated, and the validity of the novel viscous model with the effect of cross-linkage was discussed. The viscosity during coagulation could be predicted by the model, based on particle size as a property of the dispersion system. From the results of the effect of pH on the stability of soymilk using the centrifugal method, the state of soymilk components changed in three steps as a function of decreasing pH. The aggregation of high-fat soymilk digested by papain required heat pretreatment. It was suggested that oleosin, which stabilized the oil body emulsion, was digested by papain and the aggregation was promoted by heat pretreatment.

We surveyed the spatial and temporal distribution of Japanese sea nettle jellyfish Chrysaora pacifica in Omura Bay, Japan, using an environmental DNA (eDNA) method. In 2018, the C. pacifica eDNA concentration increased from March–May at all depths. The seasonal pattern of C. pacifica eDNA was consistent with previous reports based on visual observations along the Japanese coast. Thus, the eDNA method might have advantages to follow the seasonal pattern of C. pacifica while being less time-consuming and less laborious compared with traditional methods. The eDNA concentrations tended to reach a maximum near and/or below the pycnocline throughout this study. Therefore, the vertical distribution of C. pacifica medusae may have been restricted by strong pycnocline formation in July and August 2018. However, even with a weak pycnocline, which C. pacifica should be able to swim across, the apparent distribution of C. pacifica eDNA seems to be restricted by the pycnocline. Therefore, the eDNA method cannot, currently, accurately assess the absolute vertical distribution pattern of C. pacifica, especially when a pycnocline is formed.

中国は古くから針灸と同じく導引 (気功) の効果を高く評価して来た。気功も針灸も生命エネルギーである気の流れをよくする面では一致している。大脳を休息させ, 内分泌活動を促進させ, 自律神経の平衡を司って, 体力, 精神力共に増強させる。いつでも, どこでも, たやすく行われるセルフコントロールの健康法であるのみならず, 神経症, 高血圧, 喘息, 胃腸障害などの疾病治療にも著しい効果がある。今後, 癌の予防に, 神, 気, 精 (精神力, 気力, 精力) の増強の為にもなお一層の研究がのぞましい。ここでは中日治療院の針灸と気功の初歩的な結合を紹介し, 今後「針灸と気功の結合」について理論的にも, 実践的にも一層の研究が進められることを期待する。

Kiko-therapy has been indicated for bronchial asthma, but its effect has never been evaluated objectively. Our case was a ten-year-old boy with severe asthma who had been undergoing long-term institutional therapy. He had a tendency to hyperventilate due to psychological factors and had been resistant to all kinds of therapy. During a four-month treatment with Kiko-therapy, both symptoms and peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) were studied. PEFR increased significantly, strongly suggesting that Kiko-therapy contributed to the improvement of airway obstruction in this patient.

コシアブラ若芽の抗酸化活性をβ-カロテン退色法とDPPHラジカル消去活性で評価したところ,高い活性を示した.主たる抗酸化成分は,クロロゲン酸と同定された.グロースチャンバー試験で,その成分含量に影響する要因を検討したところ,光が強く,穂木が長いと含量が高まることが示された.その結果に基づいて,好適な促成栽培技術を確立するため,ガラス室内で栽培条件が収量と抗酸化成分含量に及ぼす影響を検討した.促成栽培では,10~15℃の水に30~40 cmの穂木を挿すことによって,クロロゲン酸含量の多い若芽を収穫できた.

Previously, we constructed the e-learning support system which measures up to the qualificationexam for certified "Health Fitness Programmer", and suggested that the system is effective forimprovement the passing rate of the exam (Higuchi & Oshita, 2015). The purpose of this study wasto investigate the characteristics of individuals who failed the exam by analyzing the answers of theexercises in the e-learning system in detail. The participants were 48 qualification examinees using oure-learning system. The exercises in e-Learning consisted of 11 fields and 300 questions. The answers ofthe exercises in each field were calculated the initial score (IS), the average score (AS) and the highestscore (HS) for each participant. Further, these scores in each field were compared between participantswho passed the qualification exam (PASS, n = 38) and those who failed (FAILE, n = 10). HSs of almostfields were not significantly different between PASS and FAILE. IS in health policy field and AS in noncommunicablediseases (NCDs) field were significantly lower in FAILE than in PASS (p < 0.05). IS inNCDs field and HS in health fitness theory field tended to be lower in FAILE than in PASS (p < 0.10).Especially in NCDs and health fitness theory fields, score differences between PASS and FAILE werelarger in AS than in IS. Therefore, participants who failed the qualification exam fewer improved theirscores in these two fields even after repeated exercises, suggesting that these fields are weak point ofthem. These results suggest that it is necessary to devise learning contents that get interesting in theNCDs, health fitness theory, and health policy fields for improvement the passing rate of the qualificationexam for certified "Health Fitness Programmer".

子宮頸癌の原因因子が,ほぼすべてでヒトパピ ローマウイルス (HPV) であることから,HPV を標的と した治療ストラテジーが期待される.子宮頸癌は,婦人 科腫瘍において,最も特定の標的を定めることができる 癌である.本稿では,我々が開発している HPV 標的治 療の可能性と,若年の浸潤性子宮頸癌 I 期に対する子宮 温存手術(生命の再建術)について紹介したい.
