液晶の垂直配向において、85度以下の均一で安定したプレチルトを発生させるため、電圧印加ポリマースタビライズ技術(BPS)と光配向法を併用した。この液晶に数パーセントの液晶性モノマーを添加して行ったBPS法により、80度ほどの低いプレチルトを達成した。得られたプレチルト角は、温度に対して、非常に安定であった。この方法を垂直配向STNに適用して、得られた垂直配向STNは、急峻な電圧透過率特性を示し、高い時分割駆動特性が可能であった。

<p>木材需要の拡大,木材資源の活用,環境に対する関心が高まる中で,高収率で高品質なパルプを得ることのメリットは非常に大きい。しかしパルプ工程は,パルプ成分のセルロース,ヘミセルロースの溶出を抑制して,リグニンを効率的かつ選択的に除去する工程であるが,ヘミセルロースの溶出でパルプ収率ロスに繋がっていること確認されていた。</p><p>本稿ではヘミセルロースの溶出防止と再吸着反応に着目して,最適な操業pH域の調査と同コンセプトの弊社開発品について考察した。</p><p>リグニンおよびヘミセルロースは,pH域によりパルプへ再吸着または黒液へ溶出し,パルプ収率に影響を与えることが確認された。またリグニンを選択的に溶出させ,ヘミセルロースをパルプに再吸着する理想的なpH域が存在した。</p><p>O₂晒,酸晒工程の操業pHは,吸着量や白色度,カッパー価との相関からパルプ収率や品質に影響を及ぼしていた。これらの再吸着pHや晒工程の操業pHを活用すれば,パルプ収率や品質向上に貢献することが期待できた。</p><p>収率向上剤ポリマスターR-608Kは,実操業上pHの調整が困難な場合電荷中和を利用してセルロースにヘミセルロースを吸着させる機能があり,パルプ収率向上に非常に有望であった。</p><p>また操業安定化剤ポリマスターR-100は蒸解液の木材チップへの浸透を強化し,チップの沈降性を均一化させる機能があり,アルカリ低減,蒸解温度低下,蒸解時間の短縮などの蒸解条件の緩和メリットを提案することができることも確認できた。</p>

Vibration feedback is applied on most touch-screen-based mobile devices to notify users of their operations. However, the effect of vibration types on the operations is not yet discussed in detail. In this study, therefore, the authors applied various vibration patterns to the feedback during dragging operations and investigated their influence, especially for the usability and workload, on the operations. The participants in the study performed the task of dragging a target around a circle on a smartphone with the vibration device attached. The results revealed that applying specific vibration patterns during the operation affects users' dragging speed, workload and annoyance. Finally, the authors presented four design guidelines, which include that vibration types do not affect dragging operation speed in easy tasks and the vibration patterns with high vibration intensity increase users'’ workload and annoyance.

In this work, we have developed an alternative and improved &ldquo;optical softlithographic&rdquo; microfabrication method for patterning on a concave substrate as well as the fabrication of micro patterned PDMS cylindrical stamps for the potential application to nano imprinting. Firstly, we fabricated SU-8 micro patterns with high aspect ratio (over 4) on a concave glass substrate using optical softlithography, where UV light was exposed through a very flexible mask attached on the concave surface. We investigated the optimal experimental conditions depending on shapes and scales, and examined the resolutions of patterns. Next, we replicated a PDMS cylindrical stamp using SU-8 micro patterns as a mold. Intermediate female molds were made from the original cylindrical mold. Then, the stamp was made by filling the intermediate mold with PDMS monomer and solidifying it. Thus, this technique provides us with novel fabrication technique of 3D micro patterns on curved substrate as well as a cylindrical polymer stamp for roll micro contact printing.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is rarely reported in Japan. We experienced two cases of EoE in one year. Case 1 : A 55-year-old woman with an allergic rhinitis complained of heart burn. Endoscopy revealed that esophageal mucosa was so thick as to be unable to observe the vessels, and white exudates and longitudinal furrows were found in the esophagus. Its caliber was slightly narrow. Case 2 : A 40-year-old man complained of nausea with no history of allergic disease. About one-third of the circumference in the middle esophagus, mucosal thickening and longitudinal furrows were observed during endoscopy, where the vessels were obscured. In both cases, histological examination of biopsy specimens revealed marked eosinophil infiltration in the esophageal mucosa, more than 20 per high-power field (HPF) . These patients were diagnosed with EoE based on the diagnostic guideline, but their histories and endoscopic findings were considerably different. It will be necessary to elucidate what brought about the differences.

大学図書館における「教育」の機能は重要さを増しており,その成否の鍵を握るのが図書館職員である。本研究の目的は,国立大学の大学図書館における「教育」活動に着目し,その担い手となる職員の量と質に関して,大学間の格差の実態を明らかにすることである。分析の結果,とりわけ司書数における雇用形態別の大学階層間格差は拡大していることが明らかとなった。大規模な総合型大学では,小規模な単科型大学に比べて,正規採用で専門性の高い司書が,「教育」活動に従事する傾向が強まっている。
