健常な女子学生38名(年齢19.8±0.9歳)を対象に,難消化性デキストリン(食物繊維4.2g)を含有したデザート飲料を摂取することによる排便状況に及ぼす影響を検討した。対象者を2群に分け,シングルブラインド・クロスオーバー試験を実施した。飲料摂取試験は全7週間であり,非摂取(I 期:1週間),飲料摂取(II 期:2週間),非摂取(III 期:1週間),飲料摂取(IV期:2週間),非摂取(V 期:1週間)とした。対照飲料は試験飲料に配合した難消化性デキストリンを含まない飲料を用いた。試験期間中,排便状況に関するアンケートを毎日,また健康状態に関するアンケートを1週間ごとに記入させた。その結果,便秘傾向者(n=12)において試験飲料の摂取により非摂取期間と比較して排便日数,排便回数,排便量いずれにおいても有意に増加した。さらに,難消化性デキストリンを配合した飲料は対照飲料摂取期間と比較して排便日数は有意な増加が認められた。また,愁訴発現からみた身体的・精神的健康状態調査からも,飲料摂取により便秘の改善はみられた。

When adult children expect that their parents will bequeath residential property to them, they may show their appreciation by providing their parents with financial support. This paper theoretically and empirically examines this possibility. We adopt a simple noncooperative game framework with a Stackelberg equilibrium to examine the reciprocal interdependence between the propensity of housing inheritance and financial assistance when formal care affects decision-making. We use data from Japanese households to test this interaction. After considering both the censoring of financial transfers and the specification of inheritance propensity, which we control for using information on formal care, our empirical results suggest that the propensity to inherit the parental home has a significantly positive impact on the amount of transfers from children to their parents. Consequently, an implicit annuity contract in the form of an intrafamily reverse mortgage appears to exist in Japanese society. However, parents should ensure they convey to their children a high expectation of future housing inheritance to extract sufficient financial assistance for their current consumption needs.

Kojima Art Laboratory has been engaged in the Shizu-Okashi (Japanese- style confectionery associated with Shizuoka-city) art project since 2008 to promote communication and innovation in the community. As part of the project, we are now holding an art show using as a motif rabbit rice cake sweets, one of the three traditional confectioneries in Shizuoka-city.The show presents the art works featuring a fairy tale of rabbits giving rabbit rice cake sweets as a gift to Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, who lived in Sunpu Castle, Shizuoka-city, in the early 1600 s. The art works are comprised of three folding screens, a bead castle, and two shaped articles based on the fairy tale. The show is scheduled to be held in several shops and public facilities in the community.

─コモディティーは今後も強気相場が続くのか。ジム・ロジャーズ(以下ジム) もちろんすべての商品の値段が一本調子に上がり続けることはないが、向こう十数年、多くの商品が上がるだろう。理由は極めてシンプル。需要と供給、それだけだ。例えば、原油については、過去40年間、新たな大油田は発見されていない。一方で、中国を中心としたアジアの台頭や世界経済の成長が続いている。英国はここ10年で原油の輸入国に変わり、中国も世界屈指の原油輸入国になっている。

High-magnitude mechanical strain inhibits bone nodule formation by reducing expression of bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2), Runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2), and muscle segment homeobox 2 (Msx2). Mechanical strain also induces production of proinflammatory factor prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) by osteoblasts. We measured the effect of mechanical strain-induced PGE2 production on bone nodule formation and expression levels of bone formation-related factors. Osteoblast-like cells isolated from fetal rat calvariae were loaded with 18% cyclic tension force (TF) for 48 h in the presence or absence of NS-398, a selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2. To investigate the effect of TF-induced PGE2 on bone formation, bone nodule area on day 21 was measured by von Kossa staining. BMP-2, Runx2, and Msx2 expression levels were examined at 1 day after TF loading. Bone nodule formation was significantly inhibited by TF but was restored to control level by PGE2 inhibition. Furthermore, TF loading-induced reductions in expressions of these factors were restored to control level by PGE2 suppression. These results indicate that PGE2 production induced by high-magnitude mechanical strain inhibits bone nodule formation by reducing expression levels of bone formation-related factors.

In recent times trade studies of the Uruk to Jemdet Nasr periods in West Asia have delineated internal structures of the society and diverse de-velopments of the economy.The term in the fourth millennium B. C. is in course of urbanization, gradually developing from previous periods.Research on the exchange or trade system during these periods, therefore, could be meaningful for understanding social complexity continuing from the Ubaid period.This article refers to several aspects of the production, cir-culation, and consumption of goods, especially concerning to the wine, through the fourth millennium B. C. in West Asia.There have been fortu-nately found significant evidence of the wine production and distribution from Godin Tepe [Badler 1996], located along the 'Khorasan Road' in the western part of Luristan region in Iran.In this paper, firstly, I present a brief history of previous studies of local exchange and long-distance trade in the ancient West Asia.Then, I de-scribe the archaeological evidence for the production, storage, and consump-tion of wine at Godin Tepe and others, and put in brief order examples possibly implying means of transport, by water and/or land, reconstructing a provisional view of the transportation and distribution of wine in the pe-riods.Finally, I conclude that the wine trade started in the fourth millen-nium B. C. could provide commercial and administrative benefits in the economical and political contexts; that the wine commodities would repre-sent aspects of social complexity towards urbanization during which the rit-ual network in the Ubaid period could be transformed to the trade network in the Uruk period.

精神疾患は,2013年度から日本の医療計画における五疾病の一つに位置付けられた.メンタルヘルスの問題がますます身近なものとなっている今日にあっては,医学的・心理学的な病理や心的メカニズムとともに,日常の様々な空間とメンタルヘルスとのかかわりを解明する必要がある.英語圏の地理学者は,1970年前後から,既にこうした問題意識のもとで実証研究に取り組み始めた.本発表の目的は,メンタルヘルスを扱う英語圏の研究動向を整理し,その主題や方法論を検討することを通じて,メンタルヘルスへの地理学的な視点の有効性と課題を提示することである. 戦後,ノーマライゼーション理念の進展と福祉国家の危機は,思想と財政の双方の側面から,精神病院の解体と地域におけるケアの推進を要請した.この大きな政策的転換は脱施設化と呼ばれ,1960年代頃から欧米各国で進展した.地域の小規模な施設やサービスの整備が求められる中で,その立地やアクセシビリティが研究課題となった.サンノゼやトロント,ノッティンガムなど北米やイギリスの都市を事例に,センサスや土地利用に関するデータから,サービス利用者の社会・経済的属性や施設の立地とその背景要因が分析された(例えば,Dear and Wolch 1987).施設立地をめぐる紛争や近隣住民の態度を取り上げた研究も同様に,変数間の関連性を分析する計量的手法に依拠していた. 医学地理学や公共サービスの地理の一潮流として興隆したメンタルヘルス研究は,1990年前後に主題や方法論の転機を迎える.地理学における文化論的転回や,健康地理学や障害の地理の台頭が背景となり,社会・文化地理や歴史地理などの幅広い視点から,政策の再編とロカリティ(Joseph and Kearns 1996),「狂気」の歴史(Philo 2004),精神障がい者のアイデンティティ(Parr 2008)といったテーマが取り上げられた.史料や文学作品の分析,インタビュー調査や参与観察などの質的手法が導入されるとともに,研究対象となる時代や地域,空間スケールが多様化した.近年は,以上のような精神障がいに着目する研究に加えて,精神的な健康を,貧困や剥奪などの社会環境や,自然や災害・リスクから検討する研究も登場した(Curtis 2010). 政策の転換に伴う現象を空間的に捉えた一連の研究は,1990年前後を境に主題や手法を多様化させ,個々の研究分野へと細分化する傾向にある.こうした点はメンタルヘルス研究の課題であるとともに,分野間に関連性を持たせ,より大きな枠組みから地理的現象を解明する上で,メンタルヘルスが有効な視点になりうることをも示唆している.文献Curtis, S. 2010.
