Ascochlorin and its analogs were isolated from the filter cake of the fermented broth of a fungus, Ascochyta viciae Libert; the compounds obtained were ascochlorin, LL-Z1272δ, LL-Z1272 ε, ascofuranone, ascofuranol and a new analog, C23H31ClO5. Some of these prenyl phenols show hypolipidemic activity in both normolipidemic and hyperlipidemic rats. Details of the structure determination for ascochlorin are presented. The structure of the new analog was elucidated as 4'-hydroxy-5'-hydroascochlorin.

A new antibiotic, cyanocycline A, was isolated from the fermentation broth of Streptomyces flavogriseus strain No. 49, a soil isolate. The molecular formula of cyanocycline A was determined to be C22H26N4O5. The antibiotic has a cyano group and a N-heterocyclic quinone moiety in its structure. Cyanocycline A was found to have broad spectrum antimicrobial and antitumor activity.

Molecular structure and absolute configuration of 4-o-ethyl ascofuranone (C_<23>H_<28>O_5Cl・C_2H_5) were determined by X-ray crystal structure analysis. Crystal structure was solved by the multisolution method. Dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-furan-3-one ring in the molecule adopts an envelope conformation, and the spatial configuration around the asymmetric carbon on the ring is Sinister according to the notation by Cahn, Ingold and Prelog. ORD and CD spectra were consistent with the ketone octant rule which predicted negative Cotton effect for the carbonyl n-π transition. Proton NMR spectra indicated that the ring was rigid, and its conformation in the solution was approximately identical to that in the crystal. All these results are the first stereochemical data on dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-furan-3-one ring in natural product.

New microbial dispersants, CF2399 and CF2403, were discovered in a culture broth of fungi. In this study, we examined the adsorption of CF2399 and CF2403 to Titanium oxide (TiO2) particles, and synthesized the derivatives of CF2399 and evaluated them as a dispersant using the Copper (II) phthalocyanine pigment. Several examinations showed that the adsorption of CF2403 onto the particles is stronger than CF2399. Through the adsorption isotherm of CF2403 onto the inorganic pigment, we inferred that CF2403 has two adsorption systems of single-or double-layer due to their existent rates. The hydrophobic derivatives of CF2399 have higher activity of dispersion to the organic pigment than CF2399. We ascertained that the addition of hydrophobic group caused an increase in the adsorption rate to the hydrophobic pigment.

八丈島は伊豆七島の最南端に位置する火山島で、南東部に東山火山(三原山)、北西部に西山火山(八丈富士)と呼ばれる成層火山が繭型に連なる。八丈島の地質は、一色(1959)によりその全容が報告されているが、両火山の噴出物から形成される土壌に関する研究はあまり行われていない。一方、成立年代の古い東山ではスダジイ林に覆われ、成立年代の新しい西山にはスダジイ林はほとんど見られずタブノキ林に覆われおり、はっきりとした植生分布の相違が見られるのである。そこで本研究では、土壌の構成鉱物および化学組成を中心に分析し、東山と西山の違いについて明らかにするとともに、土壌の化学的・物理的性質を加味した上で、植生分布との関係を考察することを目的とする。

In order to elucidate the mechanism of the 2-acetylation in the reaction of nicotinic acid 1-oxide (2a) with boiling acetic anhydride, thermal reactions and reactions with hot acetic anhydride have been explored with 3-X-pyridine 1-oxides (2). The former reactions of 2d (X =CONHAc), 2f (X = CONMeAc), 2h (X = CH2OAc) and 2j [X = CH (OAc) 2] result in recovery or decomposition. The latter reactions of 2c (X =CONH2), 2d, 2e (X =CONHMe), 2h and 2j bring about mainly deoxygenative α-acetoxylation, no 2-acetylation being noticed. However, the reaction of 2f with acetic anhydride affords 6, 7-dihydro-6-methyl-7-methylene-5H-pyrrolo [3, 4-b] pyridin-5-one 1-oxide (7) as an initial product, which further undergoes deoxygenative β-acetoxylation to give 7-acetoxy-7-acetoxymethyl-6, 7-dihydro-6-methyl-5H-pyrrolo [3, 4-b] pyridin-5-one (8) and 7-acetoxymethylene-6, 7-dihydro-6-methyl-5H-pyrrolo [3, 4-b] pyridin-5-one (9). On the basis of these results we propose a new electrophilic pathway for the 2-acetylation of 2a and 2f.

本研究では,日本語楽曲の旋律と歌詞のアクセントの対応関係を自動的に分析するシステムを提案する.そのためには,歌詞中の各モーラが,どの音符に割り当てられているかを対応付ける必要がある.そこで,各モーラや区切り文字がどのように音符や休符と対応するかを確率的なスコアとして表現したDPマッチングによる自動対応付け手法を提案する.20パート分の楽曲に対して対応付けを行ったところ,正解率は約90%となった.この手法で求めた「モーラー旋律」の対応を,OJADの韻律予測で付与した「モーラーアクセント」の対応と比較し,「旋律ーアクセント」を対応付けしたところ,誤推定による数%の精度劣化はみられるが,良好な性能が得られることがわかった.

Мы публикуем интервью с известным сербским писателем Милорадом Павичем (p. 1929 г.). В беседе затронуты такие разные темы, как международное восприятие «Хазарского словаря» (его знаменитого романа, который был переведен на многие языки мира, в том числе и на японский), непрямолинейный принцип конструкции сюжета, постмодернизм Восточной Европы и «эргодическая литература», к которой сам писатель относит свое творчество. Далее автор «Хазарского словаря» рассказывает о своей творческой биографии: многогранный писатель является не только прозаиком, но и поэтом, а также ученым-филологом, специализирующимся на истории сербской литературы. Когда речь зашла о многонациональном культурном и религиозном фоне Балкан, который, на наш взгляд, обогащает его творческий мир, писатель сказал, что Балканы -- это то место, где мирное повседневное существование встречается с древними вулканами. Писатель также высказывает свои взгляды на «женскую прозу» и модернистскую и постмодернистскую литературу Европы и Америки 20-го века. Среди многих писателей, о которых мы упомянули в беседе (Милан Кундера, Умберто Эко, Петер Эстерхази, Роберт Кувер, Орхан Памук, Станислав Лем, Исмаил Кадаре и т.д.), он особенно высоко оценивает Бруно Шульца. Оказывается, что Павичу, как редактору одного издательства в Белграде, удалось издать «Дневник» Витольда Гомбровича еще тогда, когда тот был под запретом цензуры в Польше. Отвечая на наш последний вопрос о новых тенденциях литературы, визионер из Белграда заключил беседу, указав на два направления, которые он считает характерными для 21-го века: женская литература и глобализация литературы, благодаря которой мир становится одной «глобальной деревней».インタビューInterview
