A new scheme for hypocenter calculation is proposed for volcanic regions. The scheme finds the global minimum of the travel time residual, and the resulting solution is more stable than that from the conventional Geiger's method, especially when the number of observations is small or the station distribution is unsuited. In the first step (Step 1) of this scheme, the target area js parameterized by the node. The node distance depends on the heterogeneity of the velocity structure; usually about 0.3-1 km is sufficient. Travel times between nodes and stations are stored. In the first half of the second step (Step 2A), a node is sought that minimizes the sum of squares of the travel time residuals for the event. By changing the depth of this node, a set of initial hypocenter candidates is generated. In the following step (Step 2B), with these candidates for the initial hypocenter, precise locations of the event are obtained by nonlinear calculations using the simplex method. The hypocenter with minimum travel time residual is then selected as the most probable hypocenter. For the travel time calculation, the 3-D robust seismic ray tracer known as Fermat (Nishi, 2001) is used. If the velocity structure and the locations of the observation stations do not change, the results of Step 1 are effective for all events. Consequently, repetitions of only Step 2A and 2B are sufficient for every event. Successful outcomes of calculation using synthetic and actual data are obtained with practicable CPU times.

本研究では公道自動走行の性能評価のための仮想自動運転システムを提案する.これによりリアルタイムな自己位置推定・周辺環境の認識・周囲に合わせた最適な意思決定を可能とする.また,高速道路でのレーンチェンジ走行において,熟練ドライバの走行データと本システムの出力経路との差異から意思決定の安全性を検証する.

自律走行自動車ではパスプランニングが重要な技術課題となる.一般的に,自律走行車は高速で走行するため,生成する軌道は効率的かつ滑らかに計算可能である必要がある.本論文ではデジタル地図に基づき効率的かつ滑らかに起動を生成する方法を提案する.また,提案手法を用いて実施した東京モーターショー2011 におけるデモンストレーションの結果について述べる.

It has been known that proteins can be denatured not only by increasing the temperature but also by decreasing it. The latter phenomenon, which is normally called "cold denaturation", shows common features of protein unfolding as well as characteristics that are specific to each protein.

Streptococcus parasuis has recently been removed taxonomically from Streptococcus suis, a zoonotic pathogen. S. parasuis has been detected in healthy pigs and in diseased pigs, which suggests that S. parasuis is involved in the normal microbiota of pigs and has potential pathogenicity. However, the pathogenicity of S. parasuis in pigs is unclear because of the lack of appropriate detection methods that discriminate S. parasuis from S. suis. In this study, we developed a PCR method that is specific for S. parasuis. The detection limit of the PCR was 350 CFU per reaction. Bacteria isolated from the saliva of eight pigs were collected and examined by PCR. Sixty-four isolates positive for PCR were obtained from the samples of all pigs. Thirteen of the 64 isolates were genetically confirmed as S. parasuis, and biologically and biochemically had nearly the same features of known S. parasuis strains, which suggested that strains positive for PCR were S. parasuis. Among the 64 isolates, 28 isolates were serotypes 20, 22, or 26 in the S. suis serotyping scheme. The remaining 36 isolates were untypeable, which suggested the presence of novel serotypes or a capsule-negative form. Therefore, the PCR method described in this study is a useful tool for identifying S. parasuis, and can be used in etiological studies on this bacterium.

In attaining a high-aged and high-welfare society, various demands have been raised on health monitoring. One demand is to develop an unconstrained and noninvasive measurement instrument for respiration and heart rates. This is because they are the most basic information in monitoring the health of high-aged persons or patients in daily lives. Along this objective, several methods have been studied. But, the methods not only aimed to measure only one signal of the respiration and heart rates, but also were not the methods to assure a complete unconstrained measurement. Moreover, the methods needed much cost in making the equipment.The paper thus proposes a convenient measurement system which makes use of a wire-type respiration pick-up pasted on an air-mat (or water-mat), on which the subjects are laid down, and extracts the respiration and heart rates by applying low-pass and high-pass filters, respectively, to the data. Experiments show that the method offers accurate measurement of respiration and heart rates except for the duration of body movement. The measurement system is thus not only effective, but also easy to use for the cost, the size and the usage of the unconstrained and noninvasive type.
