[Purpose] The objective of the present study was to examine the factors, including physical and mental functions, that are associated with the prognosis for activities of daily living in patients with stroke in a recovery rehabilitation unit. [Subjects and Methods] The subjects were 13 patients with stroke who were admitted to the recovery rehabilitation unit of Tokai Memorial Hospital between March and October 2014 and followed up for 2 months. Their physical and mental functions were evaluated at the time of admission and the relationship between these functions and activities of daily living was assessed 2 months later. [Results] The activities of daily living at 2 months after admission showed a significant correlation not only with the severity of motor paralysis (R=−0.80) but mental function (R=−0.69) at the time of admission. No significant correlation was noted between the severity of motor paralysis and the mental function. [Conclusion] It is important to evaluate both mental function and severity of motor paralysis immediately after patients’ admission to the recovery rehabilitation unit. Mental health intervention should be considered in the future to effectively improve subsequent activities of daily living.

Since the clinical report of erythrophobia by Morita, a great number of psychiatrists aswell as psychologists have focused their attention on anthropophobia named taijin-kyoufushoin Japan. This syndrome is a culturally distinct phobia in japan and included in the officialJapanese diagnostic system for mental disorders. Its symptom is characterized as an individual'sintense fear or shame that his or her appearance, facial expression, eyeshot, or odor shoulddisplease, embarrass, or be offensive to other people. In this paper, I first presented thedefinition of taijin-kyoufusho and then its classification proposed by several researchers. Next,I overviewed various interpretations of the mechanisms of this phobia from psychodynamicviewpoints. Finally, I referred to the current problems of the phobia.

This paper deals with the vicissitudes of the Samurai Edo Residence in the early modern era by Hosokawa Archives. The contents are as follows. 1. Tatsunoguchi main-residence. 2. Hosokawa Sansai's residence. 3. Shiba secondary-residence. And in short, Hosokawa Edo residence was only Tatsunoguchi residence in 1622, and three residence existed in the site of this residence. So residence for the formal Shogunate visit could not be made. The residence for the formal Shogunate visit can be traced to the time of Kanei period. The center of Edo residences changed secondary-residence which was broad site from main residence which was narrow site in Kanei period. Also Sukiya residence can be traced time of Genna period.

This paper deals with the Higo clan's Samurai-Residence and the Sado-Gata in Middle Edo period from Hosokawa Archives. The contents are as follows. I. On the Higo clan's Samurai Residence 1. Hanabata-Residence in Higo 2. Shirogane-Residence in Edo 3. Togoshi-Residence in Edo 4. Suizenji-Garden in Higo II. On the organization of the Sado-Gata And in short, The large garden was made in the Samurai-Residence in the Miedle Edo period by the Sado-Gata. The Sado-Gata was formed in the about 1660 and was treated well. The Sado-Gata held oa advantageous position than Sakuji-Gata on the construction of the Sumurai-Residence in the about 1660.

Although study on the machine sign language translation in Japan has begun more than ten years ago, and has made much progress so as to put some products on the market, most of which translate Japanese to sign languages word by word. However, these are different from the sign language used in daily conversation, because Japanese language structure has not been analyzed enough to apply for sign language translation. This report describes algorithms for morpheme analysis and syntactic generation, which are developing for a Japanese sign language translation.

A chiral N,N,N-terdentate bis(imidazolidine)pyridine (PyBidine) has showed remarkable ligand acceleration effects in various metal catalyzed asymmetric reactions. For an example, PyBidine-Cu(OTf)2 catalyzed a highly endo-selective [3+2] cycloaddition of nitroalkenes with imino esters. X-ray crystallographic analysis of the PyBidine-Cu(OTf)2 complex and DFT calculations suggest that an intermediary generated Cu-enolate of the imino ester reacts with nitroalkenes, which are activated by NH-proton of imidazolidine ligand. Based on the intelligent role of imidazolidine, a new chiral imidazolidine-containing NCN palladium pincer complex (tBu-PhBidine-PdX) was prepared by a ligand introduction route. The neutral tBu-PhBidine-PdCl complex demonstrated significant catalytic activity for the reaction of nitroalkenes with malononitrile to give the products in good yields with high enantioselectivities. On the contrary, the cationic chiral imidazolidine-containing tBu-PhBidine-PdOTf catalyst promoted the nucleophilic addition of unprotected indoles to N-Boc imines. Using sulfinyl amines as the N-Boc imine precursors, the combined use of catalyst with K2CO3 activated the N-H-free indoles to give chiral 3-indolyl methanamines with up to 98% ee. Compared with conventional acid-catalyzed Friedel-Crafts reactions, this reaction proceeding under mildly basic conditions shows advantages for the use of acid-sensitive substrates. Furthermore, chiral bis(imidazolidine)-containing PhBidine-Rhodium complexes (PhBidine-RhX2 and tBu-PhBidine-RhX2) were prepared by a C-H insertion method. The tBu-PhBidine-Rh(OAc)2 smoothly catalyzed an asymmetric Mannich reaction of malononitrile with N-Boc imines to give products, which are useful for the synthesis of chiral α-amino acids.
