閉経期後又は老年性骨粗鬆症の原因は複雑であり, 現代までに, 内分泌的, 栄養的, 物理的, 遺伝的等の諸因子が考えられたが, 免疫学的因子は未だ検討されていない. しかしながら, 骨粗鬆症が, 多くの膠原病や自己免疫疾患と同様に, 女性に多いこと, 又免疫異常の起り易い老年に多いこと, 自己免疫疾患として有名な慢性関節リウマチで, 関節周囲に骨粗鬆症様の変化が見られること, 更に骨粗鬆症では, 骨の吸収と形成してアンバランスが見られるが, 骨の吸収の主体である破骨細胞は, マクロファージ起源であるともいわれ, リンフォカインの一種であるOAFによって, その活性が刺激される等の現象は, 骨粗鬆症の原因の一つに, 免疫異常があることを, 疑わせるのに充分である.加齢とともに細胞免疫の一つの指標であるツベルクリン反応は陰性のものが多くなり, ことに骨粗鬆症を示すものでは, 示さないものよりも同年齢でも陰性者の率が高く, 又ツベルクリン陰性者は陽性者に比べて, 橈骨の鉱質合量が低下している. 末梢総リンパ球数及びTリンパ球数には, 骨粗鬆症患者と骨粗鬆症を有しないものの間に差はないが, OKT4/OKT8 (ヘルパー/サプレッサー) 比は, 骨粗鬆症患者では骨粗鬆症を有しないものに比べて, 高値を示す. 0.5μg/日の1α(OH)ビタミンD3を投与すると, 骨粗鬆症患者におけるツベルクリン反応は陽転するものが多く, 又, OKT4/OKT8比は低下する. これらの所見から, 骨粗鬆症にはある種の免疫異常, ことに細胞性免疫の低下が存在すると思われるが, その病態生理学的意義は, 今後の検討を要する.

We examined the pharmacological profile of ramosetron, a 5-HT3-receptor antagonist for irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea, comparing it with those of other 5-HT3-receptor antagonists, alosetron and cilansetron, and the anti-diarrheal agent loperamide. Ramosetron showed high affinity for cloned human and rat 5-HT3 receptors, with Ki values of 0.091 ± 0.014 and 0.22 ± 0.051 nmol/L, respectively, while its affinities for other receptors, transporters, ion channels, and enzymes were negligible. Dissociation of ramosetron from the human 5-HT3 receptor was extremely slow (t1/2 = 560 min), while alosetron (t1/2 = 180 min) and cilansetron (t1/2 = 88 min) dissociated relatively rapidly. Ramosetron competitively inhibited 5-HT-induced contraction of isolated guinea-pig colon, with pA2 values of 8.6 (8.5 – 9.0). Ramosetron given orally also dose-dependently inhibited the von Bezold-Jarisch reflex in rats, with an ED50 value of 1.2 (0.93 – 1.6) μg/kg. In addition, oral ramosetron dose-dependently inhibited restraint stress-induced defecation in rats, with an ED50 value of 0.62 (0.17 – 1.2) μg/kg. In all of these experiments, the potencies of ramosetron were greater than those of alosetron, cilansetron, or loperamide. These results indicate that ramosetron is a highly potent and selective 5-HT3-receptor antagonist, with beneficial effects against stress-induced abnormal defecation in rats.

我々は、骨破壊を伴う重症リウマチ性関節炎(RA)患者腸骨骨髄における著しい好中球造血の亢進とその好中球による骨破壊の可能性を示した。また、破骨細胞による骨吸収を強力に抑制するaminobisphosphonate(ABP)をコラーゲン誘導関節炎マウスに投与しても骨破壊が抑倒されないことも見いだしている。そこで、好中球による骨破壊の可能性を詳細に検討する目的で、コラーゲン誘導関節炎マウスにABPを投与した時の破骨細胞によらない骨吸収機構を好中球の動態を中心に検索すると共に顆粒球と骨との共培養による骨破壊についても検索を行った。ABP投与群・非投与群共に骨破壊を伴う関節炎が認められ、ABP非投与群に比してABP投与群では炎症が悪化する傾同にあった。骨破壊部位を観察すると、ABP非投与群では多数の酸性フォスファターゼ(ACP)強陽性の破骨細胞が骨表層に認められるのに対し、ABP投与群では破骨細胞は少数存在するもののACP活性は弱く、また骨表面から遊離していた。骨破壊部位には顆粒球が集積し、超微形態学的に骨表面に集積する好中球のrupture、細胞内顆粒の骨周辺への散在、コラーゲン線維が消失が認められた。好中球と骨との共培養系では、in vivo同様骨基質からのコラーゲン線維の消失が認められ、好中球の持つMMP-2,9やelastaseに対する阻害剤添加実験でコラーゲン線維消失が抑制されることが明らかとなった。以上の結果から、骨破壊に好中球が直接関与することが示された。

Recreational use of dog walkers in urban open space is one of the concerned issues by managers. There are complains from other visitors, such as unpicked feces, unleashed dogs, or threatening children. In this study, three different types of urban open space were chosen, then dog walkers' behaviors and their attitudes were surveyed. In the public park, dog walkers and other visitors were sharing same space and time. In the dog run, dog walkers took their dogs a few times a week, and let them run freely. In the exterior of one public facility, dog walkers took their dogs frequently to let them run freely. Consequently, this public space was used as if a dog run. To prevent the conflict between dog walkers and other visitors, manner training and some rules are needed, and besides various types of open spaces should be offered.

アサ会は、1930年代、独立伝道者であった田中遵聖(たなか・じゅんせい、本名種助[1886-1958]、以後田中)によって始められたキリスト教運動で、現在の日本バプテスト連盟の前身にあたる日本浸礼派教会西部組合(以後西部組合)に大きな衝撃を与えた。西部組合とは、当時九州に点在していた南部バプテストの流れを汲む諸教会が伝道協力のために組織した団体である。アサ会の存在は、いわゆる「アサ会事件」として教会関係者の間で憶えられているが、その影響は実に西南学院にまで及び、第三代院長G.W.ボールデン(以後ボールデン)の解任を惹き起こした。これについて『西南学院七十年史』は「院長となったボールデンを決定的な窮地に追いこんだのは、『アサ会』事件である」と記し、ボールデンの院長辞任をアサ会との関係で伝えている(『西南学院七十年史』上巻612頁)。本学神学部卒業生のバプテスト史研究者枝光泉は、この「アサ会事件」を「1930年代の初頭にあって、『一教会の独立を認め、他の誰にも干渉されない(バプテスト派の)原則』からは離れていた西部組合が、ミッション依存の体質から抜け出し、歩み出そうとしたときに起った象徴的出来事」と説明している(『宣教の先駆者たち』、240頁)。枝光が指摘するように、「アサ会事件」が優れて教会関係の出来事であるならば、なぜそれが西南学院院長の辞職と結び付けて語られるのだろうか。アサ会に関する研究は、ほとんどなされていないと言っても過言ではない。関連文献も皆無に等しい。強いて挙げれば、田中の息子である直木賞作家田中小実昌(1925-2000)が、『アメン父』で田中とアサ会についてノンフィクション風にその様子を伝えている(因みに、小実昌はこの本で1979年の谷崎潤一郎賞を受賞した)。研究文献に値するものとしては、辛うじて、『日本バプテスト連盟史1889‐1959』(日本バプテスト連盟)、『西南学院七十年史』、枝光の『宣教の先駆者たち』(ヨルダン社、2001年)のみであろう。特に枝光の研究は、現存する唯一の邦文学術研究として貴重である。本稿ではこれら文献から学びつつ、ボールデンの自叙伝(英文、未刊行)、複数の宣教師による活動報告、個人書簡、日記、当時の高等学部教員波多野培根が残した文書を用いて、ボールデンの院長解任から見えてくる西南学院とアサ会の関係を探り、そこから透けて見える学院史の一端を見てみたい。

To evaluate the suitability of the DC withstand test for use as the after-laying test for extrahigh-voltage XLPE cable lines, especially 500-kV XLPE cable lines, we studied the effectiveness of the DC withstand test and the influence of DC voltage application on AC insulating performance, using XLPE cables with artificial defects. DC breakdown strength of the cable with defects does not decrease radically compared with AC breakdown strength due to space charge effects. The defects that are detected by the AC withstand test might not be detected by the DC withstand test and short-circuited trees may appear at earthing after the DC withstand test, degrading the AC insulating performance. The DC withstand test should therefore not be used as the after-laying test for 500-kV XLPE cable lines.

A translation test is one of the most common reading test methods in Japan, although its reliability and validity have been quite controversial. This study investigated the reliability and validity of translation tests as a measure of reading comprehension in Japanese university entrance examinations, with a particular focus on two research questions: (a) In terms of reliability, what types of translation materials cause difference in rating severity? (b) In terms of validity, what types of sentence can make great differences between translation and comprehension tasks? In order to examine the first research question, four experienced teachers scored English-to-Japanese translations made by 102 university students. Results showed that rating divergence is attributable to raters' different points of scoring (holistic vs. partial), and raters' leniency for inappropriate Japanese expressions or careless mistakes. The second research question was examined by administering 18 sets of translation and reading comprehension tasks to the same participants as above. Results showed that 4 out of 18 English sentences used in Japanese university entrance examinations were considered to be inappropriate as materials for translation tasks when examinees' reading comprehension was intended to be measured.
