Based on the recently developed <i>Gitaigo</i> personality scale (Komatsu, Sakai, Nishioka, & Mukoyama, 2012), we investigated the relationship between perceived personality and leading/following roles in close friend dyads. Primary participants rated their own and one of their close friend's personality with <i>Gitaigo</i> personality scale. They also described who takes the role of leader in the relationship with the friend they rated. When one in the pair is reported as leader, the other is considered as follower. Subsidiary participants who were cited as close friends rated their own personality. Our analysis of the 215 pairs showed that the participants taking the role of follower were rated higher in the traits of Cowardliness and Mildness by the primary participants. Regarding Mildness, this tendency was also clear in subsidiary participants' self-ratings. Primary participants rated the Preciseness and Candidness of their friends lower if their friend was considered a follower. <i>Gitaigo</i> personality scale describes the perceived personality well, at least for several traits.

An oxygen supply method to wastewater using gas permeable film in the form of tube was investigated for the purpose of reducing energy consumption for supplying oxygen. Oxygen transfer rate was measured in the case with or without biofilm, which proved the high rate of oxygen transfer with nitrifying biofilm supplied with ammonium substrate. Simultaneous nitrification and denitrification occurred, when the tube with nitrifying biofilm was applied to the treatment of wastewater, resulting in the high rate of organic matter removal. However, periodic sloughing of denitrifying biofilm which formed on the nitrifying biofilm was needed to keep the oxygen transfer rate high. Energy comsumptiom of the process using this tube was calculated to be less than 40% of that of the activated sluge process.

Mass-information media such as guidebooks, novels, movies, and TV dramas present images of tourist areas. This research aims to investigate changes in the content of one guidebook series concerning Mt. Fuji. Mt. Fuji offers many tourist attractions, including climbing the mountain, viewing it, and shopping in its vicinity. The content featured over the 20 years during which the guidebook series has been published is divided into four periods, which are characterised as follows: sightseeing period (1st period: 1995), leisure and activity period (2nd period: 1996 to 1999), climbing period (3rd period: 2000 to 2008), and climbing and general activities period (4th period: 2009 to 2014). During the 1st period, the word “resort” was important in the guidebooks' content, crafting an image of Mt. Fuji tourism that was led by a resort boom in Japan. The words “leisure,” “history,” and “nature” acquired significance in the 2nd period, when content concerning some activities increased in the guidebooks against the background of a connection between tourism and regional promotion. Guidebooks of the 3rd period heavily used imagery of climbing to characterise Mt. Fuji tourism, with the words “entrance” and “climbing” appearing frequently. This period coincided with a generational transition among climbers, during which there was an increase in Japan of younger climbers and female climbers. During the 4th period, climbing remained the most significant topic of the guidebooks; however, words related to recent Japanese tourism topics, such as “B-grade” “gourmet” “local” and “holy place” took important positions alongside the topic of climbing, because B-grade gourmet products within the Mt. Fuji region such as pan-fried noodles in Fujinomiya city became famous during the 2000s. As a whole, the content of the tourism guidebooks over the years illustrates changes in perceptions of Mt. Fuji from diverse and general images of leisure and pleasure to specific images of climbing.

尿検査は, 概ね患者に苦痛を与えることなく検体採取が可能であり, 分析機器の発達により簡便かつ短時間で多くの情報を得ることができる検査である。 しかし, 保存状況で尿成分は変化しやすく, 採尿後速やかな検査実施が原則であるが, 入院患者の場合採取から検査実施まで数時間経過している場合がある。その背景には, 採尿時間が不規則なため, 速やかに検査室に提出されない現状に起因する。 そこで, 特定条件下で実際に患者尿を用い, 経時的変化・規則性について検討した。 さらに, 尿中に高頻度に検出される腸内細菌 (大腸菌・プロテウス菌) が尿糖に及ぼす影響と亜硝酸塩反応の変化についても検討したので報告する。 結果, 尿検査に影響するような生理的・病的成分を含有する尿ほど経時的変化は著明であった。保存が必要な時は, 蓋付容器で冷蔵保存が望ましい。また, 尿中の大腸菌とプロテウス菌では, 解糖作用・亜硝酸還元反応の経時的変化に大きな差が認められた。

本論は、昭和期に内地で広まった郷土教育運動を背景に、「外地」樺太における郷土研究・郷土教育の活動をまとめた。内 地では、文部省により昭和五年度からの十二年度までに、師範学校への研究設備施設費の補助や、講習会の開催が実施され、 民間団体の郷土教育連盟による普及啓発が、各地の学校、教職員に影響を与えた。そこには、明治期からの地方(郷土)研 究の実績を教育への実践に取り入れ、郷土愛からの愛国心涵養の目的があった。「外地」である樺太は、教育行政を樺太庁が担っており、文部省の補助は適用されていないが、教職員は独自の郷土教育活動を模索している。他の「外地」が、郷土教育において重要視された「地域性」と、愛国心涵養を目指した「同化」との矛盾を抱えているのに対し、住民の九割以上が日本人(内地人)である樺太では、内地と同じく日本人子弟を対象とした教育政策がとられていた。だが、日本人移民の入植が広がることで新に社会が形成された樺太には、内地のような「郷土史」や、郷土研究の蓄積を有しておらず、郷土教育では樺太の「郷土像」を作り上げることが課題となる。本論は、第一節で樺太における郷土研究と郷土教育の活動についてまとめ、第二節では郷土教育の教授方法の一つである「郷土読本」について、編纂の記録や残された資料を事例に取り上げた。第三節では郷土史としての樺太史の研究と顕彰、教育への導入について、豊原中学校・樺太庁師範学校の校長となった上田光の発言、事績から、「郷土像」の形成過程を考察している。
