標識放鳥,死体拾得,保護飼育されたヨタカ6個体をもとに,春季における齢の識別点と換羽様式について検討した.春季には成鳥も幼鳥も同様に,初列大雨覆と尾羽に新羽と旧羽が混在するが,幼鳥では旧羽が幼羽であり,旧羽も成鳥羽である成鳥と容易に識別できることがわかった.また,秋と春の換羽状況から,本種の換羽様式は,繁殖地と越冬地で風切と尾羽の一部ずつを換羽する,変則的なものであると考えられる.

「金網看板」とは方形の木枠に金網を張り、金網の中央に木を切抜いた文字を付着 した独特な形式の看板である。大正期から昭和初期にかけて都市部を中心として 店舗の庇の上に掲げられたが、現在見かける数は少なくなった。 本稿では「金網看板」の意匠的特質について考察する。

Deep neural networks are highly nonlinear hierarchical systems. Statistical neurodynamics studies macroscopic behaviors of randomly connected neural networks. We consider a deep feedforward network where input signals are processed layer by layer. The manifold of input signals is embedded in a higher dimensional manifold of the next layer as a curved submanifold, provided the number of neurons is larger than that of inputs. We show geometrical features of the embedded manifold, proving that the manifold enlarges or shrinks locally isotropically so that it is always embedded conformally. We study the curvature of the embedded manifold. The scalar curvature converges to a constant or diverges to infinity slowly. The distance between two signals also changes, converging eventually to a stable fixed value, provided both the number of neurons in a layer and the number of layers tend to infinity. This causes a problem: When we consider a curve in the input space, it is mapped as a continuous curve of fractal nature, but our theory contradictorily suggests that the curve eventually converges to a discrete set of equally spaced points. In reality, the numbers of neurons and layers are finite and thus, it is expected that the finite size effect causes the discrepancies between our theory and reality. Further studies are necessary to understand their implications on information processing.

This study conducted diel vertical migration and active migration flux estimation of macrozooplanktonic amphipods and euphausiids at 0-250 m water column of the three stations in the western North Pacific during summer. For amphipods, 25 species belonging to 17 genera were identified. Their standing stock was 60-574 ind. m−2 during the daytime and 35-5,228 ind. m−2 at night-time. For euphausiids, 19 species belonging to 7 genera were identified. The standing stock of euphausiids was 80-382 ind. m−2 and 286-2,156 ind. m−2 during the day and at night, respectively. Feeding impacts during the night were estimated to be 0.19-11.76 mg C m−2 day−1 (amphipods) and 5.12-16.42 mg C m−2 day−1 (euphausiids). Respiration during the daytime accounted for 0.08-6.38 mg C m−2 day−1 (amphipods) and 2.33-7.70 mg C m−2 day−1 (euphausiids). The feeding impact and respiratory flux by active migration of macrozooplankton taxa were estimated as 8.34-28.18 mg C m−2 day−1 and 3.15-14.08 mg C m−2 day−1, respectively. These values corresponded to 3.7-12.4% of primary production (feeding impact) and 2.4-10.7% of sinking passive flux from the euphotic zone (respiratory flux). Thus, this study emphasizes the importance of active flux by macrozooplankton for vertical material flux in the western North Pacific.

In this paper, a 32-bit RISC-V microcontroller in a 65-nm Silicon-On-Thin-BOX (SOTB) chip is presented. The system is developed based on the VexRiscv Central Processing Unit (CPU) with the Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) extensions of RV32IM. Besides the core processor, the System-on-Chip (SoC) contains 8KB of boot ROM, 64KB of on-chip memory, UART controller, SPI controller, timer, and GPIOs for LEDs and switches. The 8KB of boot ROM has 7KB of hard-code in combinational logics and 1KB of a stack in SRAM. The proposed SoC performs the Dhrystone and Coremark benchmarks with the results of 1.27 DMIPS/MHz and 2.4 Coremark/MHz, respectively. The layout occupies 1.32-mm2 of die area, which equivalents to 349,061 of NAND2 gate-counts. The 65-nm SOTB process is chosen not only because of its low-power feature but also because of the back-gate biasing technique that allows us to control the microcontroller to favor the low-power or the high-performance operations. The measurement results show that the highest operating frequency of 156-MHz is achieved at 1.2-V supply voltage (VDD) with +1.6-V back-gate bias voltage (VBB). The best power density of 33.4-µW/MHz is reached at 0.5-V VDD with +0.8-V VBB. The least current leakage of 3-nA is retrieved at 0.5-V VDD with -2.0-V VBB.

There are three folding screens of the "Wind and Thunder Gods" created by three Rimpa school masters: Sotatsu Tawaraya, Korin Ogata (1658-1716) and Hoitsu Sakai (1761-1828). In the exhibition 'The National Treasure Screens of the Art of Rimpa' at the Idemitsu Museum in 2004, it was proven that the outlines of Sotatsu's and Korin's versions of the folding screen are almost the same. This gives an impression that Korin traced Sotatsu's work. However, by comparing both screens, I found out that Korin's work differs from Sotatsu's at several points. In this paper, I will present other possibilities of copying outlines other than by tracing, and I will examine how Korin created his work by comparing the details of both folding screens. Lastly, I will present a new way of looking at Korin's work, in that he did not merely trace Sotatsu's work. Instead, he may have used a preparatory drawing or a tracing outline prepared by another person, among other reasons to produce his own interpretation of the "Wind and Thunder Gods" folding screen.

We examined the relationship between the starch content of potato and its cooking quality. Potato tubers were assigned according to their starch content from 12% to 16%. They were cooked by different methods and a sensory evaluation then carried out. In the case of boiling, steaming, frying and heating in a microwave oven, potato with the high starch content (HS) was evaluated as having a richer and more mealy feeling and better taste than potato with the low starch content (LS). On the other hand, in curry and nikujaga (pototo stewed with pork), LS was evaluated to be better than HS because of less collapse after cooking. In potato salad, HS was evaluated more highly than LS in taste only by the manufacturers' panel. The glutamic acid content was particularly low in potato tubers with a starch content of 15% and above.

顎関節症のリスク因子には,外傷,解剖学的因子,病態生理学的因子,心理社会学的因子など多くのものがあることが知られており,そのうち単一の因子,あるいは複数の因子の複合によって発症するものと考えられる。すなわち,顎関節症の原因は患者によって異なっており,生物心理社会学的モデル(biopsychosocial model)の枠組みのなかで,病歴聴取を含む臨床的診察や検査結果を基に,目の前の患者ごとにそれらの複数のリスク因子のなかから推定されるべきである。咬合因子の顎関節症発症における役割について論じた質の高い文献は依然少ないものの,それらの文献は,咬合因子は顎関節症発症のリスク因子の一つにすぎず,咬合が発症の最重要因子となっている症例は決して多くはないというエビデンスを一致して示している。このことは,不可逆的治療である咬合治療は顎関節症の治療法の第一選択ではなく,保存療法,可逆療法を優先すべきであるというメッセージをわれわれに伝えている。

日本ではウミスズメは北海道天売島の海食崖でのみ少数が繁殖する.緊急の保全策が必要にも拘わらず,保護増殖事業は未だ策定されていない.ウミスズメの野外調査が困難なため,保全管理に必要な生態・遺伝情報を得ることができなかったためである.しかし,2016年に営巣地付近で30羽のウミスズメの血液が採取され,天売島繁殖個体群の遺伝的特性の推定が可能になった.ミトコンドリアDNA分析では,天売島個体群とアリューシャン列島個体群は共通のハプロタイプをもっていたが,他の繁殖個体群とはハプロタイプを共有していなかった.この結果は,両個体群は異なる単位で保全管理される必要があることを示している.天売島個体群は,アリューシャン列島個体群と遺伝子流動は活発であり,遺伝的多様性が低いことを示す証拠は無かった.私たちは,天売島個体群の効果的な保全のために,営巣地の保全による管理を提案する.日本近海はウミスズメの越冬場所として重要な海域であり,より広域的な保全管理が必要だろう.

Postoperative arrhythmias are a frequent and fatal complication after the Fontan operation. However, clinical evidence demonstrating early postoperative arrhythmias in children undergoing the Fontan operation is limited. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of arrhythmias and identify the predictors of early postoperative supraventricular tachyarrhythmias (SVTs) after the Fontan procedure.Data were analyzed from 80 pediatric patients who underwent Fontan procedures between April 2000 and December 2017 in a single-center retrospective study. Early postoperative SVTs were defined as arrhythmias within 30 days after the Fontan procedure. We divided the patients into two groups, with or without early postoperative arrhythmias, and the predictors of early postoperative arrhythmias were analyzed. A multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to determine independent predictors of early postoperative SVTs after the Fontan procedure.Early postoperative SVTs were observed in 21 patients (26.3%). The most common arrhythmia was junctional ectopic tachycardia. After an adjustment, an atrioventricular valve regurgitation (AVVR) grade of ≥2 (odds ratio 10.54, 95% confidence interval 2.52 to 44.17, P = 0.001) and preoperative arrhythmias (odds ratio 26.49, 95% confidence interval 1.64 to 428.62, P = 0.021) were significant predictors of early postoperative SVTs after the Fontan operation.An AVVR grade ≥2 and preoperative arrhythmia were significant predictors associated with early postoperative SVTs. Intervention for AVVR may provide clinical benefit for preventing early postoperative arrhythmias after the Fontan operation.
