During the fourteen years that Lafcadio Hearn alias Koizumi Yakumolived in Japan (Meiji 23-37, 1890-1904), his attitude toward nationalismunderwent a profound change. Before his arrival in Japan the only kindof nationalism evinced in his writings was in the gentle tradition of theold romantic Herderian school, a purely cultural nationalism?morespecifically, a nostalgic attachment to “dying” folk cultures such as those ofthe American and Caribbean Creoles. But his encounter with Meiji Japanturned him into an aggressive modern state nationalist, to the extent eventhat he adopted the Japanese cause against China and Russia. How canwe account for this dramatic transformation? On the one hand, it seemsobvious that the atmosphere of rising nationalism in late Meiji Japan hada profound impact on Hearn. But I would also argue that Hearn’s pre-Japan immersion in the Herderian struggle to save or at least memorialize“dying cultures” laid the ground for his “conversion” to an aggressive formof modern state nationalism vis-?-vis Japan, which at that time, like theCreole nations writ large, seemed threatened with cultural extinction.

The report describes orthodontic treatment of a 24- year 11 months old female patient with skeletal mandibular protrusion and large lower facial height.The facial profile was concave type because of the mandibular overgrowth. The maxillary incisors were labially inclined and the molar relationship was Angle Class III. This patient was diagnosed as having mandibular protrusion and large lower facial height. After extraction of the maxillary first premolars, 0.018 inch pre−adjusted edgewise brackets were placed to treat the compensated upper incisor inclination and minor crowding. Orthognathic surgery , sagittal splitting ramus osteotomy, was performed at 26 years 10months and genioplasty was performed at the removal of mini−plate fixation of the mandible at 27 years 8 months. After post−surgical orthodontic treatment, the facial profile was significantly improved, and an acceptable occlusion was achieved. No relapse was observed after two years of retention.

携帯電話網に代表されるように,近年インターネットへのアクセス手段が多様化しており,それにともなって外出先からのリモートアクセスのニーズが高まっている.このような場合によく使用される手段の 1 つに SSH があるが,パスワード管理の甘さを利用しようとする SSH への攻撃は後を絶たない.そこで,SSH サーバへの攻撃を防止するとともに,攻撃者の活動を観察可能とするため,OpenFlow と SSH ハニーポットを利用した攻撃防止手法を提案する.本手法は,SSH サーバに対するアクセスパターンを調べることによって攻撃を検出し,攻撃者からのアクセスを SSH ハニーポットへと誘導する.

The waters of the Zāyandeh-rūd in Esfahān had traditionally been distributed among some 500 villages of seven irrigation districts through 105 madis, or main irrigation channels. In the Safavid period, however, a Royal order was proclaimed to abolish the customary water distribution systems and replace them with new regulations. Under the Qājārs, the regulation was altered by certain powerful individuals.The new regulation of the Safavids, known to be drawn up by Sheikh Bahā’ī of Amilī, a distinguished scholar at the court of Shāh ʻAbbās, was intended to gain a monopoly over the river’s summer irrigation water for the rice cultivation in four districts, in which the Crown lands were concentrated. Naturally, this caused the devastation of three other districts when their water supply was stopped.Furthermore, under the Qājār, with the rapid development of the reclamation of lands, the Safavid’s regulation was arbitrarily altered by such influential personages as the Crown Prince Zill al-Soltān, leading mojtaheds and large landlords at the ruinous, selfish sacrifice of the weak.This paper aims to illustrate one of the characteristic features of the land holding system of Iran through examining how irrigation water had been controlled by men of power.

本論は、一九三一年に公開された無声映画『殉教血史 日本二十六聖人』(日活太秦撮影所、池田富安監督)を取り上げ、一九三〇年代前半期日本カトリック教会の一動向を明らかにすることを目的としている。この映画作品は、十六世紀末、豊臣秀吉の命で、長崎で処刑された外国人神父や日本人信者ら二十六人の殉教者をめぐるものである。長崎出身のカトリック信者で、朝鮮在住の資産家であった平山政十が、この映画の製作を企画し、彼の資金出資のもとに制作された。作品は日本で一般公開されたのち、平山個人によって北米と西欧諸国に、海外興行が試みられている。
