Japanese names are a useful tool for Japanese speakers to communicate scientifically about birds. However, over 35 years have already passed since the most influential book treating Japanese names for all modern birds (Yamashina 1986) was published. During that time, the classification of birds has undergone major changes. Here we provide a revised list of Japanese names for species of flufftails (Sarothruridae) and rails (Rallidae), which adopts the latest classification system (Gill et al. 2022).

This paper describes an oblique feed screw which can be used as load-sensitive continuously variable transmission (CVT). This CVT consists of a screw, spring, and bearing, and is remarkably simple and compact. Its reduction ratio change automatically in response to the load. We have developed the CVT of 13.8 [g]. We have experimentally verified that it can exert a very strong force of more than 100 [N], and the CVT can increase its reduction ratio form 20 to 45.

本科研では、ガージャール朝(1796~1925)末期~パフラヴィー朝期(1925~1979)初頭の近代イラン、特にイラン立憲革命(1905~11)と第一次世界大戦(1914~18)を経た1910~1920年代の女性教育推進を訴える女性運動について、現在に至るまでの社会の変容も考慮に入れつつ考察した。『結婚と離婚』『イランの歴史を知るための50章(仮)』『教養の中東イスラーム近現代史(仮)』『(アカデミー外国語映画賞受賞イラン映画)セールスマン(公式プログラム)』『大学事典』の執筆、日本中東学会公開講演会、イラン大使館や川崎市民アカデミーなどでの講演、科研に関わる研究会での報告を行った。

Recently Volatile corrosion inhibitor (V.C.I.) is applied in all circles to the prevention of corrosion of the iron and steel materials on vapour and liquid phases. Experiments have been made on the anticorrosive effect of the V.C.I. for boilers which are at rest or cleaned with acid. The results of the experiments come to the next conclusions. (1) The suitable concentration of V.C.I. in the liquid phase is 100 mg/l and V.C.I. of more than 100 mg/l is not more efficacious. (2) V,C.I. of 100 mg/l concentration have nearly the same effect as NaOH of 300 mg/l. (3) After the acid cleaning, the boilers must be washed well with NaOH solution and water, and V.C.I. should be used in vapour or liquid phase.

漢方薬が原因と推定された劇症肝炎の1例を経験した.症例は62歳男性.痔核治療のため漢方薬(金鵄丸)の服用を開始したところ,6週間後に倦怠感と尿濃染が出現した.服用中止により一旦症状の消失をみたが,服薬再開後5週間で上記症状が再出現,黄疸の出現をみ入院となった.凝固能低下が著明で(PT 28%, HPT 19%),種々の治療にもかかわらず,4週間後多臓器不全の状態で死亡した.剖検肝は495gと萎縮著明で,肝組織像は広範性肝壊死を示した.金鵄丸による薬剤性肝炎は本例を含め9例が報告されている.その特徴は,金鵄丸が原因との認識が遅れたため反復服用により肝炎の繰り返しをみる例が多いこと,発疹,好酸球増多がみられないことであった.本例は,漢方薬により劇症肝炎を来した初めての報告である.漢方薬の使用が増加しているおり,漢方薬によっても本例のごとき重症肝障害が惹起されうることに注意すべきである.

コロナ禍が終末期の在宅療養に与えた影響や遺族満足度などについて検討することを本活動の目的とした.当院で訪問診療を受けていた居宅終末期がん患者のうち,在宅で看取った100名の遺族を対象にアンケート調査を行い,コロナ禍が在宅療養に与えた影響,遺族満足度などについて検討した.回答率は72.0%で,52.8%の遺族が在宅療養の選択にコロナ禍が影響したと回答した.遺族満足度は98.6%であり,当院でコロナ禍に在宅療養を選択した終末期がん患者に対しても,高い遺族満足度が達成できていた.

本発表では、ウィーン世界博物館に所蔵されているハインリッヒ・フォン・シーボルト(1852-1908)のアイヌ・コレクション(約80点)について報告する。発表では、彼のアイヌ・コレクションの特徴と、その特徴を形づくった要因について検討するとともに、彼の北海道調査の旅程の一部を共にしたり、道中で出会ったりした2人の外国人による記述を読み合わせることから見えてくる1878年当時の状況についても検討する。

0.1% NH2OH (2.5 ml), 5 N HCl (2.5 ml) and 1% m-aminophenol solution (1 ml) were added to unsaturated fatty acid methyl enters (10 mg), and the mixture was heated in a boiling water bath at 100°C for 20 min. The reaction mixtures were measured for their fluorescence intensity at Ex. 356 nm and Em. 505 nm, and the amounts of acrolein formed were determined from its calibration curve. Methyl linolenate oxidized for 20 h at 80°C, 2258.2μg/g of acrolein were formed, whereas 208.1μg/g of malondialdehyde were determined by the thiobarbituric acid method. Thus the determination of acrolein in oxidized lipid may have some fundamental significance for the evaluation of lipid oxidation. It was of interest that acrolein is formed not only from glycerin and triglyceride but also from unsaturated fatty acids by their autoxidation.

In 1997, Phytophthora rot caused serious losses to ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) production in Kochi Prefecture, Japan. In the field in early summer and autumn, water-soaked rot on basal pseudostems and brown rot on rhizomes were first observed, then plants developed stem blight. The disease also developed on rhizomes stored at 15°C in the dark. A Phytophthora sp. was consistently isolated from the symptomatic lesions and caused the same symptoms after inoculation with the isolates. The identical Phytophthora sp. was then reisolated. White stellate colonies grew on PDA at a minimum temperature of 10°C, optimum of 23°C and maximum of 30°C. Sporangia were ovoid, ellipsoid, globose and distorted (variable) with one or two apices, noncaducous, 30–90 × 20–50 (average 50.0–56.1 × 25.0–32.6) μm, with a length to breadth ratio of 1.5–1.7:1. Nucleotide sequence of the r-DNA ITS regions agreed well with those of Phytophthora citrophthora (R. E. Smith and E. H. Smith) Leonian previously reported. Based on these results, the isolate was identified as P. citrophthora. This report is the first of a disease of ginger caused by P. citrophthora, and we propose the name “Phytophthora rot” for the disease.

K-line(+/-/+)型OPLL症例に対し,椎弓形成術(LMP)に局所固定を最大圧迫高位レベルに追加する術式(sPDF)は有用であるかどうか調査するためにLMP群とsPDF群の術後成績を傾向スコアマッチング法にて比較検討した.全29症例中,それぞれ7例ずつマッチングした.JOA改善率と獲得点数はsPDF群で有意に高く,術後成績は改善していた.K-line(+/-/+)症例に対し,椎弓形成術に局所固定を最大圧迫高位レベルに追加する方法は有用な術式であると思われる.
