Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is a syndrome of increased intracranial pressure and presents as an intractable headache, vomiting, and ophthalmologic manifestations. We herein report the case of a young girl who presented with bilateral abducens nerve palsy due to IIH as the onset of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The patient was successfully treated with corticosteroid therapy. Our case lacked the typical symptoms of IIH, such as headache or nausea; therefore, it is necessary to carefully determine the cause of bilateral abducens nerve palsies. The development of IIH in SLE patients is a rare occurrence, but this manifestation should not be overlooked.

1947年から2009年までに実施された参議院選挙について、個々の選挙が実施された背景、各党の立候補者の数や選挙出場回数、当該選挙時の世論調査の状況と事前予測、選挙の投票率と都市部と農村部の投票率の違いについて分析を行った。さらに、選挙の結果については、各党の得票数、得票率、獲得議席数と議席率などについて、地方区(または選挙区)と全国区(比例区)とに分けて、特に前々回との比較や地域別傾向を分析した。参議院選挙は、衆議院選挙に比べて、第一党への集中度が大きくなく、その結果として、参議院は衆議院に対して、「抑制と均衡」の機能を果たしてきたことが明らかとなった。

In systems ranging from mobile devices to servers, Dynamic Random Access Memories (DRAM) have a big impact on performance and contributes a significant part of the total consumed power. Conventional DDR3-based solutions are stretched thin as their maximum bandwidth is limited by the I/O count and interface speed. As new solutions are coming onto the market (JEDEC DDR4, JEDEC WIDE I/O, Micron's hybrid memory cube: HMC or JEDEC's high bandwidth memory: HBM) it is critical to evaluate the performance of these solutions and assess their suitability for specific applications. Furthermore, in systems with 3D stacking, the challenges of high power densities and thermal dissipation are exacerbated. It is crucial to have a flexible and holistic DRAM subsystem framework for exhaustive design space explorations, which can handle all this different types of memories, as well as the aspects of performance, power and temperature.

シベリアの水禽営巣地ならびに北海道で採取した野鳥の糞便からインフルエンザウイルスを分離し、シベリアに営巣する水禽が様々なHA亜型のインフルエンザウイルスを保持していることを明らかにした。NPならびにH5HA遺伝子の系統進化解析の結果、1997年に香港のヒトとニワトリから分離された強毒H5N1インフルエンザウイルスの起源がこれらの水禽類にあることが判った。したがって、今後ヒトの間に侵入する新型ウイルスのHA亜型を予測するため、シベリア、アジアを含む広範な地域で鳥類インフルエンザの疫学調査を実施する必要がある。北海道のカモから分離した弱毒H5N4ウイルスを用いて強毒H5N1ウイルス感染に対するワクチンを試製し、これが有効であることを示した。そこで、疫学調査で分離されるウイルスは新型ウイルス出現に備え、ワクチン株として系統保存する計画を提案した(日米医学協力研究会2000、厚生省1999)。中国南部のブタにおける抗体調査の結果から、H5ウイルスの感染は少なくとも1977年から散発的に起こっていたことが判明した。一方、H9ウイルスは1983年以降に中国南部のブタに侵入し、その後ブタの間で流行を繰り返していることが判った。

外務省は2001年度、1994年から日本政府にイニシアティブでスタートしたGII (=Global IssuesInitiative on Population and AIDS) が2001年3月で終了したことを受け、プログラム評価を実施した。その一環で、官民連携によって現場レベルに与えたインパクトと日本国内に与えた影響について評価調査を試みた。<BR>官民連携のコンセプトは長年言われ続けてきたが、その過程で官民連携に留まらず、開発協力に従事する様々な関係者が連携しあうネットワークの出現を中心として、新しい動きがみられるようになった。GIIでみられた官民連携や他のドナーとの連携を中心とする様々な試みが、他の分野においても実践されつつある。<BR>1994年以降の政策レベルおよび現場レベルの双方での実践を振り返り分析し、「連携」を鍵に好事例の抽出を行うと同時に、課題点・問題点を検証し、今後の「連携」のあり方に対する提案を行う。

アルバン・ベルク(1885-1935)は,シェーンベルク,ヴェーベルンとならび,今世紀初頭に活躍した第二ヴィーン楽派のひとりである。20世紀初頭の作曲家たちは,調性音楽の崩壊という流れの中で,新たなシステムと語法を模索していた。シェーンベルクが,新しい音列システムである12音技法を手に入れて,調性の枠組みから抜け出していったのに対して,その弟子ベルクは生涯,調性音楽から完全に逸脱することなく,音列を用いながらも,新しい要素はあくまでも伝統の中に組み入れることで,独自の音楽語法を確立していった。ベルクはシェーンベルクに師事していた青年期に,100曲をこえる歌曲を作曲している。この中からベルクが自分自身で7曲を選び出しまとめたのが,この≪7つの初期の歌≫である。現在,カリフォルニアのヘイリー,ブラント両博士によって,≪初期の歌曲集≫が出版されるところだが,これら初期の歌曲からは,ベルクがいかに,シューベルト,シューマン,ヴォルフと続くドイツ・リートの伝統を受け継いでいるかがよくわかる。と同時に,シェーンベルクも指摘しているように,このごく初期の段階ですでに,のちのベルクの作風を特徴づける様々な要素を見いだすことができる。独特の対位法,均整のとれた形式,ピッチやリズムそして音列のシンメトリックな取り扱い,名声部間の緻密な関係,多彩な響きなど,ベルク固有の音楽書法が,いくぶん未熟な技術ではあれ,見事に芽生えているといえよう。本稿では,ベルクの育った芸術環境や,≪7つの初期の歌≫が作曲された頃の創作背景にも触れながら,7曲を年代順にとりあげ,ベルク固有の音楽語法について,特に演奏者の観点から概観してみた。西欧ではレクチャー・リサイタルという形式がある。これはリサイタルの前に,演奏される曲目に関するレクチャー(講演)を伴うもので,レクチャーは鑑賞の質を高めるのに大きな役割を果たしている。本来ならば演奏と対をなすものであるが,本稿を演奏前のレクチャーとして理解して頂ければ幸いである。従って,脚注はなるべく本文に含まれるように配慮し,また平易な言い回しにつとめた。なお本稿は,1991年12月,ソプラノのマーガレット・モリソン嬢の協力を得て,ロサンジェルスの南カリフォルニア大学で行なった博士号レクチャー・リサイタルのレクチャー部分を改訂したものである。

Jungle Crows (Corvus macrorhynchos) and Carrion Crows (C. corone) are common species in Japan. They are closely related and considered ecological “generalists”. I carried out a comparative study on territory and habitat use of these crows in an area where they occur syntopically. The two species defended their territories both intra- and interspecifically. The feeding behavior on the ground and the microhabitats in the territories differed between the species. Jungle Crow territories contained more urban areas, and they foraged mainly at garbage stations. In contrast, Carrion Crows mainly foraged in natural or at least un-paved microhabitats and stayed longer on the ground. Differences in microhabitat use and feeding behavior seemed to contribute to ecological separation between the two species of crows.

HIGUCHI, Hiroyoshi (Lab. For. Zool., Fac. Agr., Univ. Tokyo). 1979. Habitat segregation between the Jungle and Carrion Crows, Corvus macrorhynchos and C. corone, in Japan. Jap. J. Ecol., 29 : 353-358. Corvus macrorhynchos and C. corone use a wide variety of natural resources for food and habitat, and are typical ecological generalists. Because their food is already well known, the habitats of these generalists were investigated. A clear habitat segregation was recognized in this study, which was rather different from the general habitat description appearing in many bird books in Japan. The differences of habitats shown in this study were supported by the results of the examination of stomach contents. By comparison with the situations on the Asian continent, it was suggested that in Japan the habitat of C. macrorhynchos is constricted by sympatry with C. corone.

The aim of this report is to describe a practice of supporting students' English vocabulary learning in National Institute of Technology, Kisarazu College in the financial year 2015. The practice tries to alter students' learning from temporary learning to continuous or repeated learning. A survey is carried out in order to find students' changes of their perceptions about vocabulary learning through the practice. Quantitative text analysis by KH Coder discovers that the students try to learn vocabularies repeatedly with various kinds of learning methodology. The analysis also finds that the students have noticed knowledge connections between English vocabulary learning and contents of other subjects.
