日本における非正規雇用問題は複雑だが, その現状を適切に把握するには, 非正規雇用・就業の多様性に着目し, それら雇用・就業形態相互の関係を明らかにすることが必要である. すなわち, 1)自営業セクターが縮小し, 非正規雇用が拡大したというこの間の変化は, 雇用・就業における格差の拡大というよりは, 格差の形態変化と見るべき部分が少なくないこと, 2)2001年前後における統計上の非正規雇用急増の一部は, 調査票の変更による過大評価であること, 3)パート・アルバイトなど短時間就業中心型の非正規雇用と異なるフルタイム型非正規雇用として契約社員・派遣社員の割合が高まっていることなどを指摘する. そして, 政策上喫緊の課題となっているのは後者の契約社員・派遣社員グループであり, その処遇をいかに改善していくかが重要である. そのために, 最低賃金制度を活用する可能性を示唆する.

いわゆる「ぎっくり腰」の中で,MR像から推定した椎間板内への局所麻酔剤の注入によって除痛が得られたものを椎間板性と定義し,その特徴と発症機序を検討した.いわゆる「ぎっくり腰」で来院した23例中,椎間板性と診断されたのは16例(70%)であった.平均年齢は36歳と比較的若かった.日常の何気ない動作で発症した症例が10例(63%)と多かった.腰部中央を含む両側性腰痛が8例(50%)であり,傍脊柱筋に圧痛がない例が11例(69%)と多かった.単純X線像で椎間板の高度狭小化像を呈する例はなかった.椎間板造影像では後方線維輪までの放射状断裂が全例にみられたが,硬膜外腔への流出像は2例(13%)にしかみられなかった.T2強調MR像では椎間板の変性が全例にみられ,うちgradeⅢ(Gibson分類)が15例(94%)であった.造影MR像では椎間板後縁に明らかな造影領域が10例(63%)にみられた.椎間板性「ぎっくり腰」の多くは,放射状断裂を呈する中等度の変性椎間板において,椎間板後方線維輪の肉芽あるいは瘢痕組織に置換された無症候性断裂部位に,体動による再断裂が生じることで発症していると思われる.

"Sharing norms" has rarely been studied directly though it is one of the most important key-concepts in self-effacement research. The present study examined the effects of sharing norms on individual behavior by operationalizing the degree thereof regarding self-effacement. Two levels of sharing were measured : in a personal network and in a social system. It was predicted that both levels of sharing would be positively correlated with individual self-effacement behavior. A mail survey covering 12 local communities in Japan was conducted. The results showed that people engage in self-effacement more frequently when 1) positive evaluation and behavior regarding self-effacement were shared in their personal network and 2) behavior regarding self-effacement was shared in the communities where the respondents live. Sharing in a personal network was also correlated with individual attitude toward self-effacement. We discussed the differences of the roles that sharing in a personal network and social system plays in terms of self-effacement.

Vibration modes measurement and an analysis method on the partially stiffened cylindrical shell with attached mass which contains liquid partially in it, were developed. Since it was measured that the harmonic numbers of circumferential vibration modes of the liquid filled lower part is different from that of the empty upper one, a finite strip method, which is taken into account the geometrical stiffness of hoop stress due to the contained liquid, partial mass and stiffness by attached elements, was developed. As a result, experimental natural frequencies that the harmonic numbers changes along axis are good agreement to those by analysis.

Cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitors have been shown to exert anti-angiogenic and anti-tumor activities on many types of malignant tumors. These anticancer properties make it worthwhile to examine the possible benefit of combining COX inhibitors with other anti-cancer agents. In the present study, we evaluated the potential of deracoxib (DER) in potentiating antitumor activity of doxorubicin (DOX) in canine mammary carcinoma cells (CMT-U27). DER (50–250 µM) enhanced the antiproliferative activity of DOX by reducing the IC50 (approximately 3- to 3.5 fold). Interaction analysis of the data showed that combinations of DOX at 0.9 µM with DER (100–250 µM) produced synergism in the CMT-U27 cell line, with a ratio index ranging from 1.98 to 2.33. In additional studies identifying the mechanism of observed synergistic effect, we found that DER strongly potentiated DOX-caused G0/G1 arrest in cell cycle progression. Also, DER (100–250 µM) augmented apoptosis induction with approximately 1.35- and 1.37- fold increases in apoptotic response caused by DOX in the cells. DER enhanced the antiproliferative effect of DOX in conjunction with induction of apoptosis by modulation of Bcl-2 expression and changes in the cell cycle of the CMT-U27 cell line. Although the exact molecular mechanism of the alterations in the cell cycle and apoptosis observed with DER and DOX combinations require further investigations, the results suggest that the synergistic effect of DOX and DER combinations in CMT therapy may be achieved at relatively lower doses of DOX with lesser side effects. Therefore, combining DER with DOX may prove beneficial in the clinical treatment of canine mammary cancer.
