The World Health Organization (WHO) has been utilizing Emergency Use Listing (EUL) to expand access to medical products during the COVID-19 pandemic. EUL is a risk-based procedure for assessing and listing unlicensed vaccines, medicine, and in vitro diagnostics. To determine whether Japanese medical products acquired EUL relating to COVID-19, we conducted desk research as a part of a new project. Results showed that thirteen of twenty-eight in vitro diagnostic products were from China and three of ten vaccines on EUL were from India. However, only one vaccine manufactured in Japan was on EUL. A common weakness of Japanese companies in the global public procurement market was a lack of knowledge on qualification systems for medical products. We hypothesized holistic approaches from private companies and systematic supports from public sectors are required for a response to an emergency. These activities could lead to contribute to global health issues through sustainable businesses.

In contemporary literary trend, the body is regarded as a social/cultural construction and is brought to the forefront in studies of gender, sexuality, race, and class. When viewed from the perspective of such studies,the recent surge of interest in women's concerns about their physical appearance-taking such forms as dieting, fashion, and cosmetics-is an attempt to explore the power relations between the genders. The aim of this paper is to argue that the pursuit of beauty and the rise of plastic surgery as an extreme practice, both related to the female gender, reflect the asymmetrical position of the sexes in modern society. By surveying two theories that discuss women's bodies in the first section of the article,and also by examining Fay Weldon's The Life and the Loves of a She-Devil (1983) as a work exploring plastic surgery. In the following two sections, I conclude that what seems to be the heroine's active choice to undergo surgery is, in effect, formed under the strong influence of gender relations in society. I also find in the portrayal of the heroine that plastic surgery, although often discussed posi\tively in the discourse of liberation, can cause substantial harm to women, both physically and mentally.

日立物流や大塚商会のような"領空侵犯"する体制を見習いたいものの「部門間の壁が厚くて難しい」と感じる企業もあるだろう。その場合は、まず部門横断で話し合える場を設けることから始めるべきだ。部門を越えて見知った顔が増えることで、領空侵犯する風土が生まれやすくなる。

The purpose of the present study was to examine whether art students would evaluate paintings based on the economic dimension of value (EDV). Art students (N = 193) were asked to rate 14 paintings (including seven good arts and seven bad arts selected from the Museum of Bad Art) on four scales of aesthetic evaluation. They were also asked to complete a questionnaire assessing their degree of the EDV. The results demonstrated that the EDV was related to aesthetic evaluations for both good and bad arts. These results suggest that art students with the high EDV appreciate paintings based on the EDV and focus on whether paintings would be sold.

ブロードバンド環境の普及により,大容量高品質データの送受信が容易となった.一方で,映画やゲームソフトなどのデジタルコンテンツが違法にダウンロード(以下DL)されるようになり大きな問題となっている.フランスでは対策としてP2Pによる違法DLを検知するシステムを運用し,違法者に警告や罰金を科している.しかし,実際に減少しているのは監視が可能なP2Pでの違法DLのみで,HTTP通信でのDLは増えていることが報告されている.本研究では前述の問題を解決するために,インターネット上にある違法ファイルを監視して検知を行うシステムを提案する.検知方法には文書検索で使われるシグネチャ検索法を用いて行う.
