This paper analyzed the relationships between children's behavior and street environments while returning home from school. Through plotting the course of children's way home and the point of contact with street features by children, and also taking pictures, we examined how children showed playful activities on the street. The main conclusions of this study are as follows: 1) When children are returning home from school, street environments provide opportunities for children to play. 2) The degree of children's playful involvement varies among different street environments. 3) Street features which stand out, have discrepancy in height, contain movable objects attract children's playful activities. 4) Changes created by locomotion provide playing affordances.

The four-eyed dog is found in the Yama cycle of the Rig Veda, where two four-eyed dogs lead the dead to the fathers in heaven. In the Avestan Videvdat, however, a white dog, spotted with yellow on the ears, plays an important role in the funeral rites, and among the modern Parsees it appears at the Sag-did ceremonies again.Ethnography supports the dog and spottedness symbolism in the wide territorial extent and requires some correction of views which, for example, the late Rev. M. Modi has expounded.Originally the two dogs represented the death and the rebirth, which later have been incorporated in one dog with spotted colour and four eyes.The writer also interprets, against Prof. P. Thieme, Rig Vedic çvagbnin- as one who playing dice at the rite of passage gains two aces, a deuce-ace, and sacrifices the four-eyed dog in order to become sacred, renovate oneself and get rebirth.

ソフトウェア開発エンジニアたちは, エンジニア職の自律性が尊重された職場において, 燃え尽きにまでいたるほど自発的に労働に没入している. このような自発的・没入的労働は, 従来, 企業が設計した文化的規範をエンジニアたちが内面化してそれに随順した, 規範的統制の結果として考えられてきた. 本稿は, 大手ソフトウェア開発企業X社を事例として取り上げ, エンジニアたちへのインタビュー調査をもとに, 現場の文化的規範である<コード>を抽出した. エンジニアたちの自発的・没入的労働の語りは, 一見, 内面化した<コード>に随順し続けた物語のように解釈可能であった.<br>しかしながら, 本稿は, エンジニアたちの語りを「人々の社会学」の視角から分析することで, 規範への随順に回収することのできない語りの意味を明らかにした. エンジニアたちは職場の文化的規範を一様に内面化し, 厳しい労働に没入しているのではない. エンジニアたちは, <コード>に象徴されるX社の現場に特有の常識的知識を解釈枠組みとして, 他者の語りの意味を不断に読み替え, またその裏で, <コード>を語ることで自己の関心をしたたかに追求し続けるという相互行為によって協働を達成し, 結果として, 燃え尽きにまでいたる厳しい労働に巻き込まれていくのである.

現在, 墓地として供給されているのは「公園墓地」と呼ばれる様式である。これが日本でどのように成立, 展開したか, その意図したものと, 現在に至っての限界と矛盾点を明らかにする。明治初年に神葬墓地として東京市や大阪市に新墓地が都心遠隔地に形成されるが都市人口集中で都市計画上から必要に迫られ, 井下清により計画された多磨墓地をもって始まる。その後同様式の墓地が全国に造成された。しかし, 形式として欧米自然風景式, 習俗として日本の埋葬, 家族制度を理念としたために, 限界にある。問題はハード面での公園様式と近代化の中で変化していった習俗, 家族の構造変化に対応せず重ね合わせた中にミスマッチを起していることがわかる。

Background:Hypertension in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) is a known independent risk factor for stroke. The Complete blood pressure (BP) monitor (Omron Healthcare, Kyoto, Japan) was developed as the first BP monitor with electrocardiogram (ECG) capability in a single device to simultaneously monitor ECG and BP readings. This study investigated whether the Complete can accurately differentiate sinus rhythm (SR) from AF during BP measurement.Methods and Results:Fifty-six consecutive patients with persistent AF admitted for catheter ablation were enrolled in the study (mean age 65.8 years; 83.9% male). In all patients, 12-lead ECGs and simultaneous Complete recordings were acquired before and after ablation. The Complete interpretations were compared with physician-reviewed ECGs, whereas Complete recordings were reviewed by cardiologists in a blinded manner and compared with ECG interpretations. Sensitivity, specificity, and κ coefficient were also determined. In all, 164 Complete and ECG recordings were simultaneously acquired from the 56 patients. After excluding unclassified recordings, the Complete automated algorithm performed well, with 100% sensitivity, 86% specificity, and a κ coefficient of 0.87 compared with physician-interpreted ECGs. Physician-interpreted Complete recordings performed well, with 99% sensitivity, 85% specificity, and a κ coefficient of 0.85 compared with physician-interpreted ECGs.Conclusions:The Complete, which combines BP and ECG monitoring, can accurately differentiate SR from AF during BP measurement.
