乾式再処理法によってリサイクルされた高速炉用金属燃料には希土類元素が混入しているため、取出し燃料の燃焼度評価に広く用いられているNd148法が適用できない。そこで、148Nd以外のFP核種を用いた燃焼度評価法について検討を行う。

The rapid development of high-throughput techniques and expansion of bacterial databases have accelerated efforts to bring plant microbiomes into cultivation. We introduced plant-only-based culture media as a successful candidate to mimic the nutritional matrices of plant roots. We herein employed a G3 PhyloChip microarray to meticulously characterize the culture-dependent and -independent bacterial communities of the maize root compartments, the endo- and ecto-rhizospheres. An emphasis was placed on the preference of the growth of unculturable candidate divisions/phyla on plant-only-based culture media over standard culture media (nutrient agar). A total of 1,818 different operational taxonomic units (OTUs) were resolved representing 67 bacterial phyla. Plant-only-based culture media displayed particular affinity towards recovering endophytic over ectophytic rhizobacteria. This was shown by the slightly higher recovery of CFUs for endophytes on plant-only-based culture media (26%) than on standard culture media (10%) as well as the higher taxa richness and numbers of exclusive families of unculturable divisions/phyla. Out of 30 bacterial phyla (comprising >95% of the whole population), 13 were of a significantly higher incidence on plant-only-based culture media, 6 phyla of which were not-yet-cultured (Atribacteria, OP9; Dependentiae, TM6; Latescibacteria, WS3; Marinimicrobia, SAR406; Omnitrophica, OP3; BRC1). Furthermore, plant-only-based culture media significantly enriched less abundant and/or hard-to-culture bacterial phyla (Acidobacteria, Gemmatimonadetes, and Tenericutes). These results present conclusive evidence of the ability of plant-only-based culture media to bring the plant-fed in situ microbiome into the status of plant-fed in vitro cultures, and to widen the scope of cultivation of heretofore-unculturable bacterial divisions/phyla.

To design DC electromagnets in an optimal manner, it is necessary to obtain the dynamic behavior accurately. A new method to calculate the dynamic behavior using the finite element method with edge elements has been developed. In order to verify its accuracy, the static and the dynamic behaviors of a clapper type electromagnet are calculated. The 3-D electromagnetic field analysis is carried out using the vector finite element with tetrahedral edge variables. The force is obtained by using the Maxwell stress tensor. The displacement of the armature of the electromagnet is obtained by solving the motion equation of the moving parts. The calculated results of the edge elements and that of the nodal elements are compared with the measurements. Moreover, it is clarified that the forces and the dynamic behavior can be accurately calculated using the edge elements.

Optical computed tomography, optical CT, is the medical imaging modality in which near-infrared light is used to probe biological tissues. To investigate the inside of a highly scattering medium like biological tissue, we have developed the optical CT system which can measure an intensity distribution of light pulses transmitting through highly scattering medium by using the photon counting method. Intensity distributions of transmitted light pulses were measured by changing a concentration of Intralipid-10%, a highly scattering medium, in salt solution. This experiment makes it clear that the FWHM of the intensity distribution increases gradually and a peak existing in the distribution begins to lack with the increase of the concentration of Intralipid-10%. To reconstruct an image of an object, a peak channel and a weighted integral value of the intensity distribution of the transmitted light pulse were used as a projection data in this optical CT system. For instance, an optical CT image of an absorber in salt solution with 1.3% Intralipid-10% was reconstructed from the projection data taken by this method, so the comparatively good experimental result was obtained. Furthermore, image reconstructions of a gumbo and a boiled egg of a quail were performed using the projection data by our method. As a result, we could reconstruct five species in the gumbo and detect that the yolk inclines in the boiled egg.

フェノバルビタール大量療法で難治性痙攣をコントロールし得た 1 例を経験した。患者は50歳の男性。熱発・全身倦怠感で発症し, 4 日後に,脳髄膜炎を疑われ,前医へ入院となった。入院後から痙攣発作を認めるようになり,痙攣の持続時間は数十秒から30分程度であった。原因検索を行うと同時に,各種抗痙攣薬で痙攣のコントロールが試みられたが,痙攣の頻度は変わらず,前医第 9 病日に当センターへ転院となった。ミダゾラム,サイアミラール,プロポフォールなどの静脈麻酔薬を併用しつつ,抗痙攣薬で痙攣のコントロールを試みたが,痙攣は消失しなかった。経過中,血清中の抗グルタミン酸受容体IgM-ε2抗体が陽性であることが判明し,自己免疫介在性脳炎が強く疑われた。ステロイドパルス療法が著効しなかったため,フェノバルビタールの投与量を段階的に1,200mg/dayまで増量したところ,血中濃度が60μg/mlを超えたところで痙攣が消失した。その後,他の抗痙攣薬を順次中止し,フェノバルビタールの単剤投与としても,痙攣が再発することはなく,第76病日の脳波でも棘波は消失した。痙攣のコントロールに難渋する症例に対して,フェノバルビタール大量療法は効果の期待できる治療法であると考えられた。

The purpose of this study is to reinterpret Japanese communication style, which has been explained based on the theory of Japanese collectivism. In many previous academic discussions concerning the Japanese, the people and society in Japan have been described as collectivism On the other hand, very few of the recently published empirical studies support the theory of Japanese collectivism. How should this gap be explained? It is necessary to examine principles of behavior to answer this question. This study is based on the assumption that humans are guided by the behavioral principle of fulfilling their interests, needs, and desires, including the five basic needs presented by psychologist Abraham Maslow-a notion the author refers to as "the pursuit of self-interest." It is possible to assume the operation of this principle of behavior on the basis of social exchange theory in psychology and rational choice theory in sociology. Even if a communication style that appears to reflect collectivist behavior is found, that may not be because the Japanese is pursuing the group interest rather than individual interest as has been explained to date, following the theory of Japanese collectivism. Instead, in attempting to meet a goal, the Japanese may be making a decision different from that of, for example, the American because of cultural factors that have developed historically and socially. Since it cannot be considered individualistic, the Japanese communication style has been considered by Americans to be collectivistic. However, if we assume -consciously or unconsciously- the fundamental behavioral principle of the pursuit of self-interest, it may be more appropriate to adopt a paradigm such as "self-interested cooperation" which is essentially different from the notion of collectivism as it is commonly understood by American people.

<p> 静岡はサッカー王国として名を馳せ、清水エスパルス、ジュビロ磐田という名門チームや、バスケットボール、ラグビー、陸上の強豪チームを抱えるなど、温暖な気候もあってか、スポーツは盛んのように思える。サッカーにおいては、日本代表における静岡県出身者は減り、前述したJリーグの2チームは近年2部リーグ落ちを経験するなど苦戦しているが、静岡県内にJクラブは4チーム存在し、静岡という地域に本当にサッカーが根付いているのだと感じる。依然として、若年層のサッカー競技人口も多い。かなりの割合の子供がサッカーをやっているように思えるが、現実的にはプロのレベルに到達するまでに、大多数が淘汰される。彼らに他のスポーツの適性を見いだすことはできるのであろうか?他の選択肢を与えることで、彼らが高いレベルで競技を行ったり、好きな種目に出会える可能性を高めることができるのではないだろうか。それらを踏まえ、若年層での多様なスポーツ経験の必要性や、身体的側面・心理的側面からの適所に人材を配置するなど、限られた人的資源を有効に活用すべく、依然として多いサッカー競技者からの種目転向の可能性を考える。</p>
