I analyzed a poem, The Blue Sky which is written in the book entitled Mountains and Rivers without End by Gary Snyder. I suspect that the archetypal journey is a main theme in it. It consists of three stages, that is, separation, initiation, and return. This title The BluE Sky symbolizes the unconscious world because Buddha called Master of Healing lives there, shining pure as lapis lazuli like the blue sky. This azure radiance (Yakushi) Buddha called Master of Healing is the saint, the perfectly enlightened one and the old man medicine Buddha. He is the lord of the lost paradise. That is why this Buddha symbolizes the key archetype image, old wise man. Other archetype images, shadow, India and great mother (maya) are used to make this key archetype image clear. At first stage we pray that we can see the old wise man (azure radiance Buddha). It is said that azure radiance medicine Buddha had twelve prayers in his bodhisattva-hood. Next stage we chant charms (true words) and see the old wise man (medicine Buddha) in our dream; then we feel at ease. Medicine Buddha (Yakushi tathagata)always has a medicine- bottle in his left hand and give it to us at our desire. Last stage we awake from the illusion which made us to forget medicine Buddha. Medicine Buddha and we are one in the lapis lazuli world. The archetype image (Buddha) transcend (the time and the space. He is ever changing to let us be enlightened) because he has many masks. He figures as Shakamuni Buddha, or as Yakushi 97Buddha, or as A m ita bha Buddha, and so on at our desire. We know that all of us are embraced by the Buddha's mother Maya (great mother) without end.

A 38-year-old man complained of headache and nausea after traveling by aeroplane. On physical examination, high fever and nuchal rigidity were found. Computed tomography showed pneumocephalus. Magnetic resonance imaging showed sphenoid sinusitis. Cerebrospinal fluid examination revealed purulent meningitis. The patient was medically treated using antibiotic agents. The pneumocephalus disappeared and the purulent meningitis was resolved. We suggest that the barotrauma resulted in the pneumocephalus and purulent meningitis. Barotrauma is a potential cause of pneumocephalus, especially if the patient has parasinusitis.

直接観察を行う際,ある規準を決め,ある現象に対しその規準との差分が大きいとき,特徴のある行動と把握している.一方,グラウンデッドセオリーはデータに基づいて(grounded)分析を進め,データから概念を抽出し,概念同士の関係づけによって理論を生成しようとする研究方法である.本研究は観察方法の範囲を広げるべく,このグラウンデッドセオリーのコーディング,プロパティ及びディメンションに注目して,観察とデータ処理をする方法を検討した.事例として,和歌山市役所のエレベータの乗車行動を観察し,プロパティとディメンションを使い観察データを分解し切片化した.切片化したデータは,アソシエーションルールを使いて,データ間の関係を解明した.結論として,プロパティとディメンションという視点から人のしぐさや行動を定量的に分析することができた.

症例: 心臓震盪は, 小児期から若年成人の競技, 遊戯などに伴って発生する外因性の院外心停止をきたす病態である. 欧米などでは主に球技により発症し, 自動体外式除細動器(AED)を用いた適切な心肺蘇生がなければ, 予後不良とされる. 今回, 本症を経験し, 発症時の映像, AEDファイルの心電図も含めて報告する.<BR>患者は14歳, 男児. 空手歴8年. 空手の試合中, 相手のパンチと膝蹴りが左前胸部に直撃した直後に, 心肺停止をきたした. 2分後に待機していた父親と医師による心肺蘇生, 4分後に3回のAEDによる除細動がなされ, 自己心拍が再開した. 発症13分後に救急搬送された病院で会話が可能であった. 以後, 後遺症なく経過良好であった. AEDファイルの心電図では, 心室細動が確認された. その後の精査により内因性の疾患は除外された. 以上から経過により心臓震盪と診断した.<BR>本症は, AEDを用いた適切な心肺蘇生が重要と考えられ, その対策について考察する.

A new type of synthetic inhibitor of DNA topoisomerase I and II was examined and several of these derivatives exhibited strong dual activity against these enzymes. This series of compounds showed high cytotoxic activities against cancer cells, but only a limited number of compounds showed any noticeable activity in an in vivo test against murine P388. Non-specific toxicity was observed in the in vivo tests.

This essay having explained the characteristics of Complex Emergency, studies civil military cooperation in interventions, and the humanitarian activities implemented by multinational forces deployed in accordance with the UN Security Council's resolutions in 1990s. In doing so, it addresses the issues related to humanitarian activities by militaries, especially concerning the distinction between combatants and civilians, as well as neutrality and impartiality, the principles of humanitarian activities. It goes on to explore the issues concerning increasing direct involvement by militaries in humanitarian activities such as constructions of schools and food distributions.
