キリシタン資料のバレト写本(1591写)には、カラタチを意味するゲズという語が見え、これが文献上での最古の用例と考えられる。文献からは、18世紀以来、ゲズはカラタチの九州方言であったことがわかる。バレト写本以外に近世より前の用例を見出すことはできないが、現在、「枳殻」「枳」をゲズ等と読む地名や姓が九州を中心に偏って分布しており、他の地域に名残も見あたらないことから、ゲズはかなり特定の地域に偏った語であることが窺える。『日本国語大辞典』第二版ではゲズをカラタチの古名とするが、むしろバレト写本の時代から方言であったと見るのが妥当であろう。バレト写本に現れるゲズの例は、方言に対して意識的であったはずのキリシタン宣教師が、それと気付かずに使用した方言の例と考えられる。

This paper describes about path planning for a root-cutting blade of an automatic spinach harvester. Automatic harvesters for spinach have not been widely used among farmers because mechanical harvesting easily spells bruises to stems and leaves. We have been developing the harvester which successfully harvests spinach without bruising stems and leaves. The path which blade moves in soil is very important in order to attain desired performance and to reduce the amount of soil which is pushed by the blade is the most meaningful factor for successful execution. In this paper, first, we discuss about a method to reduce the amount of soil and proposed a constraint equation for the method. Next, an appropriate path of the blade of the harvester is proposed by using the equation. The effectiveness of the proposed path is verified by numerical simulations based on the Discrete Element Method (DEM).

そこで、国民生活センターは、GFRPが使われている傘として50銘柄をホームセンターなどで購入し、GFRPの使用箇所、表面の状態などについて調査した。50銘柄のうち長傘が17銘柄、折り畳み傘が19銘柄、児童用傘が14銘柄。価格は約500〜2500円程度である。

勝軍地蔵とは、日本中世における神仏の戦争が生み出した軍神(イクサガミ)であった。その信仰は、観音霊場を舞台に諸権門間の対立・内紛といった戦争を契機として誕生した。そして征夷大将軍達の物語とともに、その軍神(イクサガミ)的性格を色濃くしていった。多武峯談山神社所蔵「日輪御影」は、いわば勝軍地蔵誕生の記念碑的絵画であった。「日輪御影」は、応長・正和年間(一三一一〜一二)に、興福寺との合戦に際して戦場となった多武峯冬野における日輪出現と、その周辺の観音勝地で起こった三神影向伝説を絵画化したものである。画面下方に描かれた束帯に甲冑を着した三眼の異人は、良助法親王と推測され、彼が喧伝した勝軍地蔵を想起させる。画面上方の円光中に描かれた藤原鎌足像は、三眼の異人と対をなして勝軍地蔵の化身として配置されている。また画面上部に描かれた三つの円光は太陽・月・星であり、山王三聖信仰を背景とする三光地蔵の表象である。「日輪御影」に表された勝軍地蔵信仰の世界観は、三光の多様な言説を背景として、鎌倉中期から南北朝期にかけて浮上する太陽・日輪の文化の急速な波及と密接に関わっている。太陽・日輪イメージは、勝軍地蔵信仰と結びつくことで、戦う神仏のイデオロギー・武威のシンボルへと収斂していたのである。こうした太陽・日輪イメージは、天空における太陽の月・星に対する優位性が日本という国家・国土の優越性に準えられた思想であった。それは、日本の神仏の優位性を主張し、日本という国土を神聖化し、日本を仏教的コスモロジーの中心に位置付けようとする運動であった。勝軍地蔵信仰は、同時代の中世的国家・国土観念と不可分な結びつきをもちながら、後代に少なからぬ影響を及ぼしていったのである。Shogun jizo is an ikusa-gami (military deity) that was created as a consequence of the war among gods during the Middle Ages. The belief in this deity came into being on the occasion of battles that were confrontations and internal disputes between various men of influence in sacred sites of the Kannon (Goddess of Mercy). Together with the tales of the Seii-taishogun (military general), the character of the shogun jizo took on stronger character of a military deity."Nichirin-no-Miei" is held at Tonomine-Tanzan Jinja Shrine, and is symbolizing the birth of the shogun jizo."Nichirin-no-Miei" is a depiction of the appearance of nichirin (sun) at Tonomine Fuyuno, which was the battleground of the war that took place against Kofuku-ji Temple during the Ocho and Showa periods (1311-1312). It also depicts the legend of Sanshin Yogo (appearance of three gods), that took place near sacred sites of the Kannon. The strange three-eyed figure depicted at the bottom of the drawing wearing armor over full court dress is assumed to be Ryojo Hosshinno (Imperial Prince Priest Ryojo, son of Emperor Kameyama), who is somewhat reminiscent of the shogun jizo. The figure of Fujiwara-no-Kamatari, who is an incarnation of the shogun jizo, drawn in the upper part of the drawing inside an aureole is forming a counterpart to the three-eyed creature. The three aureoles drawn in the upper part of the picture are the sun, moon and Venus, and symbolize the Sanko jizo, which are linked to the Sanno Sansho religious belief.The world view of the shogun jizo belief represented in "Nichirin-no-Miei" has a close relationship with the rapid spread of the sun culture, which constitutes the Sanko belief together with the moon and Venus, that emerged from the middle of the Kamakura Period (1185-1333) through to the Period of the Northern and Southern Courts (1336-1392). By linking with the belief in the shogun jizo, the sun image came to narrow down to a symbol of the ideology and military power of warring gods.This image of the sun representing the superiority of the sun over the moon and Venus in the heavens was a belief that was modeled on the superiority of the state and territory that constituted Japan. It was a movement that advocated the superiority of Japanese gods, sanctified the territory of Japan and sought to position Japan in the center of the Buddhist cosmology. At the same time as being inextricably linked to the concept of the medieval state and territory of that period, the belief in the shogun jizo came to have a considerable influence over later periods.

Raymond Carver, master of the American short story, dies in 1988 at the age of fifty, sending his late-blooming and short life. He recovers alcoholic in his late life, obtains the best partner, Tess and comes to carry out a new literary start in the environment blessed as a writer, winning some awards. The theme of "A Small, Good Thing " in Cathedral, the best collection of his short stories will be studied, following Carver's short life and comparing this work with "The Bath" in What We Talk About When We Talk About Love. This story,"The Bath"is marvelously written by Carver's minimal art which stirs memories of Ernest Hemingway. Carver's minimal art achieves maximal effects. In the paradoxically lyric way of the minimalist writer, he has not only made sense of this world, he has given it value. Written in the simplest of styles, mirroring the language of everyday life, this story "The Bath", possesses an awesome mesmerizing power. It suddenly brings about fear of everyday life in its characters, a good couple, Ann and Howard who lead their life peacefully. Out of the moments when good luck runs out, Carver makes the highest art. In "A Small, Good Thing " he succeeds in weaving the illusion that his characters are not only real but representative. This story contains astonishing achievements, which bespeak a writer expanding his range and intentions. It overflows with the danger, excitement, mystery, and possibility of life. Its main characters come to obtain mental enhancement of relation and relief called "brightness" Carver is a writer of astonishing compassion and honesty. His eye sets only on describing and revealing the world as he sees it. His eye is so clear, it almost breaks your heart. This story shows a gifted writer struggling for a larger scope of reference, a finer touch of nuance. There is a strangeness, the husk of a myth in this story.

We studied the temporal and spatial characteristics of extreme typhoon rainfall in Taiwan using Central Weather Bureau hourly precipitation data from 21 surface stations during the past 51 years (1960-2010). Extreme rainfall is defined as 95th percentile intensity of total rain events, or equivalently, rain events greater than 9 mm hr<sup>-1</sup> which contribute 40% to the total rain amount in Taiwan. It was found that approximately 70% (20%) of extreme rain is in the typhoon season (Mei-Yu) from July to October (from May to June). There are significant variations of typhoon extreme rainfall over the annual and decadal time scales, with larger extreme rainfall values and events in the periods of 1960-1976 and 1994-2010, and less in the 1977-1993 period. The recent 1994-2009 period has the most extreme rainfall and events, as well as, inter-annual variability. In contrast, there are strong inter-annual variations of Mei-Yu extreme rainfall, but no significant decadal variations. The averaged typhoon rain intensity, however, is about the same, being 19 mm hr<sup>-1</sup> in all these three periods. Our analysis indicates that the typhoon extreme rainfall spatial pattern is phased locked with the Central Mountain Range, Taiwan. In general, the amount of extreme rainfall was related to the typhoon translation speed and duration time, but not typhoon intensity. Slower speeds and longer duration time lead to larger extreme rainfall values. Our analysis also indicate that the mean duration time of Taiwan landfall typhoons with northern tracks (tracks north of 23 degrees latitude) is about 3 hours longer than that of southern track typhoons in the last 51 years, and is more likely to produce three times as much extreme rainfall. The interactions of summer or winter monsoons with typhoons are also important factors that may contribute to the extreme rainfall in Taiwan. Examples of extreme rainfall due to typhoon circulation interaction with summer and winter monsoon flows are presented. Monsoon water vapor supply, typhoon slow translation speed, and mesoscale convection due to typhoon-monsoon flow interactions are the key factors in extreme precipitation events.
