We investigated the predatory ability of Carabus yaconinus (Coleoptera: Carabidae) on larvae of Spodoptera litura (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in the laboratory. A C. yaconinus adult preyed on ca. 90 S. litura larvae at the second-instar stage during 24 h. The number of larvae killed in 24 h decreased to ca. 40, 30 and 20 at third-, fourth- and fifth-instar stages, respectively. The wet weight of S. litura larvae killed by a C. yaconinus in 24 h increased with the larval stages of S. litura, and was highest for the fifth-instar stage. C. yaconinus adults occasionally left the predation unfinished and bit another live prey. The proportion of half-eaten prey varied with the larval stage of the prey. C. yaconinus can efficiently kill large numbers of S. litura larvae; thus, it may play an important role as a natural enemy of lepidopteran pests in agricultural fields.

聴覚実験に用いられるヘッドホンの幾かの物理特性を明らかにすることを目的として, 5種類のヘッドホンTDH 39, DT 48, HD 250 Linear II, HDA 200, SR-A Pro.のカップラレスポンス, 実耳レスポンス, 高調波歪特性, インパルス応答特性, 位相・群遅延特性, 外部幅射特性, 音響遮蔽特性, 音響クロストーク特性を測定し, 比較した結果について述べる。

聴覚実験に用いる最適なヘッドホンを特定するために、5種類のヘッドホン(TDH39, DT48, HD250 Linear II, HDA200, SR-Λ Pro.)の周波数特性、位相特性、高調波歪み特性、クロストーク特性等を物理的に測定した。その結果、HDA200とSR-ΛPro.が実耳装着時でも比較的平坦な周波数特性を持ちカップラ応答との差が少ないこと、位相特性や歪特性はどのヘッドホンでも問題ないこと、SR-ΛPro.の音響的なクロストーク特性は他のものより劣ることが分かった。また、ヘッドホンの実耳装着時の周波数特性に差異があると、F1だけを変化させた合成母音系列の音韻性判断において、周波数特性の差に応じてF1境界周波数がずれて推定されるが、ヘッドホンの周波数特性を逆フィルタで補正すればそのずれを解消できることが分かった。

我々は,安全なオンラインゲームを確立するための技術開発の一環として,多人数同時参加型オンラインロールプレイングゲーム (MMORPG) における現実世界の貨幣による取引 (RMT) の問題の解決に取り組んでいる.本稿では,RMT 実施者の検出の効率の向上を目的として,MMORPG のプレイログデータおよびチャットログデータに基づく統計的な属性情報について述べる.我々は実際の商用 MMORPG のログデータおよび,ゲーム運営者によって発見済みの RMT 実施者のリストに基づいて,実際の RMT 実施者の行動の特徴を同定した.そして,ユーザ集合から,RMT 被疑者を抽出するクローズドテストによって,各特徴の有効性を確認した.今回の調査により,RMT 実施者の役割ごとに,行動やチャットの量に大きな違いがあることが明らかになった.Toward making the virtual worlds of online games reliable, we have been addressing the issues of Real-Money Trading (RMT) carried out in Massively Multi-player Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs). In this paper, we describe a method for detecting RMT dealers using a set of features extracted from log data of MMORPG. Through the manual analysis of log data of a commercial MMORPG, we identified several numeric features that characterize RMT dealers. We also revealed the significant differences of the volumes of actions and utterances between the roles of RMT dealers. A closed test confirmed the effectiveness of these features on detecting RMT dealers.

本研究は計700人を超える小学校の児童を主に対象に、認識論における知識の分析で論じられてきたゲティアー例についての質問を行い、その答えと発達心理学における誤信念課題、および独自の信念変化課題の結果との相関を分析することで、子供の知識概念の発達過程を探求するものである。大学生を対象とした調査とも比較した結果、子供の知識概念は最初誤信念の認識能力と深く関係し、次に反事実的状況における信念変化へのsensitivityと関るようになり、その発達は小学校高学年で一応の完成を見るが、状況を想像する能力との関りなどにより成人の段階まで個人差が残るということが明らかになった(またその過程で、日本の子供の誤信念課題のパス率、間接的知識の承認などについて、独立の興味深い事実も明らかになった)。これは、認識論で議論の対象となっている大人の知識概念についての食い違いがどこにあるのかを明確に示すとともに、より「完成された」知識概念がどのようなものであるかについての有力なデータを提供するものである。そこで示唆される知識概念とは、「現実の状況においてどのような情報を得ても変化しない信念」としての知識であり、これは形式的には情報に対して単調な、あるいはsustainableな信念と分析でき、J・ヒンティカの認識論理における分析と結び付けることで形式的な信念変化の理論により真理概念や正当化概念を用いない形式的で厳密な知識の理論として構成できる。こうした経験的データと形式的分析を総合した結果は、A Theory of Knowledge and Belief Change-Formal and Experimental Perspective(Hokkaido University Press)として出版された。

食塩の過剰摂取は血圧上昇の一因であり, 脳卒中や心臓疾患の原因と考えられている。近年, これら疾病の予防や病態の改善を目的とする減塩食の必要性が高まっているが, 料理中の食塩を減らすと味がもの足りなくなり, 病院給食では入院患者の摂食量低下による栄養摂取量の不足が問題となる。我々は, ナトリウム (Na) を含まないうま味物質であるグルタミン酸マグネシウム (MDG) を用い, おいしさを維持した減塩料理の提供を試みた。通常の病院給食として供食している通常料理, Na量を減らした減塩料理とMDGを用いたうま味添加減塩料理の3通りの料理についての官能特性を比較した。その結果, 減塩料理は通常料理に比べて全ての項目で低値を示し, うま味添加減塩料理では顕著に改善した。この結果から, 通常料理を減塩する際にうま味を呈するMDGを用いても料理のおいしさを損なうことなく, Na摂取量を減らす有効な方法であると考えられる。

In Mabo v. Queensland of 3 June 1992,the High Court of Australia handed down a decision of great import to the future of Aboriginal land rights in Australia. In a six to one majority, the Court held that the Meriam people of the Murray Islands retained a native title to their land which was not extinguished by the annexation of the Islands to the colony of Queensland in 1879,nor by subsequent legislation. In reaching this decision the High Court rejected the concept of terra nullius (land belonging to no one) that has been long-established and accepted in cases before the Mabo decision. It is my opinion that Mabo decision has significant relevance to the issue of the land rights of the Ainu people in Japan. So, in this article I summarize the Mabo decision and make comments concerning especially the doctrine of terra nullius, the extinguishment of native title and the need for compensation based on wrongful extinguishment of the title in the decision.

[Purpose] The objective of this study was to compare the active cervical range of motion (CROM) of asymptomatic subjects without orthosis with wearing cervical soft collars or with cervical 5cross-taping. [Subjects] Twenty-three asymptomatic subjects (13 males, 10 females) without neck or shoulder pain agreed to participate in this study. [Methods] The active neck movement (flexion, extension, and left and right rotation and lateral flexion) of the subjects was measured using a CROM instrument without orthosis, while wearing a cervical soft collar, and with cervical-5 cross-taping. [Results] All active neck movements with cervical-5 cross-taping were significantly reduced compared to without orthosis. All active neck movements while wearing soft cervical collars were significantly reduced compared to without orthosis and cervical-5 cross-taping. [Conclusion] These preliminary results suggest that cervical-5 cross-taping using Kinesio tape may allow more active neck movement than soft cervical collars and be more supported than without orthosis.
