This paper analyzes, for the first time, the whole process of the planning of the defensive walls realized in Larache, Morocco, the enclave Spain of Felipe III possessed in 1610, by referring the related documents in Coleccion Aparici. The final plan was based on the idea of Bautista Antonelli, one of the most important military engineers in that period. And this paper shows that the most important factor in that process was to make a project which can be constructed with low cost and two conditions observed in the original plan of Antonelli were not seen in the final plan. Antonelli modified his original plan according to the wish of the Court which was concerned about its cost. At that period, the Spanish government was trying to reduce the expenditure for military budget, including that of the fortification, in order to solve its financial problem. Therefore, we can regard the process of the planning of the fortification in Larache as a case that shows the general feature of Spanish fortification in the first quarter of the 17th century.

本研究では,米国およびカナダで開発されたCREW(Civility, Respect & Engagement with Work)プログラムに関して,(1)日本版CREWプログラムの開発,(2)日本の職場での適用可能性の検討,(3)実施効果の検討,の3点を目的とした。某大学病院の2つの病棟を対象にプログラムを実施し(2014年9月~2015年2月の6か月間)中間解析を行った結果,参加者の大部分を占める看護職において,ワーク・エンゲイジメントの得点が上昇する傾向が認められた。

農道、干拓堤防、ため池等の農業用の施設が過去の地震でたびたび被害を受けてきている、2000年10月6日に発生したマグニチュード7.3の鳥取県西部地震ではため池の約68箇所が被災している。さらに2001年3月24日に発生したマグニチュード6.4の芸予地震においても約187箇所のため池が被災している。本報告では被害の状況と特徴について述べる。芸予地震については現時点では被害の詳細がすべては明らかになってはいないが、現在の調査結果に基いて、この地震被害の状況と特徴について述べる。

Recent studies show that volume fractions φJ at the jamming transition of frictionless hard spheres and disks are not uniquely determined but exist over a continuous range. Motivated by this observation, we numerically investigate the dependence of φJ on the initial configurations of the parent fluid equilibrated at a volume fraction φeq, before compressing to generate a jammed packing. We find that φJ remains constant when φeq is small but sharply increases as φeq exceeds the dynamic transition point which the mode-coupling theory predicts. We carefully analyze configurational properties of both jammed packings and parent fluids and find that, while all jammed packings remain isostatic, the increase of φJ is accompanied with subtle but distinct changes of local orders, a static length scale, and an exponent of the finite-size scaling. These results are consistent with the scenario of the random first-order transition theory of the glass transition.

Advanced heart failure (HF) is sometimes complicated with brain impairment because of a microthrombosis caused by decreased left ventricular contraction or reduced brain circulation. Some patients may recover after left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation. However, little is known about the perioperative therapeutic strategy in patients suffering from such complications, particularly from a cardiac rehabilitation viewpoint. We report on a 58-year-old male patient with a previous history of poliomyelitis and a light paralysis in the left upper extremity, who suffered left hemiplegia with no evidence of stroke after hemodynamic deterioration. The combination therapy of perioperative cardiac rehabilitation and LVAD therapy improved his left hemiplegia as well as activities of daily living, and the patient was discharged on foot on postoperative day 72 after briefing the family on LVAD home management. Early initiation of cardiac rehabilitation before LVAD implantation may be a key for the smooth discharge and resocialization of patients suffering from brain impairment complicated with advanced HF.

疲労の回復は勤務中の手休めや休憩時にも生じるが、疲労が回復する大きな機会は勤務と勤務の間の余暇にある。しかし、これまで、どのような余暇の過ごし方が疲労回復に効果的であるのか、とりわけ昼夜の逆転が頻繁に起こる交代制勤務者に焦点を当てた知見は数少ない。本研究の目的は、健康生成論的な観点より、交代制勤務に従事する看護師を対象として、夜勤による疲労回復と余暇の過ごし方の関係を明らかにすることであった。

分かり易く覚え易いサイン音をデザインするための基礎的知見を得るために,既存のサイン音を用いて,機能イメージに関するカテゴリ判断実験と擬音語表現を用いた自由記述表現実験を行った。機能イメージに関しては,主成分分析により「警報-操作」「報知」「呼出」「警告告知」「終了」の五つのイメージに集約した後,擬音語表現と音響的特徴との対応関係な検討した。その結果,警報感を伴う音は「ピピピピ」等に擬音語表現される繰り返しを伴う音あるいは「ブー」と表現される継続時間が長く倍音の豐富な音,操作のフィードバックに適するのは「ピッ」で表現される短い音,報知に適するのは立ち上りが緩やかで拗音を伴って表現される音,呼出感の強い音は「ビリリリ」等で表現される変化速度の速い周期的変動音,警告告知のイメージを伴う音は「ブー」など有声子音を用いた基本周波数が低く周波数成分が豐富な音,終了のイメージを伴う音は「ピー-ピー」等のように長音を伴った繰り返しで表現される音か,長い減衰時間を持ち「チーン」などと長音と撥音を伴う表現がされる音である等の傾向を得ることができた。
