There are dolls that speak, move their limbs, and have an intimate relationship with people. A doll, which is artificial, and a human being fall in love and become a couple or create a parent-child relationship. Such a relationship is sometimes regarded as deviant. This paper analyzes the relationship between a doll that seems to have life and an individual without assuming that the relationship is deviant. In the interpretation based on existing magic theory, a doll is regarded as something that is infused with life from human beings. The interpretation integrates a doll with life into a human but segregates the existence of human life from the existence of a material doll. Such interpretation treats the doll as material, not as human. Therefore, it is not possible to comprehend the intimate relationship between a doll and a human. Instead of resolving the division between human and non-human material, this paper focuses on the "updated" relationship between doll and world, and considers that doll life is infused with life from a human being.

Many of the reports summarizing neurological disorders in cats considered only a limited disease group(s). There is only one large-scale survey on neurological disorders in cats based on the histopathological viewpoint. We described the localizations and frequencies of neurological diseases in a large population of cats that were referred to the Kyoto Animal Referral Medical Center between 2009 and 2016. We attempted to determine the localization of lesions at the time of the examination in each case and to classify the disease etiologies of these 276 cats with neurological disorders retrospectively. There were 174 cases with lesions in the brain region, 14 cases with lesions in the cervical cord region, 34 cases with lesions in the thoracolumbar cord region, and 54 cases with lesions in the peripheral neuromuscular region. High morbidity rates were observed in cases of idiopathic epilepsy and intracranial tumor in the brain region, spinal cord infarction in the cervical cord region, spinal cord infarction and spinal cord tumor in the thoracolumbar cord region, and peripheral vestibular dysfunction arising from otitis media/interna in the peripheral neuromuscular region. It was suggested that there is a higher number of brain diseases than spinal cord and peripheral neuromuscular diseases in cats. Idiopathic and neoplastic diseases were common in the brain region, vascular diseases were common in the spinal cord region, and infectious diseases were common in the peripheral neuromuscular region.

Informed consent(説明と同意)は患者中心の医療を行ううえで重要なプロセスであるが,患者・医療者双方ともにその重要性の認識は未だ不足している。また急速な高齢化による認知症患者の増加により,同意能力が低下し自らの医療の決断に困難を要する患者に対する意思決定支援が今後急務となる。しかし支援体制はまだ充足しているとはいえず,代理意思決定権の問題についても法的整備が追い付いていないのが現状である。認知症をはじめとする精神疾患患者を診断・治療し意思決定を支援することは,これからの精神科医の役割として重要である。

1974年,前年のオイルショックの影響で日本経済は戦後初のマイナス成長を記録した。半導体業界も深刻な不振に陥り,技術者の多くは仕事がほとんどない状況だった。日立製作所も例外ではなく,武蔵工場では定時退社が日常化し,午後から帰休になる日もあったという。 だからといって,半導体技術者の意気はそがれなかった。むしろその逆である。

宣長の「物のあはれ」説は、近代の<源氏的なもの>を作り出した重要な言説である。しかし、その源氏注釈は、『古事記伝』における「ムスヒ神学」と密接に繋がっていた。そのとき「物のあはれ」説は、中世以来の神道言説と源氏注釈の相関関係の系譜のなかに位置づけなおすことが必要となる。<源氏的なもの>に内在する<非源氏的なもの>の系譜を明らかにした。

Many American multinational corporations (MNCs) have turned into factory-less. They outsource the production of their products to foreign companies and derive the largest share of their revenue from the intellectual property of core technologies and brand names. When factory-less American MNCs sell their products assembled by foreign contract manufacturers in overseas markets, they actually “export” the value added attributed to their intellectual property embedded in those physical goods. However, conventional trade statistics are compiled based on the value of goods crossing national borders, as declared to customs. The value added of the intellectual property is generally not recorded as part of US exports. We use Apple, a typical factory-less American company that employs exclusively foreign contact manufacturers to assembly its products, as a case to illustrate why and how conventional trade statistics underestimate actual US exports in the age of global value chains. According to our analysis of this case, if the value added of Apple intellectual property sold to foreign consumers was counted as part of US exports, total US exports in 2015 would increase by 3.4%, and its trade deficit would decrease by 7.0%. In terms of bilateral trade, the value added under examination here would raise the US exports to China and Japan by 16.6% and 8.6% respectively, and lower its trade deficit with the two countries by 5.2% and 7.8% accordingly.

<p>Sixty years ago, "metaphysics" was a kind of pejorative word in the philosophical movement of logical positivism. Its slogan was "elimination of metaphysics" and "unification of sciences." But in the 1970's philosophical climate has gradually changed. Nowadays metaphysics rather become popular in the field of analytic philosophy. Such transformation was caused by Michael Dummett and Saul Kripke. Dummett's Anti-realism based on intuitionistic mathematics and Kripke's possible world semantics and new theory of reference based on quantified modal logic introduced metaphysical perspective into analytic philosophy. These are typical examples of interaction between philosophy, mathematics and logic.</p>

市民が研究に関与する「市民科学」は、科学への市民の積極的な参加の一形態である。市民が研究に積極的に参加するためには、動機づけや参加しやすい環境など様々な要因を想定し、研究を設計する段階でこれらの点を考慮に入れなければならない。近年のオープンデータに関する動きは自然科学だけでなく人文社会科学にも亘っており、専門家以外のデータ利活用促進を目指している。その意味では分野横断的なテーマのワークショップは、市民に研究参加の場を提供すると同時にオープンデータの利用を促進する有効な方策である。国文学研究資料館では、一般市民に歴史史料の中に記述された天変地異に関する用語を探してもらうワークショップを 2016 年から 3回にわたって行った。事後のアンケート調査から、地域の史料への関心や歴史と天文学という組み合わせの意外性などが参加動機に繋がっていることが窺え、異分野連携研究が自然科学にそれほど興味のない層を取り込むために一定の効果があることが明らかになった。その一方で、今後、市民参加による研究データの基盤整備を進めるためには、データの精度と確度の高い情報を抽出することができるよう指導していくことが必要で、参加者の年齢層や能力を勘案してシステム設計をする必要がある。

This paper examines fertilizer material circulation through the analysis of fertilization technology in everyday life and presents some insights into its usage in different parts of society. With the advent of the modern era, rapid modernization, and population explosion, night soil usage and human waste treatment facilities exist side by side. The circulation of fertilizer from farm villages to urban areas and back to farm villages was accomplished in four phases. In the first phase, in 1900, the government began to participate in the treatment of human waste. As a result of this, farmers could no longer get free night soil. However, farmers continued to restore night soil to agricultural land. In the second phase, the city of Nagoya began to process human waste into ammonium sulfate because of the city’s expansion and innovations in chemical fertilizer processing plants. But, as this business did not produce a profit, the plant was closed because of the noxious odors it produced. However, there was an increasing demand for night soil in order to recover its nutrients to produce fertilizer for year-round vegetable cultivation. Also, advances in technology, storage, and human waste fertilization were made possible by vast scientific improvements. In 1921, with the third phase, Nagoya again started to treat human waste. No longer did the human waste market lose value because of the increase in population and the resultant surplus of human waste. On the other hand, in farm villages, utilization of night soil reduced the amount of money expended for agricultural fertilizer expenses. It stabilized the farmers’ economy. Nagoya, in the 1930s, again tried to build a sewage treatment plant. However, because of the financial panic, the demand for a self-supplied fertilizer increased again, and the sewage treatment plant ran into difficulties. So, the use of night soil in farming areas was reestablished and the process came full circle.

本研究は、高齢者のケア環境として、加齢による感覚機能の低下をやわらげ、ユーザーのQOLを支援する適切な色彩設計の指針を明らかにすることを目的とする。そこで、エンドユーザーの立場から、実際的な施設の使い手であるユーザーと従事者の双方向から施設の廊下と療養室の色彩環境について、価値観の差異を調査した。結果、両者の共通点として、(1)療養室については、ピンクと白で設えられた「清潔な」色彩環境を望む。(2)高明度のグレーの壁にピンク色のカーテンで構成した療養室を「清潔」で「優しい」と評価する。(3)ベージュの壁にオレンジ色のドアやカーテンで構成した環境を「陽気な」「楽しい」と評価する。相違点として、(4)廊下については、ユーザーは、陽気で明るい明瞭な色彩環境を望むのに対して、従事者は、清潔で落ち着いた曖昧な色彩環境を望む。
