映画は,作品とその中にあるテーマを,映像と音声により視聴者に向けて届ける芸術作品です.視聴者にその作品を,そして作品が伝えたいことを明確にあるいは印象的に届けるためにどうしたらいいか,そのためにどうすればよいかという知見は,計算機の情報処理結果を人間に届ける際にも通じるものがあると思われます.そこで,映画作りにおいて人間(視聴者も登場人物も)をどう捉えるか,という観点を中心に,映画がどうして観る人を引き込むかについて,実際の製作の様子を見ながら映像的/映画的観点で概説します.また,最新のインディーズ映画事情について,CO2(シネアスト・オーガニゼーション大阪エキシビション)という若手映画監督活動支援プロジェクトにディレクターとしてかかわっている立場から紹介いたします.

三次元音場を作る方法として波面合成法がある。従来の波面合成法は空間上に多数のスピーカを配置することで実現していたが、この場合だとシステムを構築するコストも高く、また、スピーカが聴取者の視線に入ってしまうので、スクリーン等と組み合わせた視聴覚システムを構築するのが困難になる。本研究では、立方体の頂点位置に配置した8個のスピーカと波面合成法を用いた三次元音場再生システムを提案し、数の少ないスピーカアレイでも性能が十分出ているかどうかを評価する。頭部を中心とした17方向のスピーカによる定位方向と、8個のスピーカアレイによる定位方向を比較したところ、立方体面の法線方向以外では定位方向は同じであることが分かった。

Laser induced fluorescence method was applied for the measurement of NO concentration in the propane and methane diffusion flames. A tunable, narrow band ArF excimer laser was used to excite the D (υ′=0) ←X (υ″=1) band of NO molecule. Emission spectrum of the induced light by a laser beam was measured by a spectroscope. Spectrum of the induced light from the diffusion flame was compared with that of the premixed flame. Although the spectrum had only NO fluorescence components on premixed flame, a lot of strong spectrum components related to the laser induced incandescence of the soot and laser induced breakdown appeared in the spectrum from the diffusion flame. NO fluorescence component was picked out from the emission spectrum with traversing the irradiate position of laser beam in order to obtain the accurate distribution of NO fluorescence on the flame axis. In this paper this method was named as S-LIF method. A planer laser induced fluorescence (P-LIF) method was tried to measure the distribution of NO fluorescence on the flame axis. In the P-LIF method, an interference filter was used to remove the obstructive light component from the LIF image. NO fluorescence distribution measured by P-LIF method was compared with that of S-LIF method. As the result, the P-LIF image qualitatively agreed with the data of S-LIF. It was confirmed that the interference filter did not remove completely the obstructive light components.

We have analyzed the interaction of the air pollution gases concentration between neighboring places in Kitakyushu area by KM2O-Langevin equations theorem, which provides the causality between different time series. From the analyses on SO2, NO2 and NO gases concentrations on 100 hours basis from 1980 to 1986, we have recognized a strong causality on SO2 in 1980 and 1986, but not noticiable in other cases. We have also recognized a moderate causality on NO2 in 1986.

人口減に悩む地方自治体が目立つ中、30代の定住人口が増えている町がある。外房の自然に恵まれた千葉県一宮町だ。住まいを移したサーフィン愛好家たちが中心となって、町を変え始めている。 JR外房線の上総一ノ宮駅から自動車で約10分、海沿いを走る道路の向こうには、防砂林と浜辺が広がる。

For an air-cooled engine, designers must choose the number of fins required for cooling, then arrange them along the cylinder at a suitable fin pitch. Most motorbikes mount their air-cooled engines at a slant, with their cylinder centralaxis not perpendicular to the air flow. This study investigated the cooling characteristics of air-cooled experimental cylinders, with various fin pitches and number of fins, mounted at tilt angles between 0°(vertical) and 90°(horizontal),in a wind tunnel at air velocities of 20km/h (5.6m/s) and 60km/h (16.7m/s). Heat release from the cylinder was measured, air flow between fins was observed using the smoke wire method, and air flow over fin surfaces wasobserved using the oil film method. Results indicated that, except at 20km/h (5.6m/s) and a pitch of 7.5mm, cylinder cooling increased as tilt angle increased from 0° to 40°, then decreased when the cylinder tilt angle exceeded 40°. Only at 20km/h (5.6m/s) and a pitch of 7.5mm, cylinder cooling increased as tilt angle increased from 0° to 30°, then decreased when the cylinder tilt angle exceeded 30°. Cylinder cooling was maximized with 7 fins pitched at 10mm.

「今年の夏には、ここに製造プラントを建てるんです」。降りしきる雪の中、見渡す限りの銀世界に歩を進めながら、ノルド ファブリカ(北海道美唄市)会長の永桶裕明は言った。プラントはバイオマス燃料を造る施設。永桶は生まれ故郷の美唄で、エネルギー事業に乗り出そうとしている。 バイオマス燃料とは、木屑や家畜糞尿などの有機物を保存・運搬しやすい形に加工したもの。

キリスト教の聖人の祝日が記載されている中世の暦は,キリスト教世界の記憶と異教世界の記憶がぶつかり合う場であり,ヨーロッパの文化を理解するための重要な鍵となっている。本稿は,暦上でそれぞれ6月24日と12月27日に祝日を持つ,洗礼者ヨハネと福音史家ヨハネという2 人の聖ヨハネをめぐる神話学的考察である。2人の聖ヨハネの祝日がほぼ「夏至」と「冬至」に対応するのは偶然ではない。西洋の占星術伝承によれば,「夏至」と「冬至」はそれぞれ「蟹座」と「山羊座」に対応するため,2人の聖ヨハネは「至点の扉」の門番の役割を果たしているのである。門番の雛形は,2つの顔を持つ古代ローマの神ヤヌスであり,中世のキリスト教世界はヤヌスを 人の聖ヨハネとして再解釈した。一方で「蟹座」と「山羊座」の守護星がそれぞれ「月」と「土星」であることは,2人の聖ヨハネが「メランコリー」の影響下にあったことも示唆している。
