1歳,避妊メス,キャバリア・キング・チャールズ・スパニエル(CKCS)が右耳の痒み動作を主訴に来院した。耳鏡検査では,外耳炎の所見はなかったが,膨隆した鼓膜が確認できた。MRI検査所見では,右鼓室内にT2強調画像で高信号の物質が貯留していた。耳道内視鏡下で鼓膜切開したところ粘稠性の高い灰白色をした粘液が多量に漏出した。処置から2週間後には,ほとんどかゆみ動作はみられなかった。以上の経過より,本症例を原発性滲出性中耳炎(primary secretory otitis media;PSOM)と診断した。

特徴的な牙痕および臨床症状からニホンマムシ(Gloydius blomhoffii)の咬症と診断した猫2症例の治療例を報告する。両症例とも夜間外出中に受傷したと思われ,家に戻ってきた際,症状は認められなかったが,翌朝には顔面が腫大していた。両例とも受傷した約12時間後に受診,症例1は下唇に牙痕を1ヵ所認め,下顎に高度な浮腫が見られた。症例2は前頭部に2ヵ所の牙痕を認め,顔面と下顎に高度の浮腫が観察された。両例とも初診時にプレドニゾロンを2.3~4.0 mg/kg投与し,その後漸減,抗生物質も投与したところ,4日間ほどで回復した。

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of muscle vibration in the lower extremities in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) during walking. [Subjects] Nine patients with PD participated in this study and were tested with and without vibration (vibration at 60 Hz). [Methods] Eight oscillators of vibration were attached to the muscle bellies (tibialis anterior, gastrocnemius, biceps femoris, and rectus femoris) on both sides of the lower extremities with adhesive tape in this study. Spatiotemporal gait parameters were measured using a motion analysis system. [Results] Stride length and walking speed with vibration were significantly increased compared with those without vibration in PD patients. [Conclusion] These results suggest that the application of vibration to lower extremity muscles in patients with PD may improve the parkinsonian gait pattern.

The application of ceramic components in gas turbine engines enables the improvement of the power output and the efficiency of gas turbines by increasing the turbine inlet temperature. The high temperature properties of the ceramic materials offer the potential of higher turbine operating temperatures with no cooling techniques and therefore the ceramic components with higher temperature limits are becoming more attractive. In this study, the ceramic turbine wheel is applied in the aircraft gas turbine engine and the engine testing is demonstrated under full load operating conditions. The successful testing of the ceramic turbine components in the aircraft gas turbine engine has been accomplished. The test results indicate that the ceramic turbine wheel is capable of operating under the high thermal shock condition of fast starting to full speed. Furthermore, the adoption of some new ceramic turbine design concepts is proposed in actual use for aircraft ceramic turbine engines.

Graph construction is an important step in graph-based semi-supervised classification. While the k-nearest neighbor graphs have been the de facto standard method of graph construction, this paper advocates using the less well-known mutual k-nearest neighbor graphs for high-dimensional natural language data. To evaluate the quality of the graphs apart from classification algortihms, we measure the assortativity of graphs. In addition, to compare the performance of these two graph construction methods, we run semi-supervised classification methods on both graphs in word sense disambiguation and document classification tasks. The experimental results show that the mutual k-nearest neighbor graphs, if combined with maximum spanning trees, consistently outperform the k-nearest neighbor graphs. We attribute better performance of the mutual k-nearest neighbor graph to its being more resistive to making hub vertices. The mutual k-nearest neighbor graphs also perform equally well or even better in comparison to the state-of-the-art b-matching graph construction, despite their lower computational complexity.

The production of a major component, 6-oxo-1-nonanol and a minor compound, N-3-methylbutyl acetamide in the male rectal gland of Bactrocera carambolae, a fruit pest of economic importance, increased concomitant with age, and their peak production corresponded with sexual maturity. During courtship period, these endogenous components were released unchanged into the air as visible smoke by a group of 100–150 males in a glass chamber. Male emissions elicited upwind flight via zigzag anemotaxis, and attracted more conspecific virgin females than males in wind tunnel assays. When these components were assayed individually, both 6-oxo-1-nonanol and N-3-methylbutyl acetamide elicited significant female responses toward the source chemicals, although the response was less than that for live males. The results suggested that these volatile components are involved in the intraspecific communication by playing a role as sex pheromones during courtship of B. carambolae.

本研究は,長期・多人数の滞在型現地調査に対する地理学的な学術成果を,いかにして村・村民に還元するのか,ラオスでの村落調査で実践した写真集制作と展示施設の制作事例について報告する.そして,それらの提示する村の暮らしを研究者や外来者との対話のプラットフォームとして活用することにより,住民の知識の価値を共感でもって見出し,村人自身の再認識に役立てることに地理学知を活用することを提案する.

今日われわれのフィールドワークという営みには調査による地域貢献の課題がつきまとっている.フィールドが海外になると,地域貢献は容易に達成できるものではない.われわれ地理学者が地域的差異の究明を研究目的に掲げているように,海外でのフィールドワークの成果を還元しようとすれば,地域社会の特性に応じて社会文化的な差異を越えなければならないからである.そこには,科学者の形づくる知の性質,還元を計る空間的な内実とスケール,還元を意識する研究者の立ち位置など,克服しなければならない数多の問題点がある.本稿は,それらの問題点の基本的な側面に検討をくわえ,望ましい知の還元への方途を模索する試みである.

It is well established that vesicular nucleotide transporter (VNUT) is responsible for vesicular storage of nucleotides such as ATP, and that VNUT-expressing cells can secrete nucleotides upon exocytosis, playing an important role in purinergic chemical transmission. In the present study, we show that VNUT is expressed in intestinal L cells. Immunohistochemical evidence indicated that VNUT is present in glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) containing cells in rat intestine. VNUT immunoreactivity is not co-localized with GLP-1, a marker for secretory granules, and synaptophysin, a marker for synaptic-like microvesicles (SLMVs). Essentially the same results were obtained for GLUTag clonal L cells. Sucrose density gradient analysis confirmed that VNUT is present the light fraction, unlike secretory granules. These results demonstrate that intestinal L cells express VNUT in either the unidentified organelles at light density other than secretory granules and SLMVs or a subpopulation of SLMVs, and suggest that L cells are purinergic in nature and secrete nucleotides independent of GLP-1 secretion.

福島第一原発事故によって放出された放射性物質の野生動物への影響は住民および国際社会の大きな関心事であるが,その遺伝的な影響や生理状態に及ぼす影響,またそれらのモニタリングの手法などについての情報は少ない.放射線被曝によって遺伝的な影響が生じる経路の一つとして細胞内の他の物質に放射線があたって生じた活性酸素が二次的に DNAを酸化することによる間接的経路がある.そこで本研究では環境中の放射性物質が野生動物集団に与える遺伝的影響を捉えるために,尿中の 8-ヒドロキシデオキシグアノシン(8-OHdG)の濃度を計る事で DNAの酸化ダメージを計る事を試みた.8-OHdGは酸化ダメージを受けた核酸が修復される際に生じる代謝産物で,放射線被曝によって増加する事が示唆されている.2011年より福島県飯舘村,川内村および茨城県の北茨城市の 3地点でアカネズミを捕獲し,尿中 8-OHdGの濃度を比較した.その結果,幾つかの採集地点間で有意な差が見られたものの,空間線量率に応じた尿中 8-OHdG濃度の増加は見られなかった.一方臼歯摩耗度から推定される個体の齢段階に応じて尿中 8-OHdG濃度は高い傾向を示した.また個体ごとの筋肉中の放射性セシウム濃度と尿中 8-OHdG濃度は同一地点で捕獲された個体の間で大きくばらついており,両者の間には相関関係は見られなかった.以上の結果から,採集地点におけるアカネズミの尿中 8-OHdG濃度に対する放射線被曝の影響は加齢などのその他の要因による影響よりも小さい事が示唆された.また実際の DNAの多型についてもミトコンドリアおよびマイクロサテライトを指標に現在解析中である.

In this paper, we propose an algorithm for ALCH(D) concept learning from RDF data using minimal model reasoning. This algorithm generates concept expressions in the Description Logic ALCH(D) by giving background knowledge and positive and negative examples in the RDF form. Our method can be widely applied to RDF data on the Web, as background knowledge. An advantage of the method for RDF data is that reasoning on RDF graphs is tractable compared to logical reasoning for OWL data. We solve the problem that RDF data cannot be directly applied to the concept learning due to its less expressive power, speci.cally, the lack of negative expressions. In order to construct expressive ALCH(D) concepts from less expressive RDF data in the concept learning, we introduce (nonmonotonic) inference rules based on minimal model reasoning which derive implicit subclass and subproperty relations from the background knowledge in the RDF form. We prove the soundness, completeness and decidability of the nonmonotonic RDF reasoning in the minimal Herbrand models for RDF graphs. The process of concept learning is divided in two parts: (i) concept generation and (ii) concept evaluation. In the concept generation, minimal model reasoning enables us to derive complex concepts consisting of negation, conjunction, disjunction and quanti.ers and to exclude inconsistent concepts. In the concept evaluation, we evaluate hypothesis concepts with class and property hierarchies where minimal model reasoning is used for expressing more speci.c concepts as the answer for learning. We implement a system that learns some ALCH(D) concepts describing the features of given examples.

多元的リアリティ論は、A. Schutz以来社会学における重要な一課題となっている。だが、これまでの多元的リアリティ論においては、各リアリティ間の構造的連関や動態が論じられることは比較的少なかったように思われる。本稿では、リアリティの多元性を生むと思われる要因を三つ挙げ、その内の一つの意識状態の多様性に基く多元的リアリティの動態論を導く事を課題とする。三要因を分節したのは、これまでの多くの議論ではリアリティの多元性に関する異なった観点を同時に取り挙げてモデル構成していたので、各リアリティを系統的に抽出し得なかったのではないかと考えるからである。そして、この各リアリティを構成する為に、人間の精神発達過程 (特にピアジェとエリクソンの発達心理学) に着眼し、その発達段階から各リアリティを導く事を試みる。このようにして構成された各リアリティ間には、二つの軸による構造的連関が指摘できる。この連関に基き、動態的な多元的リアリティの一モデルを提出したい。
