The effects of addition of rice straw to submerged soil on the emergence and growth of rice (Oryza sativa L.) and two paddy weeds (Echinochloa oryzicola Vasing. and Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) Beauv. var. crus-galli) were investigated. Rice straw suppressed both the emergence and growth of transplanted plants depending on the amount of rice straw added (0%, 0.3%, 0.6% and 0.9% (w/w)) in the order of E. crus-galli > E. oryzicola > rice. The severe suppression of emergence and growth of E. crus-galli in the presence of 0.9% rice straw in hydroponic culture was thought to be due to high Fe content of the shoots. Since the difference in tolerance for the toxicity of rice straw is an important factor, the addition of organic materials into soil may help to suppress Echinochloa weeds selectively.

スギヒラタケの関与が疑われる脳症の神経画像は, 両側島皮質下白質がT2強調MR画像で高信号, CT画像で低吸収域を呈する特徴を示す. 同様の画像変化は大脳皮髄境界部に散在したり, 両側基底核に出現することがある. 神経病理学的報告は, 髄鞘崩壊とグリオーシスを特徴とする2例とマクロファージの出現を伴う壊死巣を認めた2例がある. 4例とも炎症性病変は否定的で, 橋-橋外髄鞘崩壊症に類似した病態が推定される.

Bleeding from esophagogastric varices is a catastrophic complication of chronic liver disease. We have been attempted surgery, embolization, and endoscopic treatment for the treatment of esophagogastric varices. Endoscopic injection sclerotherapy (EIS) is an established treatment for esophageal varices. EIS is associated with a high incidence of local and systemic complications. Endoscopic variceal ligation (EVL) is increasingly used because of its safety and simplicity and because no sclerosant is used. Nevertheless, EVL is not always effective, and early recurrences have been reported. Furthermore, most patients with esophageal varices treated endoscopically require treatment for recurrent varices. We invented that EVL performed three times at bimonthly intervals. EVL performed at bimonthly intervals for the treatment of esophageal varices attained a higher complete eradication rate, a lower recurrence rate, and a lower additional treatment rate. It is generally believed that bleeding from gastric varices is more severe than bleeding from esophageal varices, but bleeding from gastric varices occurs less commonly than from esophageal varices. The endoscopic risk factors for bleeding from esophageal varices include presence of raised red markings, cherry-red spots, blue color, and large size. However the risk factors for bleeding from gastric varices have yet to be characterized. Once gastric variceal hemorrhage did occur, bleeding from these varices was successfully stopped in all cases. Therefore, prophylactic treatment of gastric varices is not recommended.

はじめに:当科で経験した腹部外科手術症例について,年齢別,緊急・待期手術別,併存疾患別に術後合併症発生率と術後30日以内死亡率を検討し,90歳以上の高齢者の手術における問題点を検討した.対象:2003年4月から2006年3月までの3年間に腹部手術を行った1,534例を対象とし,うち80歳代が240例,90歳以上の超高齢者は52例であった.結果:90歳以上の超高齢者群では,90歳未満群と比べて女性が多く,併存疾患を有する率も高率で,術後合併症発生率は44%と90歳未満の20%と比べ有意に高値であった.90歳以上の超高齢者群における術後死亡率は9.6%と,79歳以下と80~89歳の2群の死亡率と比較して高値を示し,待期・緊急手術両方とも90歳以上の超高齢者群で有意に高率であった.特に,術前併存疾患がある場合と術後合併症発生例において,超高齢者群で術後死亡率が有意に高かった.多変量解析で超高齢者の術後死亡に影響する有意な要因は,術後呼吸器合併症であった.考察:90歳以上の超高齢者の手術で,術前併存疾患を伴う症例や術後合併症を伴う症例では術後死亡率が高く,慎重な手術適応と術後管理を要するものと考えられた.

本研究は,東シナ海におけるウルメイワシの成長や成熟特性を求めたものである。月別の体長組成から年齢毎に正規分布を仮定して平均体長を求め,成長曲線を推定した。その成長式は BLm=244.8[1−exp {−0.10(m−0.55)}] で表された。ただし BL および m は被鱗体長とふ化後月数である。鱗による年齢査定と耳石による日齢査定からも本結果を裏付けた。生殖腺を組織学的に検討し,産卵期間は 12 月から 6 月であり,産卵期間中に複数回の産卵を行うことが明らかとなった。成長式と体長・成熟率の関係から推定して雌雄とも満 1 歳から産卵もしくは排精することがわかった。

症例は58歳,女性.人間ドックで胸部X線写真を撮影し,右自然気胸を指摘された.左自然気胸の手術歴があり,弟,長男,長女にも自然気胸の既往があった.胸部CT検査では両側に多発する肺嚢胞を認めた.顔面に線維毛包腫(fibrofolliculoma)を疑う病変と,線維性疣贅(acrochordon)を認めた.以上の所見から,Birt-Hogg-Dube症候群(以下,BHD症候群)を疑った.右気胸の根治を目的に手術を施行し,肺底部に今回の気胸の原因と思われる2cm大のブラを認め,これを胸腔鏡下に切除した.術後,BHD遺伝子の核酸配列解析を行い,BHD症候群と確定診断した.BHD症候群は,常染色体優性遺伝の皮膚疾患であり,多発肺嚢胞・自然気胸,腎細胞癌を合併することがある.気胸の家族歴があり,多発肺嚢胞を有する症例は,BHD症候群を疑う必要があると考えられた.

The structural based drug-design (SBDD) is one of the useful methods for producing a novel medicine. We recently succeeded in X-ray crystallographic determination of two target molecules. One is human hematopoietic prostaglandin (PG) D synthase (H-PGDS) that produces PGD2 as an allergic mediator in mast cells and Th2 cells. The other is Trypanosoma brucei PGF2α synthase (TbPGFS), a member of the aldo-ketoreductase superfamily, catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of PGH2 to PGF2α, whose overproduction during trypanosomiasis causes miscarriage in infected female subjects. In this report, we introduce the recent progress in the research of the high resolution structures of human H-PGDS and TbPGFS useful for SBDD.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the current evidence on radiocerebral effects following exposure to 20 mSv on the fetus and >300 mSv on the thyroid in utero; at 16-25 weeks, abnormalities were >10 mSv and >200 mSv, respectively. In adults, radiation-associated cerebrovascular effects were obtained at >0.15-0.25 Sv. Dose-related neuropsychiatric, neurophysiological, neuropsychological, and neuroimaging abnormalities following exposure to >0.3 Sv and neurophysiological and neuroimaging radiation markers at doses >1 Sv were revealed. Studies on radiation neuropsychiatric effects should be undertaken.
