This study was designed to evaluate the number of bacteria in different ways of hand washing with the cooperation of total 345 nursing students of the first grade. The number of detected bacteria was compared in the following four cases. [1] Before washing hands; [2] After washing hands with water; [3] After washing hands with soap and water; [4] After washing hands with the antiseptic. The way to make a sample is to spread out the three fingers (the forefinger, the middle finger and the third finger) and rub them on the whole surface of solid agar medium. The results are as follows: the number of bacteria detected after washing hands with the water was larger than that before washing. In addition, after washing hands with soap the number of bacteria was much larger. Bacteria detected in these cases can be thought to be indigenous ones, and healthy people don't get infected with these bacteria. Some indigenous bacteria, however, can cause opportunistic infection. Therefore, for the persons who supply food for many people, for example, the food industry and a restaurant and the persons who are engaged in medical treatment, it is desirable to wash their hands with the disinfectant after washing with soap.

近年のコンピュータ技術の進歩に伴い循環器画像診断は変容を遂げつつある.カラー3次元動画を自在に使えるよう今日,心臓血管の形態のみならず血流をわかりやすく可視化する技法である『血流解析』が台頭しつつある.血流解析では異常血流を可視化し,乱流がもたらす心筋や血管内皮への力学的なストレスを可視化し,心臓弁膜症,心筋症,冠動脈疾患,大動脈疾患など幅広い循環器疾患において病態生理の詳細に迫ることが可能になる.また,これらの力学的なストレスが心不全や血管イベントなどを予測できるのではないかという期待がある.特に,先天性心疾患は解剖も生理学も複雑で,複雑な修復を余儀なくされ,従来血流解析と最もなじみの深い領域であった.また昨今の周術期管理の向上により遠隔期を迎える患者も増多しており予測医療としての血流解析の担う役割は大きい.本稿では血流解析手法の詳細を説明すると同時に先天性心疾患での役割を議論する.

This study evaluates the correlation between bacterial contamination and time of hand washing. It isbased on the results reported in 2nd report, which were obtained under the cooperation of total 183nursing students of the first grade.The result is following; washing in water takes an average of 16.5 seconds. When using soap, beating ittakes an average of 38.8 seconds, and flushing it takes an average of 20.0 seconds. Washing in theantiseptic solution takes an average of 33.0 seconds.Those taking shorter time for washing in water have the tendency to do so also for the other ways, andthose taking longer time for washing in water have the tendency to do so for the other ways, too.In the case of washing in water and in the antiseptic solution, the improvement of bacterialcontamination can be expected when done for not less than 21 seconds, but, as for washing with the soap,there was much unevenness about the result, so the general correlation is not clear about it

家族性高コレステロール血症(familial hypercholesterolemia:FH)に代表される遺伝性疾患の研究や,近年の次世代シークエンサーの発展などに伴うゲノムワイド解析による高頻度遺伝子変異と脂質・冠動脈疾患との関連解析により,LDL(low density lipoprotein)コレステロールと冠動脈疾患との因果関係はさらにゆるぎないものとして示されてきた.一方で,HDL(high density lipoprotein)コレステロールと冠動脈疾患との因果関係には疑問符がつけられるに至った.このようなゲノム情報は脂質管理のみならず,新たな創薬にも貢献しつつある.

Experiments were made of how normal persons express pure tone, band noise (B. N.), and white noise (W. N.), by vowel sounds and the results were compared with those obtained from patients with tinnitus. Low tone was often expressed by the vowels of u and o, and middle and high tones were by the vowel of i in healthy persons. No great difference was made by using selected words. B. N. was expressed in a quite different way from that in pure tone. Patients with sensori-neural hearing loss gave different expression from that given by normal persons. However, their vowel expression tended to be similar to that of the others. The results, the way of expression by normal persons were used for anamnesis of tinnitus patients. Conductive tinnitus occurred particularly around the sounds, u, go, and 136, and the pitch was all less than 500 Hz. In mixed tinnitus, there was considerable variation, probably depending upon how conductive and sensorineural elements participate in. Sensori-neural tinnitus was found in a whole pitch range, and mostly expressed as the sounds of i series. The patients rarely complained of tinnitus of B. N.-like sound. There was found no specificity to pitch nor to disease in tinnitus.

1957年当場のアイソトープ課にガンマ線照射室が建設され, チューリップ球根に対する影響について実験中である。照射第1年目の効果について試験し, 第2年目以後の変化の模様についても詳細に観察し, チューリップの芽条変異誘発について検討した。1) 線量率試験の結果, 50r/h以下で1~3kr照射の場合仔球の生産は抑制されない。2) ガンマ線により花弁に条斑点が出現するが, これには一定の傾向があり, またその形状は球根の発育分化と関係がある。3) Athleetについて照射第4年までの変化について観察した結果, チューリップにおける芽条変異は‘キメラ説'で説明されるとした。

'古都華'は、2002年に奈良県農業総合センター育成系統の'7-3-1'に'紅ほっぺ'を交配し得られた実生個体から選抜されたイチゴの新品種であり、2009年に品種登録出願し、同年に出願公表された。特性は以下の通りである。1.花芽分化期は、'アスカルビー'より僅かに早い。促成栽培作型における開花期は'アスカルビー'より早く、'章姫'より遅い。2.促成栽培作型における収量は、'アスカルビー'と比較して80〜95%、'章姫'と比較して65〜80%と少なく、15g以上の正常果の収穫果重は'アスカルビー'と比較して同等以上である。3.果実の糖度、酸度および硬度は収穫期間を通して高い。4.促成栽培作型における草高と草丈は、12月は'アスカルビー'並びに'章姫'と同程度であるが、厳寒期の2月には'アスカルビー'と比較して明らかに大きい。5.花房は長く、伸長促進のためのジベレリン処理は必要としない。6.二酸化炭素施用を行うことで20%近い収量増が見込まれる。7.おがくずを培地とする雨除け下のベンチ無仮植育苗では、ランナーと子苗の発生がやや少ない。8.ランナー発生から判断される休眠覚醒に要する5℃以下低温遭遇時間は'女峰'と同程度である。9.萎黄病、うどんこ病および炭疽病のいずれに対しても抵抗性を有しない。

慢性閉塞性肺疾患(COPD)患者のリハビリテーションでは下肢の活動量についての検討はされてきたが,上肢の活動量についての検討は十分とはいえず,COPD患者で上肢活動量の評価方法は確立されていない.COPD患者(17人)の上肢の活動量,動作の障害程度をActiwatch 2 とPFSDQ-Mで評価し,呼吸機能,呼吸筋力,6-minute pegboard and ring test(6-minute PBRT)で測定される上肢運動能等との関係を調べた.6-minute PBRTでのリング数とActiwatch 2 のカウント数との間に正の相関(r=0.53, p<0.05)を認めた.6-minute PBRTは上肢の活動量のサロゲートマーカーとなり,呼吸リハビリテーションを考えるうえで,上肢活動量の推測とリハビリテーションの効果判定に有用である可能性がある.

産学連携の状況は,これまで共著論文,特許引用,産学連携統計により示されてきた.筆者らは,これらの指標とは別に,大学のWeb サイトに現れた情報により,産学連携の状況を分析・計量化することに取り組んでいる.本報告においては,7大学(北海道大学,東北大学,東京大学,名古屋大学,京都大学,大阪大学,九州大学)のWeb サイトに現れた産学連携に関する情報を整理分析した結果,明らかになった特徴を示す.

有機半導体を用いた有機電界効果トランジスタ(OFET)は,有機エレクトロニクス実用化のために重要な素子の一つである.このOFETでは,有機半導体と絶縁体界面の伝導チャンネルにおけるトラップなど外因的要因が有機半導体本来の優れた伝導性を阻害していることが報告されている.そのトラップを電荷移動によって予め埋めることのできる電荷移動型の絶縁体の構築を目的に新しい電子受容性分子の合成をおこなった.また,自己組織化単分子膜処理のための初期検討や新たな自己組織化単分子膜分子の合成など,絶縁体を変調することによって有機トランジスタの性能の向上を試みた.

リーマン多様体の構造を考察する場合、測地線の研究は非常に有益な手がかりを与える。本研究では、曲線族の種類を増やすことでより多くの情報を獲得し多様体の構造をより詳しく調べられるのではないかという視点に立ち、ケーラー多様体をケーラー形式の定数倍というケーラー磁場による軌道を中心にして考察を行った。1比較定理ケーラー磁場の軌道を基に線織面上に作ったクロワッサン形について、断面曲率の上からの評価の下に周の長さを複素空間形内の弓形の周の長さで評価することができた。逆に断面曲率の下からの評価の下に扇形の弧の長さを複素空間形内の扇形の弧の長さで評価することができた。2複素空間形内の測地球上の佐々木磁場による軌道の考察ケーラー磁場を磁性単体の立場から測地球上の軌道と半径方向とに分解して考察する基礎として、複素空間形内の測地球上で佐々木磁場を考え、その軌道を構造れい率により分類し軌道の周期などの性質を考察した。測地球は佐々木多様体としてのモデル空間であるが、複素空間形上のケーラー磁場の軌道と様子を異にし同じ周期を持つ互いに合同ではない軌道が存在することがわかった。3等長はめ込みによる特徴付けケーラー多様体を実空間形に等長的に埋め込むという構造剛性の下で曲線族としては2次的な点を持つという形に緩めて考察を行った。埋め込みの誘導写像が2次性と測地曲率の対数微分を保つという条件の下ではケーラー多様体は複素空間形の全臍的はめ込みか第1標準はめ込みになる。2次性を保つという条件を緩め外形が2次的であるとすると平行に埋め込まれる階数2のエルミート空間が追加される。

Since 2001 the author has been compiling university rankings for "The University Rankings," an annual publication by the Asahi Shimbun Company, based on statistical surveys on the ISI citation databases of Thomson Scientific. In this report, the historical developments in these 6 years are reviewed, and a new method of calculating number of papers and citations introduced for the 2006 edition is described with some related problems which are involved in these bibliometric statistics.

A rapid method for determining paeonol in Moutan Cortex ("Mudanpi"-root bark of Paeonia moutan) was established by high-speed liquid chromatography. Paeonol was separated in a 25 cm column of Zorbax CN, using a Shimadzu-Du Pont Model LC-2 liquid chromatograph, with 50% acetonitrile as the desorption solution. Separation was completed within 7 min. Paeonol in Moutan Cortex was extracted with methanol and the extract was injected directly into the column. Paeonol content was estimated from previously prepared calibration curves based on standard paeonol. At 275 nm, the precision of the determination was about ±1% and the detection limit was about 2 ng (S/N ratio, 3). It was concluded that this method is useful for the evaluation of Moutan Cortex.

1986年に創刊された「データベース白書」は,2008年5月刊行の「電子情報サービス2008」をもって23年目となった。本稿では,この間の白書各年版の内容を振り返りつつ,わが国におけるデータベース関連諸分野の変動を跡づけ,今後の展望に資するものとしたい。
