近年,多くの生物細胞にさまざまなD-アミノ酸が遊離や結合状態で存在し,L-アミノ酸とは異なる生理機能を持つことがわかってきている.加えて,多くの食品素材にもD-アミノ酸が見出されており,その食品機能の解明と食品産業への応用展開が注目されている.本稿では食品中D-アミノ酸の分析方法,代表的発酵食品である食酢中のD-アミノ酸分析によって明らかとなった乳酸菌のD-アミノ酸生産への関与,および乳酸菌から見出されたD-アミノ酸代謝関連酵素の酵素学的特徴について紹介する.

食品における結合態D-アミノ酸の存在と異性化を促進する要因について解析を行った。サプリメントとして販売されているコラーゲンペプチドには、結合態D-ValがD/D+L比20%程度の非常に高い割合で存在することを見出した。一方でダイズやホエー由来ペプチドでは結合態D-Valは検出されなかった。またAspジペプチドをモデルとして異性化を促進する加工処理を検討した。電子レンジでの加熱において、アルカリ条件では700 W、30秒で異性化が進行することを見出した。既知の条件よりもかなり低い温度と短時間で進行することが明らかになり、マイクロウェーブが結合態アミノ酸の異性化を促進することが示唆された。

火山活動に伴い発生する津波は,地震による断層運動を要因とする津波より発生頻度が低く,その実態はあまり明らかになっていない.また,火山活動に伴い発生した津波の国内外事例を対象に解析的検討が実施されているものの,発生過程は多様であり未解明な部分が多い.そこで本研究では火山活動に伴い発生する津波のうちカルデラ陥没に着目し,水理模型実験によりカルデラ陥没を想定した津波の発生機構を明らかにするとともに,数値計算により既往の検討手法の妥当性を検証した.その結果,水理模型実験によりカルデラ陥没に伴う津波の発生機構が確認できた.また,水理模型実験結果の再現計算により既往の検討手法による初期波形計算手法でカルデラ陥没に伴う津波の発生が表現可能である.

The objective of this research is to grasp the effect of high insulation bathtub on heat-retention of hot water, by means of web questionnaire, laboratory experiment, and actual survey in houses. As a result, the followings were obtained; 1) It is indicated that high insulation bathtub is remarkably effective for restraining falling in temperature of hot water in bathtub, and that the insulation effect is not observed clearly when the lid of bathtub is opened even if it is the high insulation bathtub. 2) The insulation performance of bathroom also affects the decrease in water temperature as well as that of bathtub. As with insulation of the bathtub, it is important to insulate the bathroom. 3) It is suggested that to estimate water temperature drop by using bathtub heat loss coefficient would be possible.

The probe of this scanning near-field optical microscope (SNOM) is a dielectric sphere of 500 nm in diameter on a transparent substrate. The probe sphere is illuminated by evanescent wave which is formed by the incidence of He-Ne laser with the wave length of 632.8 nm from the inside of the substrate on the condition of total reflection. The light from the probe is collected by a conventional microscope through the substrate. The detected light intensity changes remarkably when a sample is brought in a near-field around the probe. The variation of detected light intensity in the near-field depends on refractive index of sample; the smaller real part of refractive index of sample, the more remarkable increase of detected light intensity. This result is explained by using an electric dipole model for the electromagnetic interaction between probe and sample. The vertical resolution of about 1 nm and lateral resolution of less than 20 nm are obtained for the developed microscope by measuring a standard specimen which is prepared by vacuum evaporation of metal.

Drug dispensing is a statutory and designated duty of a pharmacist. We aimed to examine the changes in the nature of drug dispensing using a text mining method. Our corpus consisted of text documents from “Chozai Shishin”, the most standard manual for dispensing drugs in Japan, Editions 1 to 13 (Japan Pharmaceutical Association), and we used the KH Coder software for text mining. We constructed networks showing the association between frequent word co-occurrence and edition number, and co-occurrence relations for frequent words in each edition. We found that “patient” superseded “dispensing” as a frequent term over time. “Dispensing” was another frequent term with a highly centralized node in each edition. Accordingly, we targeted the term “dispensing” for network analysis to depict its co-occurrence relations. We found that the range of related words for “dispensing” broadened from “preparation” and “compounding” to include “patient adherence instructions”, “assessment”, “medical treatment”, and “information provision”. Accordingly, we concluded that the content of “dispensing”, which is a pharmacist’s duty, has expanded from the duties of “dispensing drugs” to include “responding to patients” within the definition of “dispensing”, and we were able to present this finding as objective data by using the mechanical method known as text mining.

山地河道の階段状河床形状,Step-poolの定義は研究者によって異なり,形成過程等を踏まえた整理が必要と考える.通常のStep-poolは大礫がStepを形成し形状を決めるものであり,長谷川らは横断方向に列をなして礫が集積し落差が少ないTransverse ribsをStep-poolとは区別し定義している.著者らは状況によっては礫の集合体が瀬淵構造またはStep-poolになると考え,まずTransverse ribesに近い状況での礫の集合体形成過程の検討,砂の流出後の表層状態の確認を行う.特に,山地河道における礫の集積形成過程を明確にするため,実験で反砂堆と礫の集合体の形成について調べた.まず,礫の集合体形成には遡上反砂堆がかかわる実験例ともに,進行方向で礫の集積の仕方が異なることを示した.そのうえで,砂礫の比率を変えた河床を用いて遡上反砂堆の形成実験を土砂供給をしながら行うことにした.実験では特に各粒径の流送形態がどのように変化するなどを詳細に調べ,混合率によって砂が流出した後の礫の集合体の形成状況が異なることなどを明らかにした.

Broad soft-tissue pedicle genioplasties were performed in 6 patients by horizontal osteotomy of the inferior border of the mandible, with preservation of a musculoperiosteal pedicle to the genial segment. Preoperative, immediate postoperative, and long-term follow-up lateral cephalometric radiographs were retrospectively analyzed to evaluate the osseous and soft-tissue changes of the chin. After a mean follow-up period of 29 months, all cases preserved the initial advancement. No case showed bone resorption from pogonion to the menton region.The chins advanced by broad soft-tissue pedicle genioplasty had good stability.

School of Administration and Informatics (hereafter, AI) at the University of Shizuoka holds a monthly faculty research session. In the academic year of 2001-02, it was decided that the research session would adopt the systems conversation (i.e. brainstorming) style of the International Systems Institute, and have the following steps: 1. Decision on the theme to work on; 2. Input paper circulation and dialogue by email; 3. Conversation session; 4. Circulation of report from a conversation session, which also serves as the input paper for the next session; and, 5. Final report based on the above interactions. Participation in the input paper submission, conversation, and report writing is all-voluntary. It was decided that the theme be "Roles of Information Education and Computer Education in the Educational Program of the School of Administration and Informatics." This is a topic that all the AI faculty from various academic disciplines could work on. Through such a conversation process, we have two major outcomes: 1. Dialogue among the AI faculty across their A (Administration and Accounting), M (Mathematics and Model-building), and C (Computer and Communication) backgrounds. 2. Common understanding that the AI faculty members have various interpretations of the concepts such as information education; computer education; nature and levels of information and computer-related knowledge and skills the AI graduates are expected to have. Yet, regarding the necessary levels of knowledge and skills required for the AI graduates, the AI faculty seems to have, or have come to an agreement on their contents. Another point of agreement is that information education and computer education need to be linked not only to their advanced levels, but also the A and the M courses.

Diatom assemblages in the Kameyama Formation of the Mid-Pliocene Tokai Group and distributed in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, central Japan are investigated. They consist of 109 taxa in 49 genera, and are characterized by an mixture of both freshwater and marine diatoms. Among them, freshwater planktonic species Aulacoseira praeislandica (including A. praeislandica f. curvata) is predominant, and the marine species Schuettia annulata is subordinate. The mixed flora may suggest that the Kameyama Formation was deposited in a lake-like condition, which was invaded intermittently by seawater in the Mid-Pliocene. This marine invasion may be caused by both local and global settings: this area was located at the southernmost end of the Tokai Group sedimentary basin, and the global climate at this time was warm and the sea level was high.
