Food habits of seven frog species during mating periods were examined from gastric contents and species comparison were conducted. From 1041 frogs, elementary information on their food habits such as species and sizes of prey insects were reported and species difference and sex difference were discussed. Males of Tago's brown frogs (Rana tagoi ) and Shlegel's green tree frogs (Rhacophorus schlegelii ) foraged nothing during mating periods as previous reports, but males of the other five species did. Males of Japanese tree frogs( Hyla japonica) and Japanese stream frogs( Buergeria buergeri) were getting to forage towards the end of their mating periods. Especially, male black spotted pond frogs( Rana nigromaculata ) seemed to prefer larger insect than expected from their environment food resources, foraged well and gained their body weight during mating periods. These species differences seem to be caused mainly from their length of mating periods and their extent of site fidelity in mating periods.

症例は86歳の男性で,上腸間膜動脈(superior mesenteric artery;以下,SMAと略記)血栓症に対する血栓溶解療法・抗凝固療法を誘引として発症したコレステロール塞栓症(cholesterol crystal embolization;以下,CCEと略記)による腸閉塞に対し,単孔式腹腔鏡下手術(single incision laparoscopic surgery;以下,SILSと略記)を施行した.CCEによる腸閉塞はまれであり,これに対し単孔式を含めた腹腔鏡下手術を施行した報告はない.本症例に対しSILSを安全に施行するうえで,術前の閉塞部位の同定とイレウス管による腸管の減圧などが有効であった.今後,インターベンション治療や抗凝固療法の増加に伴いCCEの罹患数は増加するものと考えられ,一般消化器外科医もこの疾患の存在を認識することが重要である.また,本症例のようにCCEはSMA血栓症などの致死的な疾患を背景として発症する可能性のある疾患であり,外科的治療を考える際には低侵襲な単孔式を含めた腹腔鏡下手術も治療選択肢としてあげられると考えられた.

炭素鋼の大気腐食における環境の腐食性について, 付着海塩が吸水することによって表面に形成される水膜の厚さの影響を中心に検討した.付着海塩への吸着水量を種々の条件下で実測し, 形成された液膜の濃度を計算値と比較して熱力学計算が実験結果をよく再現する条件を得た. また種々の条件下で炭素鋼の腐食試験を行い, 熱力学計算で導出される水膜の厚さdと腐食速度CRとの関係について調べた. d=50μm近傍においてCRは最大値約0.07mgm-2s-1を取ることを見い出した.

大気腐食は,結露あるいは降雨などの薄い水膜の下で発生し,進展する.水膜の組成は,大気汚染物質沈着速度に依存し,大気の湿度および温度条件ともに変化する.多くのセンサや測定法が,大気環境の腐食性あるいはその環境中での腐食挙動を評価するため開発された.本稿では,それらのセンサや測定法によって評価される,水や付着物あるいは環境因子の役割に基づいて,大気腐食研究の現状と将来展望について述べる.

Many structural metallic materials are exposed to atmospheric environments. And corrosion in these environments, so called “Atmospheric Corrosion”, commonly initiates and develops under thin water films formed by dew or rain drops. A composition of water film depends on the air pollutant deposition rate, and changes with the humidity and temperature conditions of the atmosphere. Many sensors and the measurement techniques have been developed to evaluated corrosivities in atmospheric environments and corrosion behaviors in those environments. In this paper, the present state of atmospheric corrosion researches are discussed based on the roles of water and deposits and environmental factors which are evaluated by those sensors and measurement techniques.

本邦において, HIV感染症およびAIDS患者は増加傾向にあり, 治療薬の開発などHIV医療の著しい発展も加味され, 歯科外来を通院する患者は年々増加している. そこで, HIV感染患者の歯科治療の実態を把握するため, 過去3年間に熊本大学医学部附属病院を受診したHIV感染患者60名のうち歯科口腔外科を受診した23名について臨床的検討を行った. 男女比は9: 1で, 男性が有意に多く, 平均年齢は34.9歳で, 年齢分布では20代から40代に集中していた. 感染経路は, 約半数が血友病患者であった. HIV感染者は, 年々増加傾向にあったが, 歯科受診者は減少していた. 当科受診時のCD4細胞数は, ほぼ半数が600/ul以上であったが, 100/ul以下の重度免疫抑制状態の症例も2例みられた. ウイルス量では, 50コピー/ul未満の症例が7例, 50コピー/mm3から10,000コピー/ul未満の症例が13例, 10,000コピー/ul以上の症例が3例であった.23名に対して3年間で266回の診察機会があったがその中には, 除石が53回, 抜歯が18回含まれていた. 抗生剤の予防投与は1例のみで, 治療後特に問題とはならなかった.

Electrochemical hydrogen permeation tests of pure Fe sheets rusted by cyclic corrosion test (CCT) and atmospheric exposure were carried out under controlled temperature and humidity to investigate the influence of atmospheric corrosion on the hydrogen entry behavior. The hydrogen entry into the Fe specimens rusted by CCT increased under wet condition, and the hydrogen entry was increased with the CCT cycle number. During drying process after the wetting, hydrogen entry was further enhanced and a peak of hydrogen current was observed. The peak hydrogen permeation current tended to increase with the growth of rust layer, and the peak value of the hydrogen permeation current became remarkably higher than that at the highest humidity when the rust layer was relatively thick. Similar enhancement of hydrogen entry into an outdoor-exposed specimen was also observed during drying. Drying process after CCT resulted in an increase in hydrogen content of 5 mm-thick steel specimens measured by means of thermal desorption analysis, indicating the enhancement of hydrogen entry during drying process and showing a good agreement with the electrochemical hydrogen permeation test results. It is required to take into consideration the enhanced hydrogen entry to estimate concentration of hydrogen from the environment.

Blackish cicada Cryptotympana facialis , is one of the most popular cicadas in west Japan. Their distribution is known to be getting wider toward north and east Japan recently. For estimating the current northern and limit, We chose 31 parks with rich environments around the Kanto and southern Tohoku districts, observed their chirps and collected their exuviae. As the results, the distribution ranged north to Toride-shi, Ibaraki prefecture.日本の代表的なセミであるクマゼミ(Cryptotympana facialis )は、近年、その生息域を北や東に広げていることが知られている。本種の現在の北限を評価すべく、関東地方および南東北地方の自然が豊かな31 の公園を選び、その鳴き声の確認および抜け殻の採取を行った。その結果、本種の分布は茨城県取手市までであることがわかった。

In 1994 and 1995, hydrangea phyllody occurred in Tochigi, Shizuoka and Oita Prefectures, Japan. The affected plants (Hydrangea macrophylla and H. serrata) showed phyllody and proliferation of flower organs, as well as stunting and dieback. Electron microscopy revealed the presence of phytoplasmas in the phloem sieve elements of affected sepals and leaves. The phytoplasmas were transmitted to healthy Catharanthus roseus by graft inoculation. Using primers for 16S rDNA by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), DNA fragments of 1.3 and 0.75kbp were amplified in DNA samples extracted from affected hydrangeas but not in those extracted from healthy plants. This is the first report on the occurrence of hydrangea phyllody in Japan.

鋼橋建設コストの低減を目的として, 塗装の代わりに除湿機を箱桁内部に設置し, 湿度を制御することにより, 箱桁内面の腐食を防止する工法が検討され, 実用化されている. しかし, この防食方法には電源が必要不可欠な上, 除湿機の設置・運転費用もかかる欠点がある. これらの欠点を解決するため, 取扱いが容易で安価な除湿剤に着目し, 除湿剤による箱桁内部の湿度制御効果について検討した. 本文では, 北海道および沖縄に架設された実橋を対象とした鋼製箱桁内部の環境腐食性の調査結果および, 腐食環境が厳しい沖縄の実橋鋼製箱桁内部における除湿剤の湿度制御効果を解析し, 鋼板の腐食発生挙動に及ぼす不純物付着量の影響を明らかにした上で, 除湿剤を使用する鋼製箱桁内部の防錆システムを提案した.

Heガス冷却加速器駆動核変換システムの核特性解析を基に、除熱特性解析を実施し、最適炉心を決定した。その結果、燃料最高温度は燃料及び構造材の許容温度制限を達成でき、その炉心は半径115cmとすることで初期実効増倍率0.95、初装荷燃料4000kgとなり、年間で1GWeの軽水炉12基分(290kg)のMAを核変換できることが分かった。

Sixty dentigerous and 10 primordial cysts were examined clinically and pathologically. Fifty-six of the dentigerous cysts had non-keratinizing epithelium and 9 of the dentigerous cysts had keratinizing epithelium. However, 5 keratinizing dentigerous cysts and 1 non-keratinizing primordial cyst were observed as exceptions.Radiographically, the dentigerous cysts were generally of unilocular round shape with a well-defined border. However, the well-defined border was often lost due to severe infection. In contrast, the primordial cysts were more frequently shown to be of irregular and multilocular shape, and the well-defined border was well preserved even with severe infection. Thus, keratinizing epithelium was suggested to be involved in the formation of irregular and multilocular shape and to be more resistant to infection.Pathologically, non-keratinizing epithelium often showed proliferation, a lacy appearance, and ridge elongation in association with inflammatory cell infiltration. In contrast, such changes in keratinizing epithelium were rarely observed even with heavy inflammation. Interestingly, ameloblastoma-like epithelial proliferation and calcification in the absence of inflammation were partially observed in 6 and 7 cases, respectively, independent of keratinization of epithelium. Thus, odontogenic epithelial cells were suggested to have high proliferative and differentiative activities.

Living in space must entail life in a cramped confined space, as well as monotonous sounds, smells, food and scenery. There are still few studies on human health in long-term closed habitation. We have investigated changes in the psycho-physiological status of humans in a series of closed habitations with re-circulated air, water and waste products. In this report, we describe a closed habitation experiment conducted at the Institute for Environmental Sciences and the outcomes obtained through discussion in our working group.

ドンリュウラットと雑種成犬の多血小板血漿にエンドトキシンを添加し, 過塩素酸による血液前処理法を用いた合成基質法でエンドトキシンを測定し, 比較的良好な検量線を作成した. 次に雑種成犬に0.5, 5, 50, 500μg/kgのエンドトキシンを静脈内投与し, 投与後の血中エンドトキシンの変動を測定した. いずれの投与量の場合も投与後5分以内に投与エンドトキシンの99.8~99.9%が血中から除去され, 残りの0.1~0.2%のエンドトキシンが時間の経過とともに低下したが, 500μg/kg投与時には投与後3時間以後は低下傾向がほとんど認められず, 12時間後にも50~500pg/mlのエンドトキシンが血中に検出された.
